11002
We were booked in 11002, a starboard AF mini-suite, pretty much identical to the AF that we had on the Gem a year earlier. We were very pleased with the location and accommodations - spacious, plenty of storage drawers, roomy closet with lots of hangers, spacious balcony, coffeemaker, a safe that was eye-level, a desk with two chairs (the hair dryer was stored in one of the desk drawers), a roomy sofa that could be made into another bed if needed, a small (old-style CRT) tv, a small coffee table, a curtain that could be drawn to separate the tv/sofa area from the beds, a bathroom with a full tub, and a mini-fridge that was stocked but still had enough room for the bottles of soda that we had carried on. We were originally intending to have the steward empty the fridge but we decided that it really wasn't necessary. We picked 11002 because it was the last AF on the starboard side and it was under the spa, which (to me) meant the likeliness of noise would be close to zero (this proved to be true). We also thought that 11002 would have only one neighbor, which also reduced the chance of noise. However, we didn't know that there were several cabins forward of our cabin that were used for crew members. In fact, Darin Wyman (our Cruise Director) was right next door! As it turned out, noise was never a factor at all. Since 11002 was all the way forward, it did lead to lots of walking when we wanted to do anything at the stern of the ship (mainly dining in Tsar's Palace or the Great Outdoors, or going to the Galleria Shops). However, for our purposes, it was still a convenient location since it was below the Spinnaker Lounge and above the Stardust Theater and Jewel Club Casino (all places that we frequented). The two beds had been prepared as a single bed. We asked the steward to separate the beds and it was done later in the afternoon. We also requested extra towels to be supplied throughout the cruise - no problem there either. Two bathrobes were hanging in the closet and two beach towels were laid out on the bed. The bathroom was partitioned into three sections. On one side was the toilet, separated from the rest of the bathroom by a sliding door. In the middle was the sink area with several small shelves on the wall, probably adequate for most people's toiletries. A liquid soap dispenser is mounted on the wall. There is also a shelf under the sink with a built-in trash bin. Also mounted on the side wall is a Kleenex dispenser. On the left side of the bathroom is the tub. The tub is very deep, so getting in and out of the tub may not be as easy as at home. There's a clothesline above the tub and the tub has a 3-part sliding door, not a curtain. The tub's water controls might be a little tricky to some: instead of a cold water knob and a hot water knob, there is just a single water knob (on the left) for water pressure. The temperature of the water is controlled by a knob on the right, with the temperature indicated in degrees Celsius.  Read entire member review.

All was great, except for a slight sewage smell in the bath room that came and went throughout the wk.

Overall the cabin was in good condition. Noise from above the cabin during daylights hour such as chairs being scraped across the deck above made it noisy during the daylight hours and going into and out of ports. A vent was dislodged under the desk during the entire voyage and one of the desk chairs was missing a foot/tip to glide across the carpeting.  Read entire member review.

Great Cruise by aubrey.tycer@gmail.com

Very nice. Very comfortable bed. No outlet for my CPAP close to the headboard. Santiago our steward had the proper extenison cord for me in about 5 minutes. He checked to make certain is worked. Bathroom had a nice tub and was spotless. Loads of high pressure hot water in the shower. A second area could be created by pulling a drape. A desk was provided and a sofa. Very very nice.

Large closet, door opens too close to bed. Unavoidable because of having a bathroom with tub. Could hear running, and clip of heels above...from Garden Cafe.  Read entire member review.

We enjoyed our mini-suite. It's not that much bigger than a balcony room, but it's enough to make a difference. More storage space and more "walk around" room.  Read entire member review.

We were in cabin 11122 located starboard side aft by the stairway to the buffet. Great location to run up and grab a cup of coffee or a snack without bothering for room service. We did occasionally hear a bit of noise from the buffet. Not enough to offset the great location. I feel the "Mini Suite" is well worth the few extra bucks for the room. Some folks feel the room doesn't matter because you are never in it. I believe, in my humble opinion, if it's nice enough you would spend more time in it. I'm not a Bingo person and love sitting on my balcony with a "cup o' joe" watching the ocean go by from time to time.  Read entire member review.

Labelled a mini-suite but the emphasis is on the mini and not the suite. Very tiny, barely enough room to move around the bed area. If the pull out couch is ever pulled out, I think one would lose all floor space available. This room was under the buffet restaurant seating area so not a lot of foot noise.  Read entire member review.

Noise warning: we had cabin 11132, which is located in the starboard aft section of the ship. At times there was considerable noise from the area above us (buffet tables). While this didn't bother us, I would strongly recommend against this cabin or cabins in the same general area if you're sensitive to noise. On last year's Gem cruise, we heard virtually no noises in cabin 11120, which is located a few cabins forward, so perhaps it's just the last few starboard cabins to be wary of.  Read entire member review.

Mini Suite 11502. Great location. Quiet. Right by the bridge viewing room. Needs a TV upgrade. Wireless doesn't work to good but if you bring a cable and hard wire your laptop it works better. 2 decks below Spinnaker lounge so its is easy to get soda or drinks.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 11520, and 11522 had the beginning of the gym above them, so early in the morning, sometimes at 6AM, you could hear a person running on the treadmill. Pound, pound, pound...  Read entire member review.

We had a mini-suit in the forward to mid section of the ship (11526). Our room location was fabulous for the areas we probably visited the most - pool area, buffet for breakfast/lunch, stardust theater for shows, exercise room and spinnaker lounge. The room size was nice for a family of four and we loved having the deck for outside viewing. The interesting part was that there were no outlets in the bathroom for hairdryers (only low voltage razors), which I thought was odd and a bit inconvenient. With that said, there were a desk area that you could use for make-up and hair. My only complaint about that was poor lighting for that purpose in that area. Definitely bring a power strip with you. Storage space was overall adequate - we found a place for all our stuff and we had a lot (4 large suitcases and 4 carry ons - I don't know how to pack lightly and the Alaska weather created extra packing challenges for me).

Great location, about halfway between forward and mid elevators. Quiet, no noise from above or below. Great balcony, nice bathtub and hand held shower. Lots of closet and drawer space.  Read entire member review.
11604
Our stateroom 11604 was midship just below the main pool area and main Garden Cafe where the buffet was. Being on the port side I think we were underneath the kitchen as we rarely heard any feet running down the halls above us. It was really quiet. And handy to the buffet. Made it easy for the kids to zip up for ice cream and juice on their own (6 and 9 year old boys). The mini suite is nice, lots of room and enough storage for the 4 of us with no problems. My trick is to use an over the door shoe organizer to keep all of my extra stuff in and make it easy to clean up the room so the stewards would have an easier time with turn down and make up. Next time I'll bring something to make the cabin door easy to recognize, my 6 yr old kept missing it. Back to space, I stored the suitcases under the bed and just threw dirty laundry onto the floor of the closet to keep it out of the way. A handy thing I saw others do was to holepunch their key card and put it on a lanyard around their neck, that was handy.  Read entire member review.

We had the perfect location - 11th deck aft near elevator - very quick walk up one flight to buffet. Balcony was nice but not private - you could look into your neighbor's rooms from rail area (in our case was nice since we had 3 rooms in a row) - We had a luxury bathroom with tub and toilet in it's own area - lots of storage and a curtain to divide bedroom from living area. It was nice not having to take the elevator to go to pool and buffet.  Read entire member review.

Loved the location. Very convenient to buffet and other areas at back of boat. Quiet, even though the Italian restaurant is above, we never heard anything.  Read entire member review.
