We normally book inside cabins. For this cruise, they had a promotion that upgraded us up to an oceanview cabin. Inside cabins are 140 square feet. Oceanview and most of the balcony rooms have 160 square feet of cabin space. The extra footage gave us 3 extra drawers which we did not use. There is plenty of storage with drawers and hangars as well as shelves. There was a small fridge which we had emptied to keep our sodas and beers. The bathroom had a very comfortably sized shower with a glass door. But, we felt the rest of the bathroom was more confining than those found in the inside cabins.

We prefer the inside cabins as we like to sleep in which is easier to do in total darkness. The curtains over the window did not totally cover the window and sunlight came in. While it was interesting to have the window for views of the water, we would book an inside for our next trip.

They have upgraded the TV’s in the cabin to be flat screens that are interactive. You could check on your account, order shore excursions, and other functions.

Outside of the cabin was a convenient Stateroom Service Wheel that could use to show “Make Up Room”, “Turn Down Room”, and “Do Not Disturb”.

Great location. Mid-ship, not close enough to elevators or stairs to make much disruption. Only a few inside cabins across the hallway. Picture window was great. Plenty of storage space. No public spaces above us, so no noise disruptions.  Read entire member review.

Smaller than on some other lines, but very efficiently laid out. Nice, large window. Plenty of drawer/closet space. Bathroom is nice because it has separate doors for the toilet and shower areas, with the vanity/sink in between. Cabin is perfectly situated between forward and midship elevators.  Read entire member review.

What a GEM! by katto

Loved our room. Spacious, central and great picture window. Lots of light without the loss of space. Great shower, fantastic water pressure. Lots of storage. Comfortable bed.

For the size, our cabin had a great layout and efficient use of space.  Read entire member review.

My cabin was small, but completely quiet. I was located under the Magenta dining room and heard absolutely nothing from there, nor from either of my neighbors. Did not hear the staff picking up our luggage the last night. Did not hear anything from the hallway. However, no in-cabin coffee maker and refrigerator was tiny and full of mini-bar stuff to purchase.  Read entire member review.

Room was small, but very nice. Closet and storage areas were ample. Bathroom was small, but the seperate sections made it feel bigger than it was.  Read entire member review.

Not much space to stowe two suitcases. Perfect for two people, third person would probably be too tight. Perfect location to avoid hearing stern engines, anchor being lowered and bow thrusters.  Read entire member review.

Great bathroom but small, fairly quiet, good view, small window, tiny cabin, okay amenities, clean.

Cabin a bit small but expected. Steward was below standard but that is in consideration of a Carnival standard where you see the person several times a day, always says hello and keeps your room sparkling clean. Also throws in those towel animals each night. Norwegian Gem did not do that.  Read entire member review.

great trip by bobbilo
We were on deck 5, 5088. The cabin was fine, on the small side compared to HAL and Carnival, not as small as Princess (which needs to provide a shoe horn with the room key). Third in the room has a berth but it was remarkably comfortable and I almost hated getting up in the morning. We were mid ship by the elevators, by request as my mother is 91 and can't walk far. There was NEVER a problem with noise in the hallway or from the elevator traffic. A GREAT location for getting on and off the ship at shore excursions. Drawer space was fine for three people and the suitcases fit into the closet. Bathroom space was more than adequate with a full-size shower (unlike Carnival). Only drawback was no chair with a back in the room. Would definitely pick this room again; the location and price are both just right.  Read entire member review.
