Great family trip by SissySicilian

Corridors nice and wide on this deck, but there is an outward-opening cabin door plus a potentially dangerous pillar right smack in front of the cabin! Cabin storage does NOT include drawers. Theater noise bleeds through to the cabin.

TOO MANY PEOPLE! by denjohn

We were "upgraded" to a cabin (#5138)which happened to be a handicapped accessible cabin. It was huge with a nice sized porthole window. Lots of closet and drawer space, with many handicapped accessories, which we didn't need but if you did, it would be good to have. The main problem was the noise - we constantly, and I mean all though the day and night, heard slamming of doors. We think it was because we were across from the crew space with large doors, and it was very loud, and intrusive - especially late at night or very early in the morning.

Put a clock in the room. Have a light go on when you enter a room.
The rooms was very clean and our room steward was great. Very helpful.

Room is tight. You have to walk sideways to squeeze between wall and bed. Loved the extra balcony except when the water dripped down from theship's bridge overhead. starborad is great to view the fireworks..although, it was lame. No big finish.

We had a mini-suite, which like other cabins was well-appointed and tastefully designed. It does not have the curtain that we have enjoyed in mini-suites on the Jewel-class chips. Our bathroom included an upgraded shower with sliding door (no tub) and a double sink (albeit one that was very shallow front to back). Cabins include a mini-bar fridge and small coffeemaker (! - I think that's only in mini-suites and above). Even the mini-suite was a bit cramped, and there wasn't enough room to unpack clothes and store suitcases, so we used the sofa as a luggage rack all week and weren't able to enjoy the sofa. Were it not for booking a large balcony, we would have felt claustrophobic. Even though we weren't really able to take full advantage of a large balcony in the north Atlantic, it was a great place to escape the cramped room. As you've read elsewhere, most balconies are small don't even have room for you to stretch out your legs.  Read entire member review.

Cabin: We had a balcony stateroom on Deck 8. At first, we wanted to get an upgrade, as we were nervous about too much noise from the restaurants and entertainment on our floor, but we loved our location. We were in walking distance from everything, and rarely ever took the elevators. We only heard noise once on Wednesday night, as Rock of Ages was starting in the theater directly below us. Our cabin was quite small, and our family frequently got in each other’s way. But, we made it work. There was a lot of storage, if you looked for it, including two drawers under the couch (which we had turned into a bed, along with the pull-down bed). The only problem with these drawers was that they were frequently off their tracks, and could not be opened if someone was sitting/sleeping on the bed on top of them. But again, we made it work. The bathroom was quite large compared to the ones on other ships. There was enough storage for all of our toiletries, with shelves on the mirror and a cabinet under the sink. Our balcony was very small, but only one person at a time usually used it, which was fine. We used this to our advantage on the last night and left the door open as to get a nice sea breeze into our room.

Plenty of closet space. The balcony door was hard to get open and closed. People on the decks below could see into the balcony. The room was over the theater so there were times when you could hear music, but it was not late night nor constant.

Not a great cruise by CTcruiser57

The room size was fine, not too cramped, however, there were no drawers to put your clothes in. Everything had to fit in the closet. There were 2 drawers under the sofa that could be used, but they had bed linens in them. The safe was a good size, large enough to store an iPad in. The bed was very comfortable, but sleeping was difficult due to the noise level. My balcony door creaked all the time making it difficult to sleep. There were no passenger cabins below my room, however, there was what sounded like a large sliding door that you could hear open and then slam shut all day and during the night. The balcony was the smallest I have ever been on. There was barely enough room for the 2 chairs. If I had known that they were that small, I probably would have booked the large balcony room instead. We only saw our room steward a few times, compared with other cruises which I would see them at least a couple times a day. This cabin is one cabin away from the Waterfront and I was concerned that I would hear noise from that, but I didn't.

We booked a Category M6 (Large Balcony Mini-suite) Cabin. They’re all located on deck 8 Forward. These have a balcony which I estimated at 12 feet long by 9 feet wide. It’s big. Ours had 2 lounge chairs, two standard chairs and two small tables with room to spare. Really great. We were on the Starboard side of the ship in cabin 8730. The bed was by the closet which we preferred to give us more room to not block the balcony door. We didn’t have an issue accessing the closet with the bed right there but it’s true that it doesn’t give you a lot of space. If you’re a larger person…you might have problems with it. The room itself was nice. Nothing fancy and other than the bathroom, no difference from a standard balcony room (other than the balcony itself of course). So now seems the time to address a few things I’d read about the various Balcony categories. Our M6 was as I said around 12x9. I had read various things about how much or little they were “exposed”. This concerned me a bit and was a big reason why I had looked into switching to an aft balcony. Since I’m a big nerd, I took some graph paper and sketched it out based on what I knew of dimensions. I came to the conclusion that people would really have to want to look down at you to do so. So we kept our M6 and put to rest the B1 thing. The M6 was about 1/3 covered by the B6 on deck 9. Those appeared to be around 7’x9’. So now you’re saying….but Winston…if yours is 12’x9’ and the B6 is 7’x 9’, isn’t that over half covered? The answer is no. Look at pics. The B6s are set back from where the M6s are. The doors are not above each other. I assume this is from the bigger bathrooms. Anyway, like I said. About 4 feet of cover on the M6 balcony with another 8 feet exposed. The standard balconies above the B6’s on deck 9 were about 4’x 9’ so the B6’s get about 4 feet of cover too. The standard balconies are not big…but doable for two average sized people. If you’re tall, you’ll have problems unless you sit sideways.
One other thing I’d heard about was debris falling onto these balconies because they stick out from the others. We found one cigarette butt after the first morning. That was it. Didn’t ruin our day.
We also really thought the bathroom in the Minisuites would be great. Expectations not met on this one. The shower, while big and impressive looking, is just bad. The jets hurt and are just weird to use. The overhead shower has such little pressure and is so close to the wall that you basically had to pin yourself against the wall to get any water on you. Renders 60% of the shower space useless. Nice idea, but poor execution in my opinion. So my reco is if you’re upgrading to the MiniSuite because you think the bathroom is something spectacular, you might want to save a few bucks. Having the dual sink was cool, but ironically the water was not. It was HOT. Like scalding HOT. If you moved the handle to the cold side you got lukewarm water, and the pressure was bad. Now since this is my first cruise, maybe the BA water pressure is good for ships…but I didn’t expect it to be like it was. So there you go.
The cabin had ample storage space for my wife and me. We are overpackers. We each took a large suitcase and a rollaboard size suitcase. The suitcases fit under the bed great, and all our clothes into the closet or other storage spaces.
Despite hearing that you couldn’t make it fit, we fit our iPad2 into the safe in the closet. You had to angle it a bit, but it fit.
One last think about the M6…half of them were still unsold up to a few weeks before our sailing. While other cabin prices dropped significantly in price, ours never fell below what I paid all those months earlier. A couple weeks before sailing they had all disappeared. I suspect they were handed out as up-sells. We loved this cabin location and would easily book it again, especially if we were travelling with our kids (big balcony) despite the disappointing shower.

Crew was constantly walking this hall....there was a crew door at the very end. Otherwise very quiet. Big bathroom with double sinks and big stall shower. Nice big balcony with 2 lounge chairs, a table and 2 chairs. No drawers, just shelves and hanging space. No magnifying mirror on vanity.

Amazing Trip! by Artsy215

Our room was directly above the theater. Twice a night we got to listen to the show in the privacy of our own room. Seriously, don't book on the 8th deck. Go with 9 or higher. I liked the balcony. Lots of hidden storage. Bed was hard as a rock. Beautifully decorated!

The room is located in the back near the elevators. The bed is near the balcony and the bunk beds block the closet.
The room is the most expensive we have ever paid for on a cruise... and it was the SMALLEST. I realize that you don't spend much time in your room but with 4 people and the bunk beds out, 2 people could not walk at the same time. The bathroom is large with good water pressure.
We were on deck 9 which is above "The Waterfront", the roof of the Waterfront is below, so when you look directly down you see an 8 foot roof. During the cruise I saw a couple of items that people dropped from above accumulate on the deck including an ipod. I was in my room and I saw that there was a woman looking in my room! It scared the $#@1 out of me, it's not something you expect to see on a cruise at sea. She was picking up the ipod that was dropped.
The room is directly above Cagney's Steakhouse. We never had a problem with noise or odors from the restaurant.

Interior cabin was WAY too small even if you only had 2 people. We had 3 and were VERY cramped, I can't imagine having a 4th in the same room. We could hear the Cirque show rehearsing and putting on each show which was very loud and annoying. Bunk beds were partially over the lower bed making it pretty claustrophobic.

This was a Haven Forward Suite. The room was a 1 bedroom with a king bed, living room dining area combo with a spacious bathroom. Plenty of storage and 2 very large closets with lots of hangers. The bathroom had a spa like tub with a separate walk in shower with more jets and shower heads that I knew what to do with! Double sinks with sleek hardware made this bathroom an envy to my bathroom at home!

We had 2 flat screen tvs. One in the bedroom and one in the living room. I loved having a cappuccino machine in the room (Lavanza). Our Butler, Mark, always made sure the machine was always stocked with espresso pods.

The only downside to this stateroom was the balcony was super super small. I was pretty surprised at its size.

9800 - bathroom great size. Room nice size. Closet was nice size. Balcony was on the small side but good for two people to play cards. Great view of Statue of Liberty! Some music can be heard from Fat Cats Blues Club in the evenings but we didn't mind. The white "awning" from the Waterfront was directly below. Did not really obstruct view. There are no draws for storage and the closet is less than half the size of those on other cruise lines. You cannot use your lights unless you put a room card in a slot at the cabin entrance. Inconvenient and very European and stupid. Cabin door opens outwards into the hall rather then inwards as shape of the cabin entrance is not totally straight. Great 150 SF balcony, that had room for 2 chaise lounge chairs, two tables and two chairs. The 170 SF room was well-appointed with plenty of shelves and storage areas. The beds were heavenly! We had a problem with our TV one day, but called for a repair and it was fine when we returned to the cabin 2 hours later. Our room steward, Christian, from Costa Rica was so nice and helpful. He got me an extra table on the balcony so we could have breakfast out there and have enough room to put out all the plates and coffee. He also got us down pillows. My only complaint was the room above us that seemed to move their balcony furniture often.

10112

The ship is HUGE and you will be doing a lot of walking especially if you book a forward or aft cabin. We booked 10 Forward because I like to be in the front of the ship. What I did not realize is that since this ship only has 2 elevator/stair banks you have to walk quite a distance just to get to the stairs. Not really a problem for someone in reasonable shape, but my parents who are in their 70's did not do a lot of the things they wanted to do because it was such a long walk to get anywhere. I recommend booking near the aft stairwell since almost everything on this ship is located closer to the rear, restaurants, garden cafe, etc.

That being said the cabins are a good size for cruising and the bathroom is a very good size meaning you can sit down without your legs hitting the vanity. The shower pressure was not too good, and the deisgn of the shower is ridiculous. The shower does not extend far enough from the wall to allow the water to actually fall on your head, if you are tall you will be constantly bending down to get the water to cover your body. All they would need to do is design a simple shower extension, just not well thought out, like the person who designed it never used it.

The stateroom: I had a balcony stateroom on deck 10 I must admit that it was set up very nicely and roomy. The bathroom was larger than any other bathroom on any other ship I have sailed on. I just love the fact that I didn't hit my elbows once when I showered. The stateroom had more than enough closet space and hangers. The only draw back in the stateroom was the lack of draw space. Hair dryer, soap, shampoo, electrical outlets etc. are all in the stateroom. Three important notes if you've never sailed on Norwegian, there is a slot behind the stateroom door that you insert your key card into to turn the electricity on, the do not disturb/clean the room signs are electronic and lastly the A/C shuts off when the balcony door opened. I realized that the staterooms are larger because the corridors are narrower; for me the trade off is worth it.

Breakaway rooms are small, The mini-suite we had had was about the size of the balcony room we had on a Carnival cruise. The balcony was so small it was unusable for sitting (I am 6'6). However, the bathroom was nice with a double sink, and an oversized shower. Our room steward, Robert, was excellent and our room was always pristine.

Cabin size a bit larger than previous on NCL. There is plenty of storage space, if you look for it. Besides the shelves in the closet, the vanity area has a storage cube, cabinet that runs the length to the TV has doors, open to find additional shelves. Our luggage fit on the top shelf of the closet. Glad I listened to the advice and brought an old credit card size card to keep in the slot that manages the lights. Otherwise, you have to remember to remove your key card before leaving the room or you’ll be locked out. The bathroom was the a nice size (with shelves if you wanted to unpack your toiletries), the shower was spacious - even for my husband who is 6’1”). Yes the balcony is narrow, but it’s a balcony, if you angle the chairs you have more leg room. We were two decks above the waterfront and no smoke smell whatsoever. And yes, there was a portion of the balcony which was visible to the waterfront, but I never noticed anyone looking up into our balcony.

First time on NCL by Tamara Meaux

We stayed in a mini suite. We have stayed in suites on other cruise lines and found them to be much larger than the one we were in on the Breakaway. There is a pretty good amount of storage, room for your luggage under the bed, a sliding closet that just fits a weeks worth of clothing for 2, several shelves in the closet and a security box. There are also drawers under the sofa. On the side of the desk there area few more small shelves which are very handy too. The bathroom is very nice and in there are several drawers and a place to put your items on top of the sink. Our room was Starboard side, midship and it was in a great location.

I had a balcony room and thought the balcony space was typical. The friend I traveled with was a smoker so we did spend quite a bit of time out there and never felt that there wasnt enough space. Youre sitting how much space does a person need?! The room layout was pretty comfortable. Our beds were split into two twins which put one of the beds very close to the closet. Yes, it was a tight space but I could sit on the bed, pick out my clothes and off I went. If I was a large person I suppose it could be difficult. There was plenty of space in the closet and lots of shelving. There was no drawer space, per se; however there were more shelves under the TV area behind cabinet doors. There are shelves and cabinets everywhere. The bathroom was a comfortable size as well with two large shelves for personal items. I liked the center-frosted shower door vs. the usual shower curtain that can suck fast to you when youre wet. They have added the foot step in the shower for ease of ladies shaving legs. I still dont like the shower gel provided I prefer bars of soap. I actually went down to the shop to purchase a bar, but they didnt sell them. Guess I need to buy a travel soap dish and bring my own next time. The non-fog mirror is always a nice touch too. The interactive TV in the cabin was nice you could get show and dinner reservations without even leaving your room or picking up the phone. The system even showed you what was available in real time. In an effort to conserve energy there is a new lighting system in the cabins on this ship (new to me anyway) wherein you place your cabin card in a slot at the door and the lighting works when you leave the cabin and you remove the card the lights go out. There is also an electronic system above the exterior of the door for Make up Room  Read entire member review.

We were on Deck 10, cabin 10912, which is an Aft-Facing Penthouse Suite. We really liked the layout and decor of the suite. The decor is very classic and chic, not cruise-shippy at all really -- no flowers or pinky-orange colors to be found. The suite had a living room, small bathroom, separate bedroom (separated by a DOOR, not just a curtain), and a very large master bathroom with walk-in (large) shower, huge tub, and WC. There was also a HUGE balcony, which had a square dining table for 4, four chairs for the table, two comfortable chaises, and two other upright chairs with cushions. You are doing yourself a disservice if you find yourself in a suite like this and don't have breakfast on your balcony at least a couple of times. Back to the room. The living room has a flat screen TV, armchair, and a sofa which turns into a twin bed (max. occupancy is 3). There is also a table with 4 chairs for dining, and a bar with a refrigerator/mini-bar, Lavazza coffeemaker/coffees/teas, and various cutlery/glassware/bar tools that might be needed. The smaller bathroom is here as well, with just a single sink, toilet, and a shower. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, flat screen TV, and the big bathroom. (I will note that considering the size of the bathroom overall, a few more inches could have been spared on the WC portion of the bathroom -- the toilet cubby felt VERY much like being in airplane bathroom, unfortunately. Slightly claustrophobia-inducing.) One thing that is important to note if considering booking an Aft-Penthouse Suite is that NOT ALL FLOORPLANS ARE THE SAME in this category. I am thinking this is why they do not show a floorplan for this category of suite on the NCL website! I believe most of the suites are like ours, where the entrance to the balcony is from the sliding door in the living room only, and the master BATH, not the master bedroom, has the big picture window looking out to the balcony/sea. There are two decks (I BELIEVE it is 11 and 14 but am not positive) that feature a different layout, in which the master bedroom and bathroom switch places, so the bathroom would not have the seaview but the bedroom does, and consequently also has a secondary door (not a slider) out to the balcony. I can see how it would be useful if you wanted to get outside at night without waking whomever is sleeping in the living room. That said, I liked this configuration perfectly well and loved the shower with the big window to the sea. The rainfall shower-head was heavenly and I thought the bathroom was really well designed overall. Plus, I could still see the sea from my bed as the bed faces the doorway between the bedroom/bathroom. (Which, by the way, does NOT have a door, but just a curtain. The WC does have its own door though.) Lastly, the storage space in this cabin is UNBELIEVABLE. I way over-packed, and I had everything put away neatly with drawers and closets to SPARE. I cannot imagine a scenario where this cabin wouldn't have enough storage space for someone.

Studio cabin closet were small but functional, it's a matter of being organized, I had a few organizers with me. Store luggage under the bed. The square table I put against wall under the phone served as a night table. And it also a good storage spot for small things. I placed all toiletries on shelves. The bed is very comfortable.

The toilet area is very small can quite close the door, flushing is a bit delayed, the sink is small and when you wash face or brush teeth some water falls on the floor these things have to do with poor design not much that you can do about it at this point. But these things did not ruin my cruise I was there to have a good time and that is just what happened.

I had a single cabin in the Singles Lounge area on Deck 11. The room was "hip" in styling and provided an amazing amount of storage. There is a double bed and two closet spaces. The beds are incredibly comfortable. The shower is a bit small, but not overly inconvenient. I appreciated the ability to have my own room without paying the single supplement that is so often the only option. The only thing about these rooms is that they are all interior state rooms with no windows. That was a bit of a bummer. But I would definitely do it again. The value for the dollar was more than worth it!

I'm 62 and she's 58. The idea of a cabin for one was intriguing to us (she says I snore) and it was on a new ship, the Breakaway, out of NYC. What could be better than that? We sailed on the Bermuda trip from May 18 to May 25 2014. The studio cabins are supposed to be priced just a bit less than 200% of a standard cabin. This can be pricey, but still somewhat of a savings. But Susan did her homework and watched this cruise for weeks and when we booked just 10 days prior, the two studio cabins combined was less than the price of the two of us sharing an inside cabin. Susan tried to call NCL at 6:30 am but they don't open until 8 am. Not wanting to lose the cabins, she called Vacations to go and booked the reservations before 7 am. She was also able to call me and ask if it was okay, and then called VTG back and made minor adjustments. We always buy travel insurance but NCL is too expensive. We go to Insuremytrip, com and get reasonably priced insurance from them.Sue and I are seasoned cruise passengers. Because we booked so late, we could not get adjoining rooms. I was in 11555 and Sue was in 11543. We were maybe 4 doors away from each other. As it happened, her room and mine were mirror images of each other. The room is cozy..about 100 square feet. It has a queen size bed and a few throw pillows and regular pillows. There is a night light/shelf above the bed. There is about a two foot wide aisle and then you have the storage. two full length closets with plenty of hangers. There were also a few shelves towards the bottom. One of the closets contained the ubiquitous safe. Between the closets was a small desk with a good sized flat screen TV above it. There was also a sink and then another rack of cubby shelves. Plenty of outlets. The other side of the bed features a wall to the corridor...but with a large circular window that is frosted glass with blinds and shutters. I stood outside Sue's room and tapped on the window. She could see shadows but nothing else. Looking in to the cabin, you see nothing. It gave some light at night if you didn't want a totally dark cabin. But I bring a small night light anyway. The toilet is in its own closet. there is also a stand alone tube shower that is frosted. There is no bar soap. The soap provided is liquid in a dispenser in the shower stall and the sink. There is a door to a connecting room between the shower and the toilet closet. It was locked. Lastly, the Breakaway has an energy saving gadget. You have to put your room key in the slot to get electric in the room. Its also good for people who forget where they left the card. I was trying to charge my camera battery when i was out of the room. No good. No electric. Could only do at night. The room does not have a refrigerator or a clock. Otherwise, we loved the room. Best thing in cruising yet--5 stars for it. To get into the Studio suite, you need a key card from the main corridor. There are 50 studios divided between decks 10 and 11. As a studio guest, you also have access to the studio lounge...a 2 story sitting space with chairs and tables and board games. There is a bar that is occasionally manned (we don't drink so we didn't care) There is also coffee and tea and orange juice available all day along with cookies or pound cake. There is also fruit. There is a wine vending machine (they are all over the ship) and a regular vending machine with bottled water and Gatorade. I wish they had juice or soda. I;'m too old for Gatorade. Jovan, a member of the cruise staff holds solo parties in the lounge and meet and mingles for all solo travelers, not just studio guests. When you stop by the lounge, there is usually someone there. Ages went from 20's to travelers probably in their 70's or more. Very eclectic mix.

Studio Cabin 11573: This looks exactly the same as the Epic with a few subtle differences and ones that if you’re not paying attention, you wouldn’t notice. On the left as you enter the cabin is the compartment for the toilet (not see through) and the see through shower stall. I chose a cabin which was not connecting so I didn’t keep up my neighbor with my music playing. The connecting door would’ve been between the shower and the toilet stalls. Ahead on entry is the sink and it is in-cabin. To the left of the sink is a row of cubby holes to put towels, sundries and the bottom one is the trash. Storage is plenty under the sink and two closets with doors which slide to the left over the sink and TV. Differences to Epic’s studios is the lighting schema. On Epic, there are four lighting options for the lights surrounding the wall of storage spaces and sink and along the top of the bed. On Breakaway, there’s only one option: White. I missed the multi-color setting. It was like having your own disco! Also, the shower head on the Epic had alternating settings between pulsing and rain and on Breakaway it was only the rain setting.

11603- handicapped inside, location right off the forward elevator.... room very wheelchair friendly. My sister had no problem with the toilet or the showerchair. There was a large closet as well that included a shelf and 3 shoe shelves. There was a desk and chair with 3 drawers. The only thing missing was cosmetic shelves in the bathroom and vanity area. Since our room was handicapped, everytime the door bell was rung or we received a phone call, an alarm rang, a buzzer buzzed, and a light flashed. the first few times scared the crap out of us.  Read entire member review.

CABIN: (A)
Room 11663 was an inside cabin and it was perfect for the two of us. Excellent Cabin Steward and great service. BTW anyone in their cabin for longer than 8 hours (sleep, nap, dress and change) is MISSING THE POINT OF THE CRUISE!!!! Insde Cabin Rooms decent size and bathrooms somewhat larger than other ships I have been on. ONLY negative comment: need an outlet in the bathrrom for Electric shavers.

11th floor studio

Studio smaller than I expected. Sliding closet doors from all surrounding cabins kept me awake because they banged when opened and closed. Headboard from my cabin and cabin next door was connected and separated only by a thin wall. I had to deal with a man snoring all week in the next room so I lost a lot of sleep. Guest services told me to get ear plugs to solve the problem. Are they kidding? I paid a lot of money for my privacy and never it had. The studio lounge for solo travelers never had a crowd on any given night. Really a waste of space on the ship. Nothing was complimentary in the lounge except coffee and cookies. They only changed the sheets maybe twice on the entire trip and I had dust under my bed.
Heard people in the narrow hallways all night. Good luck staying in these rooms.

The cabin itself was great. The bed was by the door to the balcony which was nice at night (rather then the couch being next to the balcony). The balcony was not as big as other ships I have been on, but it was comfortable for 2 people to sit and read or watch the sunset. The bathroom was average size for a balcony room, but used the space better then other ships. The water pressure was great, and the shower fixtures were nice.

We went on a family cruise in 4 inside family cabins on the 12th deck, 2 people per cabin.

Our cabin had the two bunk beds attached to the walls. They stuck out further than the walking space on the side of the queen bed. This meant that you got to your bed by starting at the end of the bed, turned to face the bed, and bent over so that you didn't hit your back or head on the bunk. Then you walk sideways to the head of the bed. So we are talking about no more than 1 foot on each side of the bed.

One of our family cabins (12451) had the bunks in the ceiling which did give a more open feeling. But this cabin had something happening on the other side of the wall - sounded like an ice machine only louder throughout the night.

There is no seating, except the bed in the room. There is a box (holds the extra linens...so it is not really yours to use) with a cushion on top that is under the desk. But, the end of the desk is pretty much at the end of the bed (so if this is your side of the bed you have to overcome this obstacle before approaching the one above), so it is not really usable as a seat.

There are no drawers, just plenty of shelf space. Knowing this after reading the reviews, I purchased several fabric covered boxes with ties that when untied lie flat in my luggage (Thank you TJ Maxx double clearance). Worked out perfectly - 1 for undies, 1 for bras, 1 for cosmetics. So, with this foresight, we had plenty of storage space including my scuba gear.

It was a little bigger than a normal inside cabin and had 2 bunk beds that dropped down from the ceiling. The biggest problem was that it was located immediately behind the Splash Academy halfway between the two banks of elevators. Once I walked all of the way from one bank to the other as I missed the turn to my cabin.

Our cabin was 12679. It was an inside handicap cabin at the back of the ship. The room was very spacious because it was handicap. The bathroom was also spacious, but shelf space was lacking in the bathroom. We used our carry-on luggage as shelves. My friends had inside rooms next to us, and they were very small. I would strongly recommend bringing your own wire hangers to hang more things. Inside rooms are VERY quiet as doors are not opposite outside rooms but instead in their own hallway.  Read entire member review.

Better than expected... by Jersey Travelers

A bit tight, especially when the sofa bed has been made up. There is no seat or chair infront of the mirror. The balcony is small, but not uncomfortable. We like to leave the door open when at sea and in port, but unfortunately, NCL allows passengers to smoke on their balcony's, which quickly filled the cabin, forcing us to keep it closed more than we liked.

The cabin was clean, sufficient in size for a family of four and had all the amenities I would have hoped. We had a great view of Bermuda in port and had great views at night. One of the memories I will take from this trip is the time I spent with my teenage son talking each night on the balcony and looking at the night sky over the ocean.

Loved my cabins mini suites 12802 and 12834 (children's). Beds were so comfy. I slept so well. The AC was great and the water pressure and shower were awesome.
We could not hear the Splash Academy, I could hear my neighbor a few times, but nothing too much. Had tons of storage and closet was a great size for a cruise ship.

Ask the steward to take out off of the sodas in the fried so you can add your own water.

Hair dryer is under counter in living space, couch is big enough for an adult to sleep on, my 18 year old slept on it fine, just ask for more bedding. They split the larger bed in two for my other two sons.

The key entry buttons were great for privacy. A red light means do not disturb, green the steward can come in, a blue white means someone is in the room. If you don't need your bed pulled down or cleaned twice a day, leave the do not disturb on. My steward was so busy he didn't have time to go ashore like the Casino and some other staff did. I'm and adult and don't need my bed turned down.

Your key card is your electricity, but the AC still works. So your phone or I pad will not charge if the key isn't in the slot.

Norwegian has a phone App to use while on board, so a cell phone is handy while on board especially to keep updated on events etc. The daily planers were great. They are left outside your door.

4 person room with bed by balcony door. Sofa turns into a bed and bed pulls down from ceiling. There was still enough space to get into the closets and bathroom when everything was set up and we are not small people. The room has robes and coffee maker. We had 2 adults and 2 children in the room and had enough space for all our cloths, extras, toys and coloring books. We slept most nights with the balcony door open and listened to the water all night. The room will make a quiet suction whistling at the door to enter the room when the balcony door is open and the boat is in motion. However it was easy to tune out and honestly you could only really hear it by the bathroom. Think about it, my children age 4 and 6, my husband and myself all slept threw it. The room steward was good. The room was always clean and the kids always had towel animals. He put the bed down at night and back up in the morning. He emptied out the fridge without issue.

Our room was sufficient. Plenty of storage in the closet, under the bed for luggage and even under the sofa bed. We also found cabinet space in the desk, entertainment area. Mini-bar fridge and individual coffee maker were nice too. Ask your steward to remove the booze and you have a fridge big enough for some water bottles. Balcony had two seats and small table. Nice to sit out in port and in the early mornings. Bathroom had plenty of storage, shower with a glass door and foot pedals for shaving.

Was really impressed with the staterooms. Had a standard balcony room and thought it was really well-designed, in our room the couch was next to the balcony and I think it made the room feel even more spacious. There was TONS of storage for 2 people- way more than we used. Two big drawers under the couch, shelves and hanging room in the closet, storage in the vanity and in the bathroom. You could ask for more hangers if you needed them. The bed was comfortable, and while the balcony was a little small, it was fine for just sitting out there for 2 people. The bathrooms were a major improvement over all other ships I have been on- really big! Not bumping into everything in the bathroom was a major plus on this ship. We felt some slight ship motion on the 13th deck (aft, port side) especially in the rougher weather you can get with this itinerary but nothing major. We did hear some noises in the room at night that I believe was our neighbors flushing their toilet, but overall room noise was pretty minimal. The location behind the aft stairs/elevator lead to only minimal hallway noise which was nice. Once or twice we heard bass from Spics H20 at night but it wasn't bad and was easy to ignore, even for light sleepers. Deck 13 was a good location for walking up to 15/16 or down to 6/7.

Cabin was small but efficient. Some quirks were the card insert to keep the electricity flowing. Remember to bring a card to keep inserted and tell the steward that you need the card left in when you are charging your devices, otherwise you will find that they have not been charged. The balcony edoor must be locked in order for the A/C to work in the room. This took a little getting used to.

Our stateroom was listed as mid-ship but it was definitely aft and small. The veranda wasn't big enough for 2 adults to sit comfortably. This was the first cruise I've taken where we didn't use our veranda at all - very disappointing since we paid for it. The bed was short sheeted which we particularly hated. Why can't they use sheets that actually fit the mattress? There was enough storage space and the bathroom was a surprisingly good size.

We had an inside family cabin, category I1. It was small but adequate. You have to use your key card to turn on the lights. If you take it out of the slot, the lights go out. You can leave it in and then manually turn on and off lights for the room and bathroom, but without a card, no electricity in the room.

The lower bed is two singles pushed together. Plenty of room. The kids' beds are above on either side. They fold up for storage and lay flat, suspended, when in use. They provide a ladder for each bed which can be moved around and out of the way.

Nooks and crannies all over for storage. In the walls, on the left side of the desk, storage for luggage under the big beds, nightstand on either side of the big bed, storage and lights near the headboard which is accessible to the kids up in the beds. Just be careful if you're in the lower bed not to sit up and bang your head on the bunks.

Plenty of ventilation in the room. Vents everywhere and in the bathroom. Plenty of light. Magnetic walls so bring magnet clips for papers and other very light items. Hooks on wall, spacious closet with hangers, shelves and a small safe for your passports, jewelry, etc.

The bathroom had plenty of storage shelving. The shower is a nice size with a height-adjustable shower head which can be removed to be used as a hand-held. Clothes line in shower, so no need to bring one.

The deck plans that were available at the time of my booking, listed my balcony room as one with the bed near the balcony. (This is what I specifically requested) After seeing my cabin on YouTube, I realized it wasn't (or the review was wrong.) I wanted to double check and my NCL Rep (Maggie) called the ship and got confirmation. The bumpouts on the original template were wrong. So if you have your heart set on a particular layout please double check it! 14710 and 14706 are both oriented so the beds are by the balcony.

We had two cabins - a spa balcony (B9) and a family balcony (B2) They were really small for balcony cabins and surprisingly noisy. We could hear the TV and crying children in the cabins next door. The balcony was so small and the chairs so uncomfortable that we never really sat out at all. We did love the beds, found them very comfortable. The bathrooms were surprisingly spacious considering the limited space in the cabin. The spa balcony was fairly close to the stairs on the forward starboard side but the family balcony (also forward starboard) was quite a trek from the stairs. Plus deck 12 is where the kids stuff is so it's extra noisy on that floor.

Cabin 14750. Spa balcony. Good location, close to elevators and stairs. This cabin is considered a forward cabin but it is seemed more of a midship cabin. This makes access to the closet much easier.

Cabin: Occupied a Spa mini Suite on Deck 14 Cabin 14770. Lovely and nice cabin with large bathroom  tiny balcony but the overhang of deck 15 provided shade and shelter from rain. Lots of storage but the room still felt tight. The Bathroom was big and the shower was pleasant with the different spray heads; however would have preferred a tub/Shower combo at this price point. Utilized the spa pass everyday and enjoyed it. Nothing else very special  really liked the NCL EPICs Spa mini-suite much better.

if you are a person who likes to sleep with balcony door open for fresh air - rethink where you have your stateroom on the Breakaway. We were in the port side aft stateroom 14868 - and we had to close our balcony door in order to sleep (we tended to hit the hay at around midnight). This was abit disappointing to us - as we hoped to sleep at night with the door open - even with the chillier temps for our May 25th departure from NYC to Bermuda cruise.

I originally paid for BB small balcony, but since the pricedrop, I called every week to get an upgrade. I already paid 1,000 penalty for the two rooms to rebook and get the UDP, my agent at Marriott. Cruises only wasn't helpful at all. Even the obc promised disappeared when I got an upgrade, which had nothing to do with the TA given obc. Once on board, I called the TA and had to fight them to get back my obc. NCL extended every accommodation. My M6 mini suite at tjeory side has a perfect view of Bermuda, but it doesn't always dock on that side. The balcony is big enough to lay down and relax, sleep in the afternoon if it is too hot, or sunbathe at sunset. The shower has decent size, the sink is double, bfeat for 4- person accomodation.

Use caution when booking these rooms on deck 14 starboard side. The rooms closest to the elevator banks are near a staff closet which the housekeeping staff uses early in the morning. This results in a constant slamming of a very heavy door every minute or so, lasting for hours. If you intend on sleeping in, this will disturb you.

The Haven family suite is smaller than similar suites on Jewel class ships. The living room area is noticeably smaller and the balcony is very small for a room of this type. The room has a lot of furniture which is typically appreciated, but the size of the cabin cannot accommodate all the furniture. The master bathroom is spacious. I would have traded some bathroom space for additional living room space. The second bathroom and bedroom are small, but the layout was good in view of the space constraints. Still a very nice room, but for the substantially price you pay for a Haven suite, I would expect a bit more room both inside and outside the cabin.

Breakaway needs help by sportsmomtwo

We had two adjoining inside cabins on deck 12 mid ship. While the cabins were very small, the bathroom was a nice size. There is NO storage/drawer space. Luckily, we brought two large portable shelves that fold up that hang from the closet rod. Without that, there was not enough room for two people's clothes for one week. The room is very poorly designed - there is a table/desk with a mini-bar/refrig underneath which was never cold enough to cool even a water bottle. That space should have been used for a dresser. The shelves in the closet are barely wide enough to hold shirts. Pants had to be folded twice to fit on the shelf. Housekeeping was not a highlight of the cruise. I was very surprised at how "unkept" the entire ship was. Sailing on the fifth sail should have provided an immaculate ship - it did not.

We had a basic balcony cabin on deck 14. It was small, cramped, with a lack of storage space. The balcony was very small, too small to sit out there for any length of time comfortably. The bathroom was okay, bigger than on other ships.
The television offered several news channels, Nickelodeon, one channel for shows and one for old movies. And then they charge $10 to watch any other movie! This is a rip off!
There are no bathroom toiletries, so bring what you need.

9th floor, above the shuffleboard court. So it was not very private and a bit noisy at times. When the smokers were indoors and the shuffleboard court was empty, it was wonderful and calming to hear the water break against the ship. I could live on a cruise ship forever just to hear that sound!

Nice big bathroom but tiny balcony

Small balcony room with not too much draw space and the balcony was very small but the bathroom was a good size.

The room was a nice standard size. Nothing special, but it was nice. The bathroom was a good size. There was a ton of storage in the room. We had two connecting rooms, and the 8 of us fit in there fine. The fourth bed is a bunk bed that pulls out from the ceiling above the couch. The balcony was smaller than other cruise lines that I have been on. The hallways are VERY narrow. Two people cannot pass each other in the hallway, so one person is always stuck moving into someone's doorways. When there is a cleaning cart in the hallway, it is very tight as well.

Cabin 12704:

Fantastic view. BIG window facing the bow of the boat. Lots of light. Away from the hustle & bustle of the ship. VERY quiet. Only downside is if you get seasick, you may be better in a cabin that in the middle of the boat. Bed was VERY comfortable. Plenty of storage space IMO.

We were blessed to have a balcony room, which was surprisingly well fitted for 4 people - tight, but doable! The room was kept nicely and always clean.

Balcony Mid Ship. Deck 10. Poor upkeep. Too Small. Sleeps three but NO chairs in the room and only two chairs on the balcony which was small. So much for breakfast for three on the balcony...Three people could not even stand on the balcony.

Amazed at how quiet our mid-ship cabin was. Only sound was toilets flushing on occasion (sounds like ice machine dispensing). Bed was comfortable as were linens. Additional bed was too stiff. Bathroom had good storage and decent shower. Really like and felt comfortable in the cabin.

Room was okay. We had a spa mini suite with a balcony which was smaller than regular balcony rooms we've had on other cruise lines. Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a nice size and the shower was great

Noisy room: Almost directly over Fat Cats. Floor vibrated with the music and you could hear the instruments and words of the song....that bad

Balcony is the smallest I have ever had on a ship.

Not enough room storage, no draws.

Prior to trip, I read the room reviews and brought the following extra's with me in my suitcases:
1. Bar soap
2. Shampoo bottle
3. Extra clothes hangers
4. Over the door pocket storage for socks, under ware, etc.

Our cabin was great, cozy for 4 of us, but it worked! The bunks were great for the kids (Upper bed comes down from the ceiling and couch is made into a bed ) Loved having a balcony! Comfortable bed!

Great balcony
Aft location. Great views and quiet location.
However, you do feel more motion there than other areas. Plus, it's a Haven suite but not in the actual Haven so you need to walk to the other end of the ship and go up 5 levels.
Comfortable beds.
