Toilet and shower areas are not separated from cabin interior as others have described. Plenty of storage, but location of closets makes it necessary to climb across bed if cabin mate using sink or small dressing table area.  Read entire member review.

8024, balcony. We left our balcony door open each night and fell asleep to the ocean. Only heard noise from bliss lounge on one night, but not for very long. Rooms balcony does not have a cover on it and sticks out from other rooms, we liked this because we laid out here rather than the pool deck on some days. I liked the bathroom set up, largest shower I have had at sea, not possible with out splitting them. Loved room on 8th floor. Closer to public areas on decks 5-7. Also easy to get off ship on port days on deck 4.  Read entire member review.

An Epic week by aseligman
Room was a little small but didn't feel cramped, at least for a solo traveler. I loved, loved, loved having a balcony. The contemporary decor was nice and there was plenty of storage space, so the room never felt cluttered. I didn't mind the bathroom/sink setup but could see why it might bother people. I DID NOT like the curved couch; it looked good but was simply uncomfortable. Room was also in a good spot, not too far from the elevator and stairs.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 8096, great location, quiet and not too far to the elevators. I would prefer a regular bathroom but I was able to deal with this setup for a week. Balcony was nice but I really wish we would have been able to open the dividers since we had 8 rooms in a row. They only allow them opened when the boat is not moving. What's the point of that? The rooms were a little cramped because of the new design but they did look nice and had a ton of storage.  Read entire member review.

We were in a balcony room, mid ship (Cabin #8125). The actual layout of the bathroom area reminded me of several hotel bathrooms and modern home bathrooms in which the sink area, toilet and shower are separated. Both the shower and the toilet room have their own frosted glass doors. Its nice to be able to use the toilet facilities while the other person in the room is taking a shower. The shower is one of the largest I have seen on a cruise ship. No wet shower curtains sticking to you while you shower. No bumping into the walls with your knees or elbows. The water pressure, shower head and water temperature were fantastic. No complaints about the shower here. The toilet was loud as are all cruise ship toilets. Guess theres no way to get around that suction noise. We never experienced any sewer smell as has been reported in past reviews. The sink does take a little getting use to. The important thing to remember with it, is that you do not need full pressure to make it work. Too much pressure would occasionally allow water to escape the sink bowl but nothing ever disastrous. For my DW and I, the bathroom layout worked well. Now the bed. Yes, my feet did hang over the edge when I fully stretched out (Im 6 feet tall). Since I usually sleep in the fetal position, this was not a big concern of mine. Also, if I placed my head closer to the nicely padded headboard, my feet would stay within the confines of the bed. The bed was extremely comfortable and there were plenty of pillows available to make anyone happy. The couch was also larger than most we have experienced on a cruise. And the storage, wow, the storage. If you fill up all the storage available in your cabin, then, youve brought way too many clothes. Even my DW, who is known to overpack, was unable to use all the storage. I believe even if there were more than two in the cabin, there would still be adequate storage. The balcony was just above one of the lifeboats and did present a vision obstruction to the water below. Since most of the time we were sitting down in the deck chairs this did not pose much of a problem. But if you do not want to deal with the lifeboats you need to book a higher cabin or in the areas that do not have the lifeboats directly below them. We did not find it a problem but I can see why some people would.  Read entire member review.

Good use of space. Shower room, sink, toilet layout a bit different but never caused us a problem and there is a curtain for extra privacy if you want it. Stylish, modern, with a very comfy bed and plenty of storage...what more do you need, you arent there long! Enjoy it!  Read entire member review.

Design: Whoever designed the staterooms on the Epic and the keycard to have lights in the stateroom really should find a new profession. I would like to think most passengers are not exhibitionists even with their immediate family. The shower, toilet set up behind a curtain at the door entering the stateroom, who thought this up. The pull out bed was the couch that literally was smaller than a twin, curved and hard as a rock. In our room the couch/BED was situated beside the toilet so whoever slept there at nights had their head by the toilet. The keycard for lights how inconvenient! I would say there was a ton of closet space and I was amazed at how sound proof our stateroom was!  Read entire member review.

Epic in 2012 by conreb4
Cabin balcony had a steel plate that restricted the water view when inside the cabin. Also, there was more swaying movement probably due to being the first cabin in the front of the ship. The bed was comfortable, and I liked the shower, toilet setup, although my wife did not like having the sink next to the bed. We would not want this cabin again.  Read entire member review.

Great balcony; small table; fixed back chairs--balcony is large enough for Chaise Lounger which would have been welcomed; room TINY and CRAMPED; toilet and shower are AWFUL; air conditioner vent at mid height at door so person sleeping near door is frozen; to maintain the rounded curvy vibe of the room the first bed had a huge chunk cut off so the bed bottom appeared round---your foot simply hung off; great interactive TV= but on two week cruise it only worked second week; steward was GREAT; small ice bucket; no coffee table; no table between beds; no table at all except tiny table on balcony; sitting on couch your knees hit the closet; don't cruise on the Epic...try the Pearl!!  Read entire member review.

Cabin 10279. This was an aft location where there was a slight bumpout for balcony space. It was also in good proximity to the Aft Elevators. Storage was great. The good things about the cabin itself: * Tastefully decorated * Bed was super comfortable (very wide, but short) * TV was large (for a cruise ship) * Enough storage for the 4 of us The bad things about the cabin: * Did not like the bathroom design (I think most are in agreement here), but not that big of a deal * Cabin is way too narrow! We found it very difficult for us to walk around. This is what annoyed me most about the cabin. When the pullman bed was down, wow, was it hard to get around! Now the BEST thing about this particular cabin - the balcony!! Just like the deck plans show, this is perhaps the largest balcony on the ship. We had 4 chairs in there, and I asked our room steward for a lounger, and they all fit nicely. It's very private too. One of the walls is completely solid (the larger, rear one). Now what I really liked about this balcony is how it is angled. This allows you to sit along the railing, toward the back and look completely forward towards the bridge. I LOVED this because I could feel the warm breeze on me while sitting there. I never thought that the angle of the balcony would be so great, but it was. I wish I had taken a picture showing this. Anyway, if you are booking a quad balcony cabin, this is the one you want!  Read entire member review.

Baby's first cabin. Only one person can walk in the cabin at a time. Thurtaie bathroom is a joke, use the curtain to block the view but not the sounds of the toilet stall, which is seperate from the shower stall. On the plus side, plenty of storage room, nice size balcony, and a good room location.  Read entire member review.

Comfortable cabin and bed, though tight around the bed. Dim lighting above the mirror so hard to do makeup. Turn water on slowly in the sink and you will have no trouble with it. Nice balcony..over all quiet..great view. Loads of storage. Just FYI..the switch for the light over the mirror is located on the bottom of the medicine cabinet..(took us some hunting). There is extra storage behind the sofa backs. Toilet/shower split was really not a problem for us. The shower is large..plenty of room to reach out for your towel and dry off inside shower before stepping out.  Read entire member review.

Western Med Cruise on the Epic by buckeyecruiser44081
A nice large balcony and be prepared to squeeze into the cabin. They took room away space from the cabin to use it for the balcony. The cabins are not very sound proof. We heard people walking around in the room above. These are the smallest cabins we have ever been in. There is only a forward and aft set of stairs, none mid-ship. They eliminated a stairway to get in more cabins.  Read entire member review.

We had a starboard-side, mid-ship balcony on deck 11. The cabin is a bit small, especially the space between the bed and the sink/counter. We had the bed-near-the-door configuration which I would not choose again. These cabins also have the bed near the balcony configuration, which I think is better, as the toilet is not right next to your head! Yes, the toilet and shower compartments are a bit odd, but I like the "external" sink, and it wasn't as splashy as others have said. The shower is great! The storage is fabulous. In addition to a normal-sized long closet, there's a short closet above three roomy drawers. There's a good-sized cabinet under the counter next to the sink for dopp kits, cosmetic bags, etc. and a large cabinet next to the vanity section, which contains the safe and is really deep. Additionally, there are large cubbies behind the back cushions of the sofa, and more cubbies in the bulkhead on the curved wall above the sofa and bed. The only down side for the cabin is there aren't enough hooks/racks for towels and it's a LONG walk to the elevators. For such a large ship, the elevators are in two groups at each end--none in the middle.  Read entire member review.

Typical balcony cabin, located mid-ship. Since the elevators are toward the front and back of the ship, you have to walk to get to them. Make sure you know where your destination is (front or back) before you pick a direction.  Read entire member review.

Hated the toilet and shower setup/location; I have been married 20 years and I had to ask my spouse to leave the room every time I had to go to the bathroom. Our room was shaking/vibrating 5 out of 7 days; very, very annoying when you're trying to sleep. We were told the noise was the engine "revving" up, and we were given an option of moving to another room to sleep every night, which we gladly took! There were a total of 37 people in our group, everyone that had 3 or more people in the room complained that the rooms were too small and there was no privacy for the bathroom. The toilet flushing noise was too loud, you cannot use bathroom in the middle of the night for fear of waking everyone up! The toilets and showers in the fitness center had more privacy!  Read entire member review.

EPIC disappointment by Cabin11320
# 11320: Tiny cabin facing toward the rear. The balcony was actually adequately sized, but the furniture consisted of two cheap chairs and the tiniest table imaginable. No sunbed. In this cabin there is a door on the wall towards the bigger cabin next to it. This door can be detected on the deck plan if you know it beforehand. I didn't find out until I got there. The consequence of this door is the loss of valuable cabinet space. Also, the location of the bed in the middle of the room isn't good. After having had numerous malfunctions of the safe, I came to the conclusion that this cabin was cursed. My advice: choose a different cabin or a different cruiseline altogether.  Read entire member review.

A Mixed Review by Epic Cruiser
Location on ship was fine - - mid-ship and high deck. Room itself is small for more than 1 person. Not enough space to put your things. Comfortable bed. Good TV though not much to watch due to limited channels. Bathroom setup is bizarre and we didn't like it. There is no bathroom as such. You walk into the room and the shower is on your right and the toilet on your left, both behind frosted sliding glass doors. There is a relative lack of privacy as compared to a traditional bathroom. The sink is in the room beside the closet.  Read entire member review.

Large balcony due to the "bump out". Room is a little tight. Sofa is worthless except as a place for a third person to sleep. Bathroom, sink, and frosted doors were not a problem for us. Plenty of storage. Nice lighting. Comfortable bed. Shower was nice.  Read entire member review.
12177
12177 MidShip Balcony BA. Plenty of storage space. When one is out on balcony and the other is in the bathroom or shower w/ the curtain closed, the door to balcony closed and the door to shower or bathroom closed there is plenty of privacy. Room is comfy for 2, but not for a family. Maybe one child would work if they slept on the couch. i wouldn't go more than that. 3 total plugs, so bring an adaptor w/ extra plugs if you need it. TV has the inputs disabled so don't think you'll get to watch your own movies on the room tv. Bring a pico projector or an iPad and you're fine. Balcony has 2 chairs and a small table for drinks or 1 plate. It's so worth it to have a balcony on this ship and have that space to relax by yourself or with your partner or family member or traveling partner. Shower is easy to use and includes shampoo and body soap stuff from a container built into the shower. Safe can be programmed as soon as you get into your room, and fits jewelry, money, maybe an ipad or two. Our steward was trustworthy, didn't touch our cash when we forgot to lock our safe. You'll have a touchscreen phone next to the bed and reading lights as well as several other lights throughout the cabin. There's a slot near the door that needs a key card to work, but any card will do, even an old hotel key card. I'm certain that if you upgrade to a balcony room you'll enjoy it as much as we did.  Read entire member review.

Room 12177 on the Epic is 216 sq ft including balcony. The balcony is small, with room for 2 charis and a tiny table, provided. The shower is it's own little pod as is the toilet. The sink/medicine cabinet area is in the room. There's a couch and the entire room is curved. The 2 twin beds can be pushed together to make a larger one. Perfect for 2 people who want a balcony upgrade but probably a bit much once you try to get 3 or more in there. We loved breakfast on the balcony. There's a flat screen tv with little choice in channels, plenty of space, a mini bar with for sale stuff in it and storage for clothing, luggage and anything else you may need to stuff away somewhere. We brought too many clothes and had plenty of room. there's a safe for your valuables and a steward. There's a coffee pot we didn't use and an ice bucket with glasses for you. We really didn't use the couch except as a catch all for clothes and stuff we'd buy in port. Very nice upgrade from an inside, but not necessary if you won't be there much.  Read entire member review.

Last Time on NCL by aramcokid
Our room was small but nice. Soundproofing is good and we rarely were disturbed by neighbors. Beds are very small and even at 5"7" my toes hung off the end. Loved the balcony where I spent much time reading. Staff service was excellent both in our room at at restaurants. The sink in the room is a joke. It is virtually impossible to use without getting water on the counter and on yourself. It's noteworthy that every comedy show we went to on the ship made reference to the pathetic little sinks.  Read entire member review.
13099
Cabin 13099 - Deck 13 Balcony Cabin The Epic's new 'curvy cabin' design concept is visually very appealling. The dark wooden cabinets are sleek. The overall ambience is airy and light. However, logistically in some areas it is hard to navigate 2-way traffic; the bottle necks were at the end of the bed, at one side of the bed (near toilet) and when the closet doors were open, it blocked the entrance to the Balcony. The toilet/shower and sink are housed seperately. The toilet and shower are enclosed by curvy opaque glass and yes, you can see the outlines of the user! There is a curtain for privacy, this does not dull any sound-effects. The basin being outside of any bathroom facility actually was fine. On the plus-side, it was a nice comfortable cabin, the noise from neighbours was minimal and the soundproofing good. The location was not real close to the lifts, but not too far either. Facilities in the cabin included shower gel and soap in the shower. There is also a line for drying wet clothes. The shower head was detachable and could be lowered - good for shorter people and kids. There was always plenty of hot water. A safe is provided inside the wall cupboard. A coffee maker is provided. Lighting is excellent.  Read entire member review.

The stateroom was much smaller than expected. We were really tight. They put in "2 cribs" in our room, only one fit (really a pack and play). The sofa can turn into a bed and you could ask for a bed rail, which worked out for our 2 year old. The balcony was really not a huge concern since the handle is purposely is made that the handle is moved up instead of down to prevent toddlers from opening it themselves. Additionally, there is a lock lever on the top which prevents any accidents. The toilet and the shower were separate. I think I liked this, or not sure if I did not care either way. The sink is in the stateroom in front of bed. Don't wash your mouth and then dress without shoes, you'll have wet socks.  Read entire member review.

My cabin was on the 13th floor # 13203. For me it was perfect location, as one floor up I had the SPA & the Gym. Two floors up on the 15th, we had the slides, SPICE H20, game room, pools. The cabin is a normal size cabin. Very quiet The bathroom I liked that the toilet was separate from the shower, and the sink outside is a great idea, simply that it was small and sometimes water splattered. I had a balcony which I loved just to sit outside and relax. Closet space was fine. I was able to put two carry on's inside of it. There were 3 drawers plus a full length closet as well. The only problem I see is if you take large suitcases then you will simply have to put it underneath the bed.  Read entire member review.

Epic Voyage by TaterGuy
We had a balcony cabin midship on deck 8. The cabin design with curved walls and surfaces is visually stunning. The comfortable furnishings take up most of the space so traversing the cabin from doorway to balcony is a "one-lane" road in that someone has to step out of the way to get through some of the "choke points." Comments/concerns that have been expressed by others on previous posts about the bathroom/shower arrangements are valid. The toilet and shower are across from each other and each is a compartment enclosed by a translucent sliding door. There's little sound and visual separation between these areas and the main cabin. There's little to none powered ventilation in the toilet area and this can be a problem if you get my drift. The washbasin is in the main cabin area and this is convenient. Lighting is good with both task-specific and general illumination. I especially like the individual reading lamps flanking the bed. Storage space in the cabin is truly over-whelming. So over-whelming in fact that it wasn't until day 3 that we discovered the last of the hidden compartments. It's safe to assume that every surface is a door or drawer to pull open. I found it curious that there was a symbol to indicate where the lifejackets were and no helpful symbols to point the occupants to otherwise "secret" storage places of which there were many. In their defense I think they recognized this problem by having a "cheat-sheet" in the cabin that pointed out some, but not all, of the not so obvious locations that can be used for storage. I won't provide a "spoiler" for the next voyager so that the hunt for spaces remains one of the adventures of sailing the Epic. The balcony was comfortable and worth the extra $$.  Read entire member review.

Very important for all who book a balcony cabin on the NCL Epic. Good thing I did my research on you tube prior to our cruise. I was originally in a balcony cabin on the 8th floor mid-ship. When I watched the video it showed how many cabins on deck 8 would have an obstructed view from the lifeboats on deck 7. Unlike most cruise ships where the lifeboats are tucked under a bit, these lifeboats protrude completely off the side of the ship. NCL does not consider it an obstructed view because you can look out to the horizon, but it is very much in your field of vision if you look down. I moved up to deck 12 and still found this annoying. I would have been very angry had I kept my original cabin on deck 8.  Read entire member review.

NCL's Epic is compromised SIGNIFICANTLY by poorly designed staterooms. With each new generation of cruise ships, we have come to expect a little more space, and a little more luxury, but NCL has reversed this trend by attempting to squeeze the maximum number of staterooms into the available space, and the result is a significant backward step in comfort and lifestyle. Instead of a dedicated bathroom in the stateroom, the toilet, shower and sink are essentially situated in the room with you. This is constant challenge throughout the cruise, particularly at night when operations must be conducted in total darkness if you wish to avoid waking your partner. The frosted glass doors of the shower and toilet offer little privacy, although we didn't experience the reported "splashing" problems from our sink basin.  Read entire member review.

Good size cabin but poor layout, with shower, toilet and sink all being the European style and separate from one another. Nice cabin, but needs more space, as the end of the bed and the beginning of the closets are very close together. If one is on the couch, the other person can't go on the balcony without having the other person move their legs out of the way. The balcony was wonderful and I enjoyed many pleasant hours reading out there.  Read entire member review.
