We had a balcony cabin on Aloha deck (deck 11). Cabin A336 (port side). We were careful this time not to choose a cabin that is directly under the Riviera Bar so whilst there were no loud scraping noises from the moving of the furniture, chairs and tables whenever people were getting on and off chairs and no issues with smoking fumes, the cabin was really getting a bit too shabby for my liking. The cabin is not cheap being on A deck but I found that the upholstered bed head was badly stained in the regions where your head is supposed to rest (no doubt from greasy hair) which is off putting. The carpet in this cabin is stained just a bit too much in my opinion to be passable anymore. These cabins really need to be refitted again (not that I know when the last refit was) but we were on this ship 6 months ago and you can really see the deterioration even in that short amount of time which I suppose comes from constant 24/7 use year in year out. Even the picture on the wall had a brown watermark stain on it that I woke up to each morning. Its really not a luxury cabin so keep your expectations low so that you wont be disappointed. Also note that these cabins are a bit small for balcony rooms. In the other cruise ships we have been on we did have a 2 seater lounge in each of the balcony rooms so you dont have to watch TV on the bed all the time. I put up with the sheets last time and didnt worry about them but this time they were even more of a really old bone colour. The sheets are not a crisp new white colour and whilst they seemed to be clean, Princess really need to bite the bullet and get some new linen. You can only use this stuff for so long before people start to complain. Perhaps the men dont notice that type of thing but women tend to a bit more and I spoke to another woman on the ship who was not happy with her sheets either. Our bed was so hard that after the first 3 nights I had some real concerns about how my back was going to go after a couple of weeks of this type of torture. I thought that my back was going to snap in half. My husband asked the room attendant if we could sleep on the doona and then obtain another doona for the top of us so that it would make the bed a bit softer to lie on. He said that he could help with the problem and that night he had remade the bed with a foam overlay over it. I was so grateful as not only was the bed more comfortable but that dreaded gap in the middle between the two beds was eliminated and all in all it was really good after that point. But they wouldnt have those sorts of foam covers for every bed so if everyone asked for one, I doubt that theyd be able to help everyone. Personally, I think that the beds all need renewing but perhaps Im being unreasonable about that aspect.  Read entire member review.

We had a balcony cabin on Aloha deck (deck 11). Beware of cabin A410 (port side) and also any cabins near this one on the port side for 2 reasons. Firstly, it is on deck 11 which is obviously more expensive, yet this cabin was directly under the Riviera Bar and quite often you could hear very loud scraping noises from the moving of the furniture, chairs and tables whenever people were getting on and off chairs and also I assume when staff were repositioning furniture on the deck early morning and late evening. It wasnt bad enough to stop us resting or sleeping but I just thought Id better mention it. Secondly, the port side directly underneath the cabins around A410 is a smoking area as it is adjacent to the Riviera Bar. All smokers gather in this area to smoke (I dont know if there are other areas on the ship where they can smoke) but in this area there can be 10 or more people at any one time smoking and the smoke wafts down into the cabins directly below of which A410 was one. It can be very overpowering if you are not a smoker and if you have your balcony door open which you would want to do for a lot of the time as that is why you have paid the extra money. We had to shut the door on a number of occasions, so if you have a choice of cabins then consider a cabin away from this area for the above two reasons. Also the cabin was a bit small for a balcony room. In the other cruise ships we have been on we did have a 2 seater lounge in each of the balcony rooms we have had so you dont have to watch TV on the bed all the time. The room was a bit worn as many of these older ships are, but it was still OK. The bathroom was very small but still OK. Some rust on the balcony and what looked like large salt deposits stuck to the frames of the balcony doors on the inside of the room. The sheets did not seem a crisp new white colour but more of a light beige colour but they looked clean so it was OK for us. There was also a motor starting up somewhere near our corridor or in a shaft somewhere near us resulting in a whirring engine noise in our room which we noticed seemed to come and go. It went for good eventually but if it had continued, it may have become a bit more of a problem when trying to get to sleep. We did call the pursers office and they sent a man quickly but it had gone by the time he got there and he said that he hadnt done anything to fix it and I got the impression that it was not something that could have been fixed very easily anyway if it had continued.  Read entire member review.

Very spacious, excellent cupboard space, easy to move around, bathroom facilities plenty of space and so easy to maneuver around, great having handrails, balcony views were terrific, very quiet cabin, comfortable bed, worth spending the extra money on this room, especially including laundry, fresh fruit delivered daily, chocolates on bed each night, flower arrangement and many other extras, very impressed with layout of this suite.  Read entire member review.

We were on the starboard side in a balcony cabin, and would never consider having an inside cabin. When going through the fjords we ordered room service and just sat and watched. There was plenty of room for two of us - the only thing I would have liked was a bath! (will have to save up a bit more next time).  Read entire member review.
