Our cabin was close to the elevators, which was both a pro and a con. It was conveniently located, but every time someone got on or off the elevator, it made a loud beeping sound that was initially disruptive when we were trying to sleep. By the end of the cruise, however, we had grown accustomed to it and were not bothered by it. We were close to the front desk, which was helpful while my husband was quarantined because we sat in our room and watched movies for 2 days, and the front desk is where you have to go to get the movie.  Read entire member review.

Very large room! Obstructed by the lifeboat but at least we got some natural light in there!

Could hear the elevator ding if the tv wasn't on.  Read entire member review.

Cabin was very clean, tho smaller then I expected. Partial view still allowed us to see part of the shore as we cruised by. Also was able to see the tenders being lowered and raised, which I found interesting, tho the lowering at 6am was rather early.
Bathroom was adequate, we had a tub/shower. Water was only luke-warm in the evenings, very irritating to me. Clean and always well-stocked. Our stewards were fantastic.
Enough closet space, safe was handy. Vanity lighting could have been better, but plenty of light in the bathroom. Locking drawer next to bed did not work, draperies would not stay tightly closed, used a safety pin at night to keep them shut. Towel art was great to come home to each night.

Small but comfortable stateroom with adequate closet space; shower didn't work too well (hard to regulate water temperature; shower head didn't stay up); view somewhat obstructed by lifeboat; noisy HVAC system  Read entire member review.

We really enjoyed the angled balcony of this cabin. Although not as deep as others the angle allows excellent viewing of the glaciers. We were assigned this near aft cabin and loved it.

Our cabin 4166 was great. Did not realize there were drawers under the sofa and under the end of the bed till our 5th day. Would have been nice to know this when unpacking. Bathroom was nice size, closet space for hanging clothes was adequate. Nice having the safe to use.  Read entire member review.

good size, great location with a view overlooking the wake. No roof, a potential problem on rainy days.

5001 - has to be one of the best cabins on the Westerdam. I am assuming the same for the opposite 5002. 5001 on the front of the ship has a nice size balcony but also has a good sized window that looks to the front of the ship. It is amazing how large that room feels with that additional window. Plus when you are cruising the Panama Canal or the glaciers in Alaska, they open up the front and you have access to the bow just steps from your room. The room is very quiet. No traffic except the stewards. The only problem is that it is a long walk to just about everywhere on the ship, but the same can be said of most cabins.  Read entire member review.

The cabin was pretty nice. Good comfortable bed. Small tub if you need to take one. The balcony was great. Saw whales, birds, a bear and the glacier all from our balcony. Well worth the price. The only downer was the wall paper was taped in one spot and frig was already full of stuff so had to do some arranging, but no problems everthing was clean and worked well.

Mid-ship room with private balcony. Perfect!

Would not reserve a mid-ship room on the Verandah Deck (5) because of the lifeboats at our feet.

Cabin clean and comfortable with plenty of storage veranda a little smaller that what we had had on the Ryndam but a nice place to sit out and have breakfast, this cabin in a really good position midship and close to the lifts.

Good location, pretty much mid-ship. Condition of stateroom poor. Sofa worn and faded, as was the carpet. Veranda furniture in terrible shape. Large chair cushions worn and soiled. Rattan table legs unraveling. Had to bug the steward to bring in an arm chair so wife was comfortable putting on make-up at the desk. The hassock provided just doesn't do it! We have certainly been in larger veranda staterooms but we managed to store everything with suitcases under the bed. HAL should really refurbish the cabins ASAP!

Love this cabin as it is near the stairwell/ elevator in the back part of the ship. Easy access to the Lido dining and Vista Dining room. Great view from the balcony with no obstructions.  Read entire member review.

Room 5166. Veranda Deck. Very quiet. We chose a floor where there would be cabins above and below, instead of public areas. We like interior rooms because they are dark and great for sleeping. However, the room was small. It's bathroom was slightly larger than what we had on Emerald and Crown Princess (also interior.) We were toward the Aft of the ship and it was fine. One night we did feel rocking but it caused no problem. Otherwise, we didn't feel the ship move. Location was near elevator and stairs leading directly to dining areas. Very convenient.

Alaska is absolutely stunning!! by WrittenOnYourHeart

Smaller than what I'm used to on Disney, but it was fine, particularly as I was solo. I'm not sure I'd try putting more than 2 people in the cabin. The balcony metalwork did have some rust issues, even a hole around one of the screws, and the glass was tinted, which made it challenging to see through. Still, it was generally fine.

Cabin was wonderful and spacious. We chose that location to be somewhat close to elevators and stairs but not so close as to get the noise from either. We thought it was a very quiet location and the view from the verandah was great! Cabin was on the port side which I thought was great because in both Juneau and Ketchikan we were facing the cities and in Sitka we were facing the ocean. Great views! Upper Verandah deck was great for us too. Since we had our son with us and spent quite a bit of time in the Lido area it was just a short walk up the stairs. Explorations Cafe was also a short walk for coffee every morning. All in all a great cabin!

Great Weather by pointpetre

Cabin 6111, a superior mini-suite. Good drawer and closet space, but not the best. No walk-in closet, but the closet area has a curtain that converts it into a dressing room. Floor space and balcony quite spacious. Four chairs a table and a side table on the balcony and two ottomans that can serve as fifth and sixth seats for cocktail hour and other get togethers. Bathroom is spacious with double vanity. Two medicine cabinets, a whirlpool tub with shower, and a separate glassed in shower, which is what we used daily. Best room I've had on a ship in twenty cruises. Two desk areas, good shelving, long sofa that flips into a single bed. A storage ottoman that serves as a vanity chair, plus two other chairs in the room. 24 inch flat screen TV with a DVD player and access to a large DVD library.

The balcony was great for certain days, especially Glacier Bay. We ordered room service and hung out on the balcony as the ship parked next to the glacier. The room itself was a little crowded. Bathroom had limited counter space and there were few shelves in the room. If you like more room, you may want to upgrade to mini-suite equivalent. The free in-room movies on the small tv were excellent – fairly recent movies plus good oldies – and changed every day. There was a DVD player which we never used – apparently you can borrow DVDs somewhere on the ship but we liked the in-room movies.

Pure Alaska by teraji

We had a balcony cabin at the rear of the ship. It was really nice and perfect for an Alaskan cruise. If you are going to splurge for a balcony cabin, an Alaskan cruise is the perfect time to do so. The scenery and wildlife is constant during the whole cruise. We saw whales, sea otters, eagles, mountain goats, lot of different birds including puffins and Stellar sea lions from our balcony. I mean like 50 whales! The cabin and bedding were nice and our cabin had a tub in the bathroom. The rear cabin allows you to see scenery on both sides of the ship, which is great for viewing wildlife. It also has the smoothest ride. One negative, we noticed some black particulates on the balcony. I think it comes from the ships exhaust stack. We didn’t smell the exhaust but noticed the black dust.

great mattress and bedding.  Read entire member review.

Spacious, well appointed suite. Quiet, clean, sufficient closet space for two. A separate shower (quite small) and bath, side by side. Overall, very satisfactory.

Midship, near elevators but very quiet, virtually motion free. Close to the Neptune Lounge which is finely appointed.

Our room was called a Neptune Suite. There is a long list of perks that come with the room and we made use of most of them. Breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill, using the private Neptune Suite with concierge service [not to mention snacks], and complimentary laundry service [which we put to use a lot].
The veranda was approximately 8' x 22'. Very large and had a dining table w/4 chairs, 2 comfortable lounge chairs w/ a small table. There was good visibility and the deck was clean.
The bath was exceptional in that there were two sinks and two showers of which one was also a spa tub. Very spacious. To enter the bath, you first came through a small area with extra closet space that had a make-up chair with a counter and lighted mirror.
The bed was a king size and comfortable. The couch made into a bed although we only sat on it. It was lumpy. The desk was handy for it was used many times each day. There was a small table and two chairs in the room.
I do not know how many square feet the room was but it was not less than 500 [including the veranda]. It was larger than my motorhome! A real treat to have been able to book this room.

A good room. Probably larger than we needed, but the concierge service, access to the Neptune Lounge, free laundry service and other perks made it worth it.

She liked it! by Oregonhiker
Cabin 7091 - Deluxe Veranda Really nice! Plenty of room, we only travel with carry on and there where at lots of closets. I put one shirt in each. Nice layout - really liked having the window over the desk. This is a cabin that is at the place where the ship bulges back out so the veranda of the cabin to the right has a view o your veranda, although on an Alaska cruise no one ever sat out there while the ship was underway because that angled veranda makes it exposed to the wind.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 8075 – SS Class minisuite – My favorite category of cabin of any ship, any line – I’ve never quite felt the need for the large suites, but the SS is a significant step up in size and space over the standard cabins…I consider them perfect. This cabin is on Navigation deck 8, starboard side, under the deep overhang of Lido, protected from most weather and nicely shaded (unless sailing southbound in the late afternoon!). The only note to make about this cabin for those unaware is that it is a connecting cabin with 8077 next door – not anything of great concern to me, but the door connecting through to the other cabin does take away one bank of closets, leaving you with two rather than three closet sections. Those with lots and lots of clothes, take note!

Excellent location on ship. Very convenient to Lido Dining one deck up. The overhanging 9th deck structure above provided a nice sun and wind screen that increased the utility of our balcony and was an advantage over similar cabins on lower decks. The adjacent cabin (8090) had a diagonal balcony that was partially visible from ours, compromising privacy a little, but we did not mind it. The cabin itself was nicely appointed and the extra large bathroom a real treat.  Read entire member review.

Verandah cabin (8132) was very nice, with the best a/c I have ever experienced in a ship cabin. I absolutely loved having a bathtub, as opposed to the “shower tube” featured on most ships. However, the water temperature was what it was, and we had no control of it. It was hot, but fortunately not scalding. The diverter wasn't working, either, so we had water from the showerhead only. Better that than the other way around! Yes, it was reported, and non, never fixed. This cabin was directly below the Lido deck, and while we could certainly hear any chair movement above, the area was always quite deserted when we were sleeping. It was a guarantee, not a cabin I would have selected, but it worked out very well for us. Not so much for a gentleman 2 doors down the hall, he told us, but that’s HIS cruise experience to review!

Cooled off in Alaska by phoebemamma
The cabin was very adequate.. we had gotten a last minute bargain cruise. We didn't choose it, but got ouside cabin, 1st deck and midship, very stable. Convenient to everything. The pillows were very comfy, nice little couch to snooze on. Extra blankets with no charge. Towel creatures every night. Clean. Quiet. No complaints.  Read entire member review.
4144 - nice veranda- near elevators closest to dining rooms but did not have much foot traffic. Very little ship noise and when the seas rolled the cabin rocked more like a cradle.  Read entire member review.
