Oceanview stateroom with a private balcony and twin beds that convert to a king. Every Carnival guest is assured of spacious, comfortable accommodations. All staterooms have carpeting, ample drawer and closet space, private facilities (shower, basin and toilet), telephone and color television showing first-run films. Our ships all feature staterooms above ocean level for a more comfortable cruise.
Cabin 6498 Premium Aft Balcony - We were on the Upper deck aft just above the Burgundy Lounge. We were told by the Carnival PVP when we booked the cabin that the Burgundy Lounge would quiet down around 11PM. Against my better judgement, I booked it along with my friends we had 3 cabins in a roll over the lounge. I should have listened to my better judgement. The speakers for the Burgundy Lounge are connected to our floor and there were a couple of nights when the band started up at midnight. If you are a night owl and won't be going to bed before 1AM, this is a great room overlooking the back of the ship with a larger balcony.
All the ports are excellent. You have to tender to Belize City so expect a long wait before you can actually tender if you don't have an excursion booked with Carnival. Read entire member review.
TWO issues with this room/balcony. As the days went on, the ash/soot problem got worse. Quarter sized pieces of black ash. It was gross! The steward didn't clean it unless asked. It was on the deck, chairs and railing. Some friends made the mistake of leaning on the railing (in their good cloths) before I could say anything and the stuff just doesn't wipe off. We carried it in on our feet in the mornings when we went out to see the new ports. If I wanted to sit on the balcony I had to wipe things down. Some days were worse than others. This really sucked and took away much of the enjoyment of the balcony. SECOND BIG ISSUE: the dividers between these balconies is slanted at an angel, not straight up and down. I guess to give the back of the ship a more streamlined look. This means that your neighbors can see your entire balcony without trying to snoop!! I was unpacking the first afternoon and looked up to see my "neighbor" watching me. Not only could he see our balcony, but our entire BED. There is no privacy in this room unless you close your blinds and why have a balcony if you can't look out it? Let me make this very clear: WE WILL NEVER BOOK AN AFT BALCONY AGAIN! Very roomy and a fantastic view. The only drawback to the aft cabin was that the balcony dividers are slanted so you can see onto your neighbors balcony and they can see yours. You will get to know your neighbor! There is also A LOT of walking because the cabin is at the very back of the ship. It is very quiet and not near any public areas. The balcony had two upright chairs, a table and a lounge chair. A little crowded, but not bad. I would highly recommend an aft-balcony cabin on the Empress deck if you don't mind walking.
Cabin 7463, aft-extended balcony: room was great size with a couch & small table, lots of closet space, very quiet, some rumbles when pulling into port for a few minutes, no big deal. Balcony is not covered, one chair, one chair that reclines to a short lounge & one end table. Dividers are at an angle, you will meet your neighbors. FYI: Cabin 7461 next to us was much smaller with no couch or table, but they had a lounge chair on the balcony and the balcony was a little bigger, maybe 3 - 4 feet wider, but all were same depth. Cabin 7465 on our other side had more room in cabin by about 2 feet between couch and night stand. We also saw cabin 7459 (corner, cat 9) had no couch and was smaller that ours, that was a big shock! Great veiw, great balcony. There are some noise issues. The cabin stewards seem to make a lot of noise starting at 8 AM. I think they want you up and out so they can clean the room. Plenty of storage and a nice size room considering it is on a ship. Read entire member review.
7467 - Aft extended balcony - great cabin - has a couch and bed, small refrigerator, safe. One outlet very far from the bed (would need at least a 15 foot cord to use a cPAP machine in bed. Read entire member review.
