- 8th deck cabin forward, port side, is very noisy from Bliss lounge below - Balcony is open above and cigarette butts and other items thrown from the 5 decks above fall on the balcony - Bed reading light is difficult to use and has a narrow beam - Cabin is very narrow, with tiny closets and lavatory within - Toilet flush is very noisy - Bed is comfortable - Light above lavatory is very weak. The switch is under the cabinet - Wavy cabin wall leaves a gap between the wall and the bed and eat half of the sofa's space  Read entire member review.

Not so Epic a cruise? by Ft. Lauderdale Native
The cabins are pathetically small, at least the entry level balcony rooms. There is NO way two people can pass between the bed and the cabinets. Normally a room like this will have a small desk top area and a chair, for doing make up, or writing, or computer work, or? Our room had a tiny counter top space and a small stool. I had read a number of reviews about the layout of the bath facilities, and quite frankly didn't know what to expect. When I walked into the cabin for the first time I was shocked. There is NO bathROOM!!!! When you open the door, there is a small shower stall on one side of the door, and a small toilet area on the other side. Each with half round sliding doors. These are separated from the "main" cabin by nothing more than a drape. The sink, about the size and shape of a football, is in the main cabin area at the end of the bed. What they did in the design of this ship is to take EVERY possible inch of deck space they could from wherever they could to add more cabins. The room walls are curved. This is so the areas that REQUIRE space (bed length, walkway, cabinets) can have it, but yet they can "take back" some of that floor space in the sitting area. That is why the ship is shaped like a huge shoe box. That is why all the compromises in the cabin "amenities". On their own TV recorded sales pitch for future cruise sales the gal even pointed out that all future NCL ships were being built with BATHROOMS. We were disappointed with our balcony. We were in room 8195, and it has some sort of a drain pipe coming down from the above decks that stops over a drain flange in the floor of the balcony of this room. It makes a rather loud gurgling noise all the time. We have come to enjoy at least one breakfast on the balcony on each cruise. I have shoulder issues, and end up having to get up out of bed and go back to sleep in a recliner at home. On numerous occasions of other cruises I was able to fall asleep on the balcony in a recliner, or the chair in the sitting area, niether of which this ship had. The deck furniture was disappointing. Two small chairs, and a tiny table that might be suitable to hold two drinks and muffin. NO WAY to order a tray of breakfast, or to recline on your balcony like on most other ships.  Read entire member review.

Great beds! Expansive storage, Wonderful views! If you need to book 2 balcony cabins,(and you don't need them to be next to each other)I would recommend booking one cabin on each of the ship (one port side and one on the starboard side) This way you can always have the very the balcony views no matter how the ship docks! We booked #8199 #8200.  Read entire member review.

Room 8208 (floor 8, Red side even) Eugene was our friendly and helpful cabin staff member. * Location: Far back end of the ship on the left hand side, 8th floor * size ample for two people - would be a squeeze for any more * Decent wardrobe space * TV and remote * Telephone (info on phone in Spanish) * Different lighting in room which was great for different times of the day and mood setting - however, the blue lamp light switches and phone had to be manually covered at night for a darkened room * Many areas for storage in the room * Mini bar at a cost per item (obtain a key from cabin staff) * Safe in room * Balcony overlooking ocean/ports * Surprisingly quiet considering we were informed by the travel agents that the engines are loud on the lower decks * Breakfast arrived early twice in four days that we ordered it waking my partner and I up * The room was made up and checked regularly Overall we were pretty happy with our room. We paid $1300pp  Read entire member review.

bathroom set up is impersonal and beds are too short, also do not like walking through casino to get to main floor, not proper for the nonsmokers to be subjected to that  Read entire member review.

Cabin 8209 was the very last cabin on the starboard side of the ship. It was quiet. The hallway area was quiet (I believe because we were so tucked away), but it was a LONG walk to walk to the front of the ship for breakfast! Good thing I power walk every day!!! If you have an aversion to exercise, don't book the very ends of this ship. Two things about our cabin worthy of mention: 1)the door didn't always shut tight. You had to check to make sure it was latched tight and clicked (even when it looked shut tight) to make sure your cabin was secure. 2) the layout of this cabin was such that I can't imagine two couples sharing a room or any adult sharing that you are not VERY close to. No problem for hubby and I, but we have cruised in the past with our kids, a niece, my sister, etc. and in those situations, this new bathroom concept would not work out very well. On this trip we traveled with friends (who had their own cabin), but on the nights that they came to our room to get us for dinner, they would step out into the hallway if we were not quite ready, since brushing your teeth or a quick application of lipstick could not be done discreetly behind a door. You can't let someone in if your partner is still in the shower, since the door is right next to the shower stall. Not a huge problem, just very different than the norm. I understand that most cabins on this ship have this new bathroom concept.  Read entire member review.

As has been reviewed & discussed elsewhere on the net, the standard balcony cabins are impractical, uncomfortable, awkward and just plain stupid. When you step into the cabin you are actually in the bathroom with the shower on one side and the toilet on the other each enclosed by semi-transparent sliding doors resulting in very little privacy. A tiny sink is located at the foot of the smallish bed making it impossible for 2 people to squeeze past each other. There was ample closet space and the balcony was a good size.  Read entire member review.

The electrical outlet is under the TV, finding it can be tricky. You have to have your key card in the slot to the right as soon as you enter your cabin for the electricity to work in the cabin. The sinks are pretty shallow too so watch the water presure.  Read entire member review.

Wonderful location amidships. No motion from sea. In between both banks of elevators. Covered balcony. Unbelievable storage. Good view. No noise.  Read entire member review.

Big closet; adequate balcony, mid ship with good overall location between the two elevators; would have preferred bed next to balcony door but every other cabin is laid out that way due to curved walls; Bathroom layout takes some getting used to.  Read entire member review.

We had one of the wave cabins. They have curvy walls and where the wall curves out, the wall in the adjacent cabin curves in, and vice versa. The theory is that by putting the bed in the space where the wall curves out, the cabin can be narrower and deeper than standard cabins but appear to be as spacious. The reality, though, is that it doesnt. Both my wife and I had the same thought when we first stepped through the door: Its a bit narrow, isnt it! Even worse, theres a no passing zone bottleneck at the foot of the bed, which means that even with just two people in the cabin, youre forever getting in each others way. I dont know how a family with children would manage or even if I could for more than a week. Another big problem is the lack of a proper bathroom. The tiny washbasin is situated in the main part of the room, not far from the no passing zone at the foot of the bed, while the shower and toilet are opposite each other just inside the room's doorway (both concealed by sliding translucent glass doors). More modest types can spare their blushes with a curtain that pulls across to hide the area from the rest of the cabin but it does mean that when you have a shower all the water that normally ends up on the bathroom floor now ends up on the cabin floor. Its not helped by the fact that all the towels are stored by the washbasin in the main cabin anyway. So if you forget to pick up a towel before you step into the shower, stand by for a flood! The plus about the cabins, though, is that they are nicely decorated in an elegant, modern fashion, theres plenty of storage space and they have quite a big flat screen LCD TV. And the bed is really comfortable. Five stars all round in that respect.  Read entire member review.

EPIC UPS AND DOWNS by cathy robertson
Cabin 10016 - check out the balcony. We thought we had won a watch as it appeared on the deck plan to be twice as long as the others but it had no glass frontage therefore felt very enclosed. Open space felt like we had a window with no glass. So we were a wee bit disappointed that we had paid an extra 600 plus to enjoy a balcony. On the subject of the opaque glass shower and separate toilet...hmm, not too keen although you only saw the outline because it was opaque, however on a ship which on every corner squirted you with disinfectant (which is excellent to note!!) why put the wash hand (tiny) basin in the cabin itself. Obviously when you hmmm wipe yourself, you then have to pull open the door and cross to the basin to clean your hands?? Hey who thought this one up.  Read entire member review.

I explained my cabin in my review. But again, if you are 3 people and they are selling you a standard balcony room, Don't take it!!! Book larger or book another cruise line or ship  Read entire member review.

cabin 10064 balcony.nice cabin but don't like wave design, bad bathroom design.sink too small and away from bathroom. don't like curved bed - feet stick out of bottom. comfortable mattress. no space at end of bed to walk. great balcony which offers tranquility away from the madness. lots of storage space. state rooms away from entertainment as having cruised with Carnival in which our cabin was over a karaoke bar, is why we like design of ncl ships.  Read entire member review.

7 Epic Days by Psolar
Great balcony overlooking other balconies and no one overlooks you. Just one neighbor. Bigger than other balconies in the same category. Bed by the bathroom (would be better by the balcony) Not much room between the bed and counter. Lots of storage. Very efficient design overall  Read entire member review.

Epic Cabin #11169 BF Large Balcony Bed was close to balcony. Was narrow for 2 people to pass. Great Shower. No problem with sink splashing. Entrance to toilet area would be very tight for larger people.  Read entire member review.

Mixed Reviews for Epic by sunsister10
#11316--aft cabin overlooking stern. Poor layout-supposedly for three persons but two only comfortable because we are good friends. Larger than average balcony. Not a problem for us, but long walk (obviously) from fore of ship. Sink splashes, shower steps out in back of door, translucent barrier around toilet not suitable for two strangers.  Read entire member review.

If you get a balcony room, try to get a '103' room. It has an extra-large space for two lounge chairs. My room was not a '103'. It had plenty of storage space and a decent vertical (?) layout. The split toilet & shower took a bit of getting used to.  Read entire member review.
