Deluxe Verandah Suite (S)

Cabin Rating
002 is wonderful except for the noise from other people who were not on this deck. There is so much room in the suite. We couldn't even fill up the drawer space. Lots of closet space. Problem with very low water pressure in the shower, though. There was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke outside our suite. I think it was coming from the bridge. We have been in 002 on another ship and never had the problems we did with noise. It was not a function of the suite or the location, but a lack of attention by ship personnel. Great balcony! Bed was extremely comfortable. I was a little disappointed by the worn look of the bedspread, but everything else was fine.  Read entire member review.
Maasdam Deluxe Veranda suites are fantastic. We had Suite 008 and even though the ship was going into dry dock the day we disembarked the cabin was for the most part in excellent condition. We liked the port side suite because the bed in this arrangement is to the left when you enter. That means you sleep with your head aft, feet forward and we've found this to be the most comfortable sleeping situation particularly in heavy seas. The veranda for this cabin and, in fact, all HAL deluxe veranda suites is wonderful. One of the largest in the industry and certainly one of the most usable. The separate dresser area with a place for my wife to lay out her cosmetics is a great bonus and a big plus for this category. The three closets provide a lot of hanging space, certainly more than enough for the two of us and potentially enough for another adult or a family of four. The bathroom lacks a separate shower but we've not found separate showers on most ships to be all that usable so it's not an issue for us. For us the deluxe veranda suite is well worth the additional expense and we'll continue to book them.  Read entire member review.
Our deluxe verandah suite lived up to its name. Spacious, lots of windows, ample closet and drawer space, huge balcony, nice bar area. The living room area had a long couch and cozy easychair. Bed was not Westin, but still quite comfortable. We were on port side, and on this particular cruise (Montreal to Boston) we faced away from the port when docked. Our room was a few doors away from the Neptune Lounge; a good location. Some of the plumbing, as well as the bathtub, did not look refurbished. My nieces had room 220 on Deck 9, completely aft on the port side. Just outside their room was the exit to the deck, with the housekeeping station across the hall from their room. They didn't complain about noise, but I probably would have. The room seemed small, perhaps bec. the large balcony took up much of the space included in the square footage. For two young women, there didn't seem to be enough storage and they partially lived out of their suitcases.  Read entire member review.

Very nice suite! The bed is the best I've ever slept on.

Cabin 016
Wonderful cabin, great bed, large seating area. There are 3 closets, tons of drawers, and a separate vanity. The balcony had 2 lounges and a table with 4 chairs. It was large enough to double the furniture and still have plenty of room. The bathroom was basic and the tub was very old and showed its age. It was the only complaint about the room.

Very Nice Time on Maadam by Lovecruisestoo

Neptune Suite 27 ... huge verandah, large room. Close to concierge. Closets were ample (and I bring a lot of clothes). Special sitting area to put on makeup with drawers for makeup, jewelry, hair dryer. When you pay more, you get more.

Marvelous by purplenorway
Deluxe Verandah Suite 041 has a nice layout and lots of closet space. The verandah is huge! It is very private except for the Lido overhang to the right. However, I never saw anyone sitting there anyway.  Read entire member review.

Plenty of storage as this ship has a lot of longer sailings offered.

Could use a few more outlets to charge phones and other electronics but since it is 20 years old, those things weren't thought of when the ship was designed.

Lots of room in the living area with the large sofa and table with two chairs. The veranda was really over sized and was used often.

Binoculars, umbrella, hair dryer and about fifteen pillows and blankets in the room. Illuminated make up mirror but no double sink vanity. Same suite on later ships have double sink vanity as well as separate shower and tub. This had only a tub with shower in it, but that was fine.

Lovely experience on the Maasdam by zephyrhillscruiser
Several days before our cruise we were given the opportunity to upgrade from a verandah cabin to a deluxe verandah suite, which we took and boy!, was it worth it. Cabin was HUGE. Balcony was HUGE. Every single aspect of it was absolutely wonderful, including the use of the Neptune Lounge and it's accompanying conceirge. Bed was fabulous. Decor lovely. Very clean. Very quiet. On most of the newer ships there is little difference between a verandah cabin and a suite - usually the cabin is just a couple of feet wider, but on the older Maasdam, the suite is really large - feels more like an apartment.  Read entire member review.
