Our balcony room (4133) was immediately available and our suitcases arrived shortly afterwards. The Verandah suite is a good size for two people, but can get a little crowded when you add four other people. Our room was in a good location to get to the main dining room. We booked our cruise and reserved a Verandah balcony room (4133) for us and two nearby Oceanview rooms for the 'kids' (4115 & 4117).  Read entire member review.
Cabin 5013. Verandah Cabin. Good bed, adequate to good storage. Quite far forward in the ship, so short walks to the Crows Nest but longer walks to the aft dining areas. Some have said forward cabins are windier. Cannot offer a judgement, but it was quite windy at times when ship was underway. However, often spent some enjoyable time in evening on balcony without the experience being ruined by wind. Bathroom is about what one would expect. Room stewards were typically efficient.  Read entire member review.
Wonderful Westerdam by Histrionix
Great location, wonderful use of space, plenty of room, HUGE balcony but can get stuffy because it's completely enclosed. Privacy can't be beat.  Read entire member review.
We had cabin 7048 on deck 7 which is a deluxe verandah suite and had plenty of room. There were 2 of us occupying it and the cabin holds at least 5 or 6. We found the closets to be spacious. Cabin 7048 is near the Neptune Lounge where we went for breakfast bites or even breakfast. There is food there, h'dourves, whenever the Lounge is open.  Read entire member review.
We were in a deluxe verandah suite, cabin 7050. The space was generous and had a king size bed and a sofa bed included in the cabin. Included both a seperate shower/tub and shower stall with a dual vanity sinks. Absolutely a comfortable suite.  Read entire member review.
Suite in good location - middle of ship on starboard side with a nice balcony and plenty of closet space. Just down the hall is the Neptune Lounge so room has great proximity to "goodies" throughout the day and continental breakfast in the mornings.  Read entire member review.
7054 could hear noise from the Neptune lounge.  Read entire member review.
Suite 7059 - very comfortable suite, good location. The stewards kept the cabin very clean and well stocked.  Read entire member review.
Best Cruise Ever by Toffees Dad
SA Suite 7060. Great suite right bt the Neptune Concierge Lounge, very convenient. Had a DVD player and we ordered several films. The Balcony was huge as was the room. More closet space than we had clothes! Also laundry and dry cleaning included, a real plus. HAL were smart to offer us the upgrade at a bargain rate, now we are spoiled! We will always try for a Deluxe Veranda suite again (if we can afford it!) By the way, the Concierge lounge is another real plus, they solve any problem  Read entire member review.
Excellent location - near midship elevators & directly across from Neptune Lounge.  Read entire member review.

Looved every inch of it. So many closets we could not use them all. The same goes for drawers. Bed was heavenly...and enough pillows for a scout-camp. Veranda was roomy, the chairs, , and chairs and tavle were used (even though it was an Alaskan cruise we had exceptionally warm weather). Found It difficult to get hot water in the used the shower in the bath tub... and that worked just fine. Very quiet cabin. Close to theNepotune Longe and had elevators close by.

Cabin: We splurged for a Deluxe Verandah suite on the Roderdam deck (7th floor) and across the hall from the Neptune Lounge. The cabin was clean and available to us as soon as we boarded the boat at 12noon. The suite was very large (5-700ft) with seating for 6 adults inside and outside. The other benefits of the deluxe suite included the dual sink, bathtub & shower, separate dressing area for my wife, daily flowers and fruit, FREE laundry and dry cleaning and daily breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill. Neptune Lounge- the lounge was across the hall from our room and was available from 7am-8pm daily. The concierge's Margaret and Jane were very helpful with everything from dinner reservations, excursions and hand carrying our wine to the main dining room. Initially, we were very concerned that the other suite guests would be snooty, but we were pleasantly surprised.  Read entire member review.
We had Suite 7070 on the Rotterdam Deck and anything good that you have heard of HAL cabins could be said of ours. It was large, clean, well decorated, with a large balcony and a separate shower and spa tub. The bottle of cold champagne that the HAL website promised would be waiting all Deluxe Suite passengers was no where in sight and failed to appear. But we did get a bottle of water. Our cabin stewards were all that is pleasant and agreeable, and 7070 remained a delightful place to sleep and rest. (Warning: the cabin next to us flanked the glass elevators that run up the side of the ship - they had no privacy on their balcony and also had the lights from the elevator shining on their balcony at night.)  Read entire member review.
Wonderful! I love the deluxe suites and the amenities they provide. The laundry and dry cleaning service is terrific. We also like the fact that we can order dinner from the dining room menu through room service. You know, there are times when you just don't want to get out of your shorts to go to the dining room. This is a very nice service to offer. The bathroom is a great size for two people and the closet space is more than sufficient.  Read entire member review.
Quiet, well-laid out, good location near elevators and Neptune Lounge. Large balcony, lots of storage. No complaints whatsoever.  Read entire member review.
I would rate this cruise a 5 plus if we did not have such a serious medical problem not taken seriously, and then my wife becoming very ill because of the lack of educating the staff!!!  Read entire member review.
We were in cabin SA7077. We just loved it and I have only great things to say about it!! The deck is very large with 2 large lounge chairs, a table with 4 chairs and we still had a lot of room!! This cabin was in the perfect location!! I hope to have this exact cabin again one day!! Very quiet, great view with wonderful cabin stewards!!!! I feel we could not have had a better cabin on this ship!!!!!!!  Read entire member review.
Our cabin 7081 Category SA was delightful and the Neptune Lounge was as usual exquisite.  Read entire member review.

No complaints about a SS Suite!  Read entire member review.
The cabin was spacious with plenty of closet space. The verandah was well furnished with tables and chairs w/ottomans. It was nice to have dinner on the verandah. If desired, the contents of the minibar can be moved to a large shelf above the desktop. It must be noted that there are electrical outlets only on the left side of the bed and not the right side.  Read entire member review.
We were in a spacious SA Deluxe Veranda Suite. The cabin was spacious and well laid out. Plenty of closets and drawer space. Luggage fit easily under the beds. The sofa was very comfortable and large. The bed was very comfortable with excellent pillows. The TV was way too small for the size of the cabin. The bathroom was dated and in need of an updating. The counter was chipped and worn. The tub was not necessary and the space could have been devoted to a larger shower. Plenty of storage in the bathroom. My wife found the dressing area to be very useful. The balcony was large with a table and four chairs and 2 chairs with footrests. The suite amenities including the Neptune Lounge were a big plus. I would pick this cabin again in a heartbeat.  Read entire member review.
We liked our cabin very much. We were at the end where the next cabin's balcony jetted out so we could see their balcony and they could see ours. It wasn't a big problem but would have been better not to have had that intrusion. Other than that it was a good location. We liked being on the same floor as the Neptune Lounge.  Read entire member review.
First Time with HAL by Evil Dad 17
Well worth the extra cost, very large!  Read entire member review.
We requested a deluxe veranda cabin on the 7th level and due aft, cabin # 7149. The cabin was clean and well equipped. It had a flat screen TV, Mini bar, desk, chair, hair dryer (hidden in the desk), permanent small table in front of a small couch, safe, and two very spacious wardrobes. The bath was typically small with one outlet for the shaver (my wife's heat wand for her hair would only fin the outlet at the desk), medicine cabinet, 2 glasses a small counter and a counter beneath the sink. It was served with a tub with a diverter for a shower. The veranda was large enough for a small table, two wicker chairs and one chaise lounge. The room's decor was very dated and the room, along with the rest of the ship needs updating. This in no way affects the comfort of any of the facilities.  Read entire member review.
Westerdam: 8036 Our stateroom had the largest balcony that we had ever seen on a ship. The room was well appointed with lots of closet space. I liked the closed door on the bathroom medicine cabinet. I also enjoyed a soothing bath or two. Our room stewards were exceptional.  Read entire member review.

SHIP INFO/CABIN/SERVICE:Our cabin was a Deluxe Verandah Suite #8147 located in the 8th floor the Navigation deck. Over all it was a GREAT cabin. It was very spacious. It had plenty of storage. it has a king size bed which was important to us! I like to sleep in comfort!! pillows and sheets were clean and comfy. there is a couch and two chairs as well as a center table and i think there is two ottomans as well. The couch is not comfortable but we really didn't use it that much. we ate there late at night and I sat there to look at the explorer to plan our day. Outside the balcony is huge! its a wrap around balcony that fits a round table 4 chairs an 2 lounge chairs. we used the table and chairs several times. we never used the lunge chairs. most of the time we would just stand on the balcony and admire the GORGEOUS view. downfall is that the room is right below the lido deck so it can get kinda noisy. and sometimes people from the top can see down into your balcony. But I guess it is the same for all!! Really not a problem for us. It is Alaska and it rains alot and its cold-so we did not spend TOO much time out there as I would have preferred. then again, we are from Texas and had left 110F that Friday- and our winters are in the 40/50s so that was cold for us!! it was really nice to have a space to get ready- the mirrors were excellent for me to use while doing my hair and make up, getting ready for bed, etc. there is closet space in that same area as well so that was pretty much my area to get ready for whatever we were going to do. I really liked that. we really didn't watch much TV. to me, TV was small and outdated- but I really didn't care much. this room is at on end of the ship so- you WILL walk! I underestimated that when I wore my heels! there is an elevator close by though but most of the time we opted for the stairs. I would probably not make the expense for such a big balcony for ALASKA however, the amenities of getting a Deluxe Verandah Suite were nice! We had access to the Neptune Lunge which is located on the Deck 7. We went there everyday for cafe lattes and "snacks". the amenity i think i liked the most was- free laundry and dry clean. so we did not being any dirty clothes back home for once!! they did loose one of my blouse- however, they did reimburse me for it. It was settled at the end with our bill. they were so apologetic and nice about the whole thing that i was OK with the resolution. The concierge took care of everything- i just presented verbally the description of the blouse and the brand. I also had a picture with it- she asked me how much i payed for it and that's what they reimbursed me- no questions asked!! although i do believe she must have researched it up on line or something because she did ask if it was last years or this years purchase- i presume to browse through the designers collection- any way, it was no big deal. the internet- i did not use!! we were determined not to work at all during our time off!! we used our own cel phones when we got to the ports (we have nation wide coverage for minutes and internet) to touch base with our families but that was about it. they do have internet access at a price though. SUMMARY: Awesome time! No regrets, and were doing it again for sure!! hope my review help you out some- just remember to have a great time!! Oh- almost forgot, i did put of the wrist bands, took the motion sickness pills (Dramamine and bonine) as well as take ginger supplements and i used the patch!!!! i took it all- i did not want to be sick- and i wasn't!!! except for one morning that mostly everybody felt it. i felt a little queezy but it didn't stop me from anything. I recommend that you take it all and then decide what to use- whatever is best for you. I used the patch and the pills as well. they said that keeping hydrated and green apples also help- so I did that as well. My husband took nothing and he was fine the whole time. good luck:-)  Read entire member review.

Alaksa Westerdam by california bob
Though the Westerdam is a smaller vessel than the Princess line we've hailed in the past, our room was not much smaller. My wife was delighted that rather than a mere shower, she had a bath tub which she relished. The verandah was suitable though on an Alaskan trip, even in the summer, one could save money and forgo the windy and cold porch. As for us it's more an opportunity at a window and I spent quite a bit of time on the verandah watching the scenery. Cabins are cleaned by two man crews who are obliging and thorough. We had ample drawer and closet space, room beneath the beds and plenty of room to stretch out in our cabin.  Read entire member review.
