You Get What You Pay For

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Carnival Luminosa

The Christmas cruise on Carnival Luminosa was expected to be very busy and full of families. As a family ourselves, we had a good time but felt some areas could be improved that are within the control of the crew. But I start with the positives: Good: 1) The cabins were very good, with lots and lots of storage space, clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. 2) The onboarding ...

This was a family Christmas get together, the old saying you get what you pay for …. If you like standing in lines for food, being sat on a Tender for over 45 minutes on the water, not being able to get off in searing heat, then trying to get back to the ship, lining up for hours, again in the heat, whilst they only ran 2 Tenders, welll this is the cruise for you. Accounts paid in full for on ...

Cost cutting a feature

I have sailed with Carnival many times, the last one pre Covid in February, 2020 and always found everything to be great. We recently joined Splendor for a 10 night South Pacific cruise on December 4th, 2023. Sadly the cost cutting on this cruise was very obvious with less security, cabin stewards, waiters, cleaners etc. Almost everything is now controlled by a Carnival hub app now that ...

Quite a good cruise with a few let downs.

Choose this cruise for a short break and it served its purpose. Had a nice balcony cabin (Deck 8) although some noise from deck nine, buffet dining, was a bit annoying. Food and service was OK, not the best, but far from being the worst. One big disappointment was the shore excursions. 1. Luecila Beach and Scenic, Overpriced and definitely not what its advertised as. Paid A$114 ...

Food was over cooked same thing every time and just got spicier as it went on. Over crowded by 1500. Most of the crew had covid and walked around without masks by the most guest had it and the way you get treated by them after telling them so dont tell them you caught covid! Don't have enough staff in upstairs restaurants and way too many in the lower deck in the upper you were a lucky one if you ...

The Room; Very average 3 star hotel with uncomfortable beds that vibrate the brains out of your spine due to the low speed of the cruise; Dear Carnival anchor the boat from 23:00-0700 save the fuel, and let people rest in peace. I booked a balcony room. No ironing board in room No self service laundry The ship; Very limited dining options compared to Legend. The only ...

We chose Carnival as my daughter had been on a previous cruise with them. The staff were so welcoming and fantastically helpful. Rosalyn our stewardess and all the other staff especially Frederico, Glenn, and so many others were unbelievably helpful with our everyday and dining experience. There didn't seem to be anything too difficult for them to assist and provide us with. The food was ...

Luminosa is a mid-sized ship by today's standards; we found it generally clean and well-maintained. There was a small amount of vibration in places but very little engine or exhaust noise as found on other ships we have been on. It seems like a quiet, solid ship although we had very calm sailing and couldn't assess her stability. We found the air conditioning a bit cold for comfort in some ...

Good value should not compromise service

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Carnival Luminosa

The cruise was a good value for monry. Positives: easy embarkation and disembarkation, well oganised tender to the shore, night shows were just OK. Disapointments: adult pool at the back was dirty, you could see residual oil on the handels of the entry steps, water very salty, I took shower as soon as I left the pool, never went back again. Buffet on level 9, one side of buffet was getting colsed ...

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Carnival Luminosa

I would personally not recommend Carnival to any of my family or friends. Entering a holiday spending over $2000 on accomodation and food to be underwhelming let down has left a distasteful stench in my mouth. The buffet is revolting so I attempted to eat at the restaurant hoping for better quality. To which I was again let down with a microwaved sirloin steak. Upon departing Airlie beach, guests ...
