Our cabin, mini-suite D422, was dead center on Deck 9 (Dolphin Deck), on the Port side. It was a great location. The main elevators were a few feet away, and everything was about the same distance up or down. This made getting to places very quick and painless. The storage inside was excellent with plenty of space for the two of us. The deck is large enough to lay the loungers completely back, but has no cover. Be ready to get a tan. And, being on the Port side of the ship meant we had full view of the ports. Ship exits were right below our room, four stories down. Deck 9 is nice and quiet, with only mini-suites, which kept congestion in the hallways to a minimum.  Read entire member review.

Most cabins had average size balconies, but ours was HUGE. Staterooms are showing their age and bathrooms in this ship are small, even by cruise ship standards. Room service is terrible. Our cabin steward, however, was excellent.

D406
We booked an AA guarantee and did not receive a room assignment until 2 weeks prior to sailing (booked and paid for the cruise 8 months in advance). We did not receive any upgrades and were assigned to D406 which is Dolphin deck 9 mid ship, port-side (AA room). We loved the mini suite as it had so much room and lots of storage. The full size bath was a huge plus for a longer cruise. The room itself was showing some wear and tear on the carpet, and the sheers needed a good washing, but these were all minor things that I could overlook in exchange for the great space and layout. The bed however was horrible! As many people have said the mattress is very hard and ours was very lumpy to the point where you could feel the springs. (I woke up each morning very early because of back pain). One of the beds actually had a permanent indentation that made you feel like you would roll right out of the bed (this required that my DH and I clutch each other in an embrace mid bed each night to prevent one of us from rolling off the bed - okay maybe a bit of a stretch but we did have lots of laughs about the beds). The pillows were totally flat with no support. We ended up with 8 pillows in our room by the 3rd day of the cruise (pillow fight!) The balcony was very roomy and had two semi-reclining chairs and two regular chairs along with a small bistro type table. All mini suites on Dolphin deck are totally open balconies which people have a love or a hate relationship with. (We have the latter). While sitting on the balcony, water would randomly drip down from the upper decks (not a cloud in the sky) and I believe it may have been from up on lido deck. While sometimes it would be just a few drops, other times it was a nice little unexpected rain shower. No big deal unless you are trying to enjoy a nice meal on your balcony (ewww!!!! where is that water coming from that just landed all over my salad), or if your showered and ready for dinner (so much for the hairstyle), or sitting on the balcony reading from your kindle (oops hope this is water proof). We did have great weather for most of our cruise but in inclement weather or when the sun was beating down, the balcony was useless. Also the glass of the balcony gets very hot in the full sun and I would be careful if you have small children as I could see where they may even get a mild burn if they leaned up against it. Speaking of open concept, yes it is nice to gaze up at the stars at night, but wait those aren't stars they are several pairs of eyes peering down at me from the balconies, above and above and to the sides of me. So if you have visions of spending a lot of time on your balcony or have plans for some privacy and quiet evenings with your spouse you might want to reconsider Dolphin deck. Honestly it wasn't THAT bad, but I would not choose a mid ship location on Dolphin deck in the future. Our room steward Leonides was wonderful. He kept our room nice and clean, always had fresh ice in our bucket, and seemed to anticipate all our needs. We are in the hospitality industry ourselves so enjoyed talking to him when he had a moment (they are responsible for 17 rooms each!)  Read entire member review.

Great location Bathroom with tub and shower is a plus. Plenty of storage and lots of room.  Read entire member review.

Mini suite D502. Surprisingly quiet given how close we were to the elevators/stairs. Ample closet/drawer space; spacious room in general. Great full bathroom. Ceiling in the shower was a little low but having a full tub/shower made up for that! Balcony was lovely. Cabin was mid-ship so we never felt any rocking from the ocean at all.  Read entire member review.

Our cabin D505 was in a great location and worth the extra money. We were only 3 cabins away from the mid ship elevators. Mini suites are the way to go and even though the cabins above can look down on your cabin, it is a great place to suntan in quite and be able to see the Pilots get off the ship. I would definitely go on the Dolphin deck again. Having the extra space and the larger bathroom are a definite plus.  Read entire member review.

We kept hearing how bad the beds were: our beds were great. We slept like babies. We had a balcony that had no covering. The only day it was a problem was the day it rained but I would do the same cabin again. We heard about the long wait for elevators; well, it was no different than on any other cruise.

Great cabin except the balcony was not covered. Passengers above you had great view of what ever you were doing. Lack of cover made the balcony useless in rainy weather. Cabin D525.  Read entire member review.

Dolphin Deck
Wonderful Cruise by birdie2

We usually get a balcony, but decided on a mini-suite on the Dolphin deck due to some good pricing on this cruise and we loved it! The room is larger, so we had plenty of room for the three of us (teenage son). He told our cabin steward to makeup the pull-down bed for him instead of the pull-out sofa, so we were able to use the sofa at night and mornings, which worked out great. The mini-suite has 2 TV's (one for the sofa area and one for the bed area), a nice size balcony with 2 reclining chairs and foot stools, and we really enjoyed the tub/shower instead of the smaller showers on some cruise ships where the curtain can sometimes stick to you while showering. Ample drawers and closet space. The safe was small (could not fit a laptop).

Mini Suite is roomy, comfortable bedding, wonderful covered balcony so no one is looking down on you, quiet as it was aft and away from all elevators or stairs.

Some noise early in the morning, but great location, close to dining rooms, theatre, exits for port days, and the Piazza. We would take this room again as we were pleased with it. Also close to the coffee bar and International Cafe(important for the coffee!)
