too noisy from the Lido  Read entire member review.

The big plus for HAL is most of the outside and veranda cabins have full baths not just showers.  Read entire member review.

Aft facing balcony cabin. Huge balcony. Very nice. No complaints. Quiet.

This is a great room with large wrap around veranda. 10 people could stand at railing. There are stairs outside the cabin door going to lido deck bar and hot tubs. These aft cabins with verandas offer many hours of sunshine because of the 180 deg of view and minimal overhang above.

Our room was one of only a few that must have been added when the ship was "refurbished" in 2009. From the very small veranda, you could see the openings that had been welded over and where the hole had been cut for the new doors to the balcony. Rust was showing on many areas on the balcony and exterior of the ship in general. The furnishings in the room were OK, but very dated. There was a water-feature/fountain that sat unplugged throughout our cruise - I don't think I would have wanted that thing on anyway. There was lots of room for storage with three large wardrobes across from the bathroom. None of them fit too well and the doors didn't always close completely. The beds were an upgrade at this stateroom level and were VERY comfortable and you were provided with three pillows each with varying firmness. The linens were very nice and comfortable as well and we slept like a baby. We had purposely chosen a deck on the starboard side of the ship to get good views of the coastlines and they were indeed phenomenal. The room was kept immaculate by our awesome steward. The room was made up as two twin beds and he promptly converted it to a double bed upon our request. He was very friendly and always got us new towels prior to bed. We had breakfast in our room on two mornings and the room service was impeccable.

Get What You Pay For? by larryfellman

Too much of the total space devoted to couch area which is unused if you don't eat in the room which we almost never do.

Room was fine, standard fare except for the dirty windows

The stateroom was clean, slightly larger than the newer ships but the flat screen TV was like 10 years old. Complimentary ice is “upon request” and passengers are not allowed to get their own ice from the machines. Sound isolation in the cabin was better than in the Niew Amsterdam. The fridge was an antique which did not cooled; was simply a storage for the sodas. The veranda is much larger than the one in the newer ships.

Nice cabin. roomy enough to walk comfortably in front of the bed. Had a bath tub/jacuzzi - which was relaxing. Full size couch and table & chair - with stool for makeup mirror area.
Balcony large enough for a chez lounge , 2 chairs and a table - with walking around space and a swing out door - not sliding.
Toilets were very noisy tho - could hear others flushing in the night.

Quiet, adequate if not overwhelming closet and drawer space, very comfortable bed. Chair and pull-out sofa in sitting area not particularly luxurious but comfortable enough. The balcony is large enough for two to comfortably relax for a glass of wine or even a casual meal. Partitions between cabins are not completely sealed, but plenty of visual barrier if you're less than fully dressed. The bathroom is practical and large enough, but bath enclosure is not much more than a shower enclosure, not big enough for a real soak, despite the jacuzzi jets.  Read entire member review.

Location very susceptible to ship movement; fully obstructed view off the promenade deck; smallish but well designed with fair amount of storage space. Missed having a mini-fridge.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 319/Oceanview - located next to an exit door. When there are high winds, you can hear the door slamming as people go in an out. On the walking deck - has one-way privacy tinted glass, however from the outside I could see into people's rooms when the interior light was on. With a queen bed set up, there is about one foot of walk space on either side of the bed from the wall. There is a mini sofa, but its tiny if you want to stretch out on it with you feet up. Love the curtain that creates privacy between the cabin living area from the door, should you happen to have your room door open while you're in it for some reason. Bathroom, nice size and set up, except there is only one electrical outlet and its up towards the ceiling. So if you have something to plug in (shaver, toothbrush, etc.) you need a long cord or plug it in at the vanity. Also, when you turn out the bathroom light, the power to the outlet is cut off.  Read entire member review.

Lanai. Cabin is larger than standard cabins on other cruise lines. Plenty of room under the bed for luggage. This particular cabin is across from the guest laundry -- but we NEVER heard it (and we're light sleepers). View was excellent. Room has 'dedicated' deck chairs, which everyone respected. We were close to dead center of the ship (a couple of rooms away from the Atrium. We didn't have any noise problem, though might have if we were right at the atrium. We would definitely consider this again.  Read entire member review.

Large cabin. Window to promenade not a problem but unless you are a very early riser avoid this cabin and any within about 10 cabins. You will not get any rest and will be up very early every day. See our review for more informatîon.

Room has two portholes - limited view. It is in the front of the ship (end of hall) and quiet. Adequate storage. Shower only (wished for a bath tub).  Read entire member review.

Quiet but not a good layout for a cabin with an ocean view. Impossible to sit (or even stand) and look out of the window. Bathroom tiles grungy. Lack of space for suitcases.  Read entire member review.

Cabin is large, lots of storage space and drawers, quiet location as under and over other cabins rather than near public areas. Mid-ship and well located to get anywhere on ship quickly. Bathroom counter top is large and more storage area under the counter as well as small shelves beside the mirror for toiletries. Large suitcases fit under the bed. TV in good location to watch from bed or sofa. We frequently choose this type of cabin and type of location as ideal for us.

Cabin was very nice. Room stewards, Frans and Amellia, did an excellent job. Had problem with no water in the bathroom when we first arrived. Took several hours to get a plumber to turn on the water, fix the leaking toilet, and then fix the leak again before we have water in our cabin bathroom.

A relaxing time . by gardenbug22

We were in room 738, an outside room with a window on the 4th deck.It was a room for 3, it was quiet and good sized in comparison to others I have stayed in. There was a lot of closet space. as well as lots of draws for the 3 of us. It was close enough to the elevators, but not too close. The only negative was occasionally in the afternoon our room would smell like cooked cabbage... but the smell dissipated fairly quickly. I loved having a bath tub !

Dedk A is the best on these HAL ships. Navigation has noise from above, Verandah noise from below, Lanai noise from early morning deck washing and constant traffic, Main noise from above again. A deck risks noise from equipment on deck 3 (which had bothered us in 789 previously), but 799 is quiet: far enough from the stairs not to get vacuuming noise, and nothing else noisy around.

Great cabin, with excellent views from the Veranda patio. Cabin has a whirlpool bath tub, and as with all HAL ships the bathroom is large and comfortable.
We have some maintenance items that required the ships crews attention; broke patio door dampener and non working electrical outlets in bathroom.
We always bring Lysol wipes to give the cabin that EXTRA satiation, ie; door handles, bathroom counters, toilet paper holders, shower knobs, etc.
The cabin is very quiet except when the wind is right and the piano music in the lounge two decks above wanders into our cabin. The music is calming and ends at 11:30PM.
It is interesting that HAL moors their ships in alternating positions to the docks. One port will have the starboard side moored nearest to the dock, and this makes the view of the city work, the next port will have the port side moored at the dock, and the starboard side will be looking out over the waterway or bay that you just cruised thru.

Disappointed!!! by ldannyela

We got inside the ship to our cabin and when I tried to put the TV off, the first surprise, it was so DIRTY, seriously it has "colonies of something living in each button" so I used the head clear plastic cap from the shower to cover it, so we could touch it until the end of the cruise.

The cabin was not bad, just the light in the ceiling above the bed had like a grilled part covering the lamp that also was very DIRTY completely black and cover with dust from at least 5 years. It was supposed to be gold, it looks like one day it has been, however now it is just disgusting. After the first night, we saw lots of brown small particles covering the TV desk right under the AC exit, so everyday I cleaned it in the morning, and every morning it was there, again.

On the other hand, it has one of the best bathroom from all cruises I ever saw. Big, with a tub, very nice shower, really great.

I booked a Lanai Category cabin and found it to be well-appointed with plenty of room for a solo cruiser or a couple. I tend to travel fairly light and after unpacking there were still two unused closet areas. The bathroom shower took a little time to get the temperature right. Elemis spa products are available in the bathroom. The view from the Lanai glass doors was very pleasant and there are deck chairs reserved for Lanai occupants though, at times, other passengers tended to use these, not realizing that they were reserved--the sign on the chairs is quite small.  Read entire member review.

We enjoyed our Verandah Suite. Our cabin stewards were mostly attentive and conscientious. When something was missed I think it was generally due to overwork imposed on our stewards.  Read entire member review.

Outside cabin spacious, but drawers have no handles and one must bend down all the way to the floor to open to bottom ones. Very uncomfortable. Balcony cabin on top deck at the back very noisy because of the Tables and chairs, starts at 6am.  Read entire member review.

If you stay in Cabin 111 be prepared to sweat since the air conditioning may not be working properly. When we boarded it was very warm but after many calls to the Front Office it was adjusted. Also they gave us a fan which was used during the week especially when you have to use a hair dryer.  Read entire member review.

We were on 6th floor, port side with a window view. It was ok, we had a tub; however it was noisy up above us and the air conditioner started spitting out black grit. We had none of these problems on the Noordam. We had problems with NCL prior to that on Hawaii Circle cruise - the cabin had not been cleaned properly and there was leggo and dust and other articles under the bed when we went to put our luggage away.  Read entire member review.

Worst Cruise Ever! by neverhollandamericaagain
Worker's suitcases and personal items in our cabin on arrival. Asked to move the stuff ourselves as they were busy checking people in.  Not sure if our bed was changed but no one came when we asked for it to be changed.  The bathroom sure wasn't clean. Got tired of being woken up by staff washing the deck with a hose at 6 am. Not their fault. Getting hoses out makes a lot of noise and pressure washing a deck does also. I don't think it needed washing every day.   Read entire member review.

The room was approx. 510 square feet. It was roomy and comfortable. The balcony was large enough to accommodate a table with 4 chairs and 2 loungers. We enjoyed having the separate dressing area and bathroom and there was a ton of storage space (15 drawers, 4 closets and about 6 other shelves behind doors in various places). The Neptune Lounge and benefits were a nice perk as well.
