Great location (near elevators)- being down low meant it was very quiet- no one tromping down the hallways. Sofa bed super uncomfortable, bathroom had rusted out doorway, and chair was broken, kept coming apart as you picked it up. Porthole was cool- you could watch people walk right by when at the pier.  Read entire member review.

My mid-ship room was a perfect location for us. We were only a few doors away from the atrium elevators. It was so easy to get everywhere we wanted. We picked a room on Deck 5 because Deck 6 had something that prevented you from reaching the restaurant easily.

Ground Hog Day! by Rob Jacobs

Very comfortable and relaxing, great house keeping. Shower and toilet a bit small but this is to be expected on a boat. Cabin was a 10/10 experience

Very nice. Deck is easy to reach all areas of the ship.

As the cruise consultant said, this is the oldest ship in the Norwegian fleet. I suppose that translates to mean that you should expect problems in the cabins. Now I know why the age of the ship is so important to know when you are booking a cruise.

This cabin needed work when we arrived. The bathroom floor had two large areas of rust / mold that the cabin steward couldn't have cleaned with the usual mop.

The TV remote had problems, and needed to be replaced. It was so old, that the numbers were worn off of it. The TV's themselves always power on to channel 1 and at half volume. This must have been a shock to the people in the next room when I tried to turn on the navigation channel at 5:30 AM. After that, I tried to stand in front of the TV and reduce the volume, but you just can't reduce the volume fast enough so that it isn't an annoyance. Later in the cruise, the satellite system lost it's audio for most of a day.

Ship announcements can't be heard in the cabins, unless the TV is tuned to channel 2. Since we didn't know when they would be making an announcement, we frequently missed the English version of the message. Newer ships have a volume control in the cabin, so that you can choose what volume you want to hear announcements at.

On the plus side, after I left a note for Hotel Director Tony (telephone ext. 8888), these items were quickly resolved. Notes can be left in the box located on top of the piano in the lobby. However, there were other items that I didn't bother to report.

The hangers in the clothes closet are the hotel style that have no hook on them. The problem is that over half of them were so twisted, that you couldn't remove the hanger from the closet so you could put clothes on it.

Near the end of the cruise, the drain on the balcony backed up after a rain shower. Our balcony was flooded by a geyser about three inches in height, which left sand and dirt all over. We have no idea if their plumber ever solved the problem.

After the stop in Toulon, the engine developed a vibration. This vibration caused an intermittent room noise like a woodpecker in the forest. The location of the noise moved, from night to night, and of course changed with changes in the engine RPM. The woodpeckers weren't loud enough to wake you up, but if something else did, you had difficulty getting back to sleep.

Cabin 9608 is a poor choice, if you like to sleep at night.

Two different nights, we were startled awake by a very loud pump or motor noise. It ran for a few minutes, and then stopped.

On the way from Athens to Venice, there was some rough weather as we went westwards. This caused a loud metal clanging sound, that lasted for hours. When I went searching for the source of the noise, I could even hear it in the lobby, but the person on duty at the front desk asked 'what noise?'.

When the guests in the adjacent room open and close the dresser drawers, or the cupboard door, the noise is so unusually loud that you might think they are opening doors in your cabin. Wake up calls or conversations in other rooms could be heard as a background noise, so the cabin soundproofing isn't as good as I'd expect in any other hotel. One pleasant surprise is how well the bathrooms are sound proofed. I couldn't hear the (very loud, aircraft like) toilets in adjacent cabins.

We left two Barcelona single ride metro tickets in the bible. Enjoy.

Wonderful Trip by coappleby1

Our cabin was on Deck 10, right under the bridge, on the starboard side of the ship. We had a balcony on the front of the ship, which was a great place when entering or leaving port. We also had a balcony on the side of the ship, which was a great place to relax when sailing, as the wind wasn't a problem.

Our cabin came with a cabin steward who tok care of everything in our cabin. We also had a butler, who took care of anything on the ship we needed, and who brought us afternoon treats and kept the coffee machine full of water and coffee. And, we had a concierge who took care of details off the ship - reservations, excursions, and disembarkation.

As suite guests, we could eat breakfast and lunch in Cagney's Steak House. We would meet our condierge every morning at Cagney's to be escorted off the ship to our daily excursion, without having to wait in the theater to be called. One of the best features of having a suite, as far as we were concerned.

Our cabin had a large bathroom with a tub and shower and make-up table, as well as double sinks. Plenty of room for both of us to get ready in the morning. The bedroom had a queen bed, a door to the side balcony and a closet which was large enough for our suit cases. There was a door into the livingroom area, which had a sleeper couch, table and chairs for meals in the cabin, a large window looking out the front of the ship, and a bar with a refrigerator and coffee machine. A door lead to the front balcony.

We enjoyed our cabin and it will be difficult to go back to smaller cabins on future cruises. . .

Be warned!! Although the floor plan on NCL says that this room can sleep 3, it can't. This room adjoins to suites on either side and appears to be an additional bedroom for either of these suites. It is quite small with enough room for the king size bed and about 2 feet on two sides. The bathroom is fairly large. Also noted, with regard to 10001 and 10002, 10500 and 10502, the diagram says these rooms are adjoining and make it look like it is a door. It is not, the only way to make these cabins adjoining is to remove the wall between them.

Perfect location for restaurants, pool etc. But far enough away from public areas to be quiet.

Cabin is smaller than on most ships and drawer space is very limited. Hanging space is generous. Vanity is tiny and sofa bed is a single, not full sized. Despite the smallness, room is totally adequate and the fact that there is a coffee maker in the room in a BIG plus. At least it was for us. Bathroom space is generous by ship standards, but not a lot of shelf space for toiletries. Sliding shower door is far superior to the curtains on some ships.

Our cabin was in excellent shape. Ship is much older than it appears (1998) so it's not a mega ship. I actually loved the Spirit as the Epic's crew is overworked and does not have the time to interact with you. I heard some cabins needed repair, but we loved our room-bathroom was very large and balcony was great!

Mid sized stateroom but everything we needed. It worked well having the adjoining doors to the next door stateroom. Mid ship and high so no problems with the motion of the boat. No noise issues apart from some noisy people in the corridor late at night but this was minimal.

Good advise, since we spent little time in our cabin during the day on this excursion driven cruise. I would suggest a balcony stateroom over an inside room. I think twelve days in a closet would be too much but the choice is yours. We slept with the balcony doors open on most nights. The fresh sea air was wonderful. Travel tip...bring a bar of soap if you prefer that over soft soap. And, a small power bar would be smart to bring if you have many electronics to charge since there is only one outlet in the room.

Wonderful view each morning and some nights, from our port side balcony, It was the best part of the cruise ship.

The walls between cabins are very thin ... we could hear conversations, coughing, sneezing, noise from television from adjacent rooms ... seemed to lack the privacy of a hotel.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 4526-- a nice quiet location, and stable, even when the ship was doing a little rockin' and rollin'. With the bright sunshine, even the porthole provided enough natural light. Also close to the gangway on port days!  Read entire member review.

Loved the balcony, but our room was directly under the Kid's area/Daycare center which was open until at least 11 pm most nights. Only a handful of rooms are directly underneath this area of the ship, but the noise definitely carried through to our room (our neighbor mentioned the noise as being bothersome as well) A room on the other side of the ship would have made a difference.  Read entire member review.

Spirit broken...... by nomoresealegs
Room for 4 should have 2 bunk beds instead of 1. One of our boys slept on a mattress on the floor. Bathroom was the BEST ever on a cruise. Shower was roomy and water was always hot. Closet was adequate for hanging clothes, but needed more space for folded clothes. We had to keep our folded clothes in suitcases because there was not room for unpacked clothes unless they were hanging.  Read entire member review.

Great room. 3 doors from elevators and stairs. Bathroom was good size with doors for both the toilet and shower. We heard a lot of creaking. We heard neighbors when they were being loud. Not sure if they were next door or down the hall.  Read entire member review.

We had an oceanview room on deck 5. The view, size and comfort of the bed were fine. However, the room was EXTREMELY noisy...jackhammering going on above. We were sleep deprived when we got home. Pack light, closet space is limited.  Read entire member review.

Last minute getaway by squaredancer44
I decided a long time ago that we never spend enough time in our room to warrant getting anything more than a hammock in the hold so anything better than that is great in my book. We booked the cheapest cabin we could and were pleasantly surprised when it was upgraded to a cabin with a window. The bed was about queen size and very comfortable since we like a firm mattress. The bathroom was actually roomy for a ship's head but the little hallway between the bathroom and closet got a bit crowded at times. I was amazed at how quiet the room was. Much quieter than many motels in which I've stayed. We were on level six midship which was right under one of the common areas and promenade (walking) deck on level seven. The steward didn't keep the room as clean as one might expect but it was ok.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 10635 Inside. Port/Aft Easy access to kid's club and kid's pool. Easy access to most decks. Terrible set up for 4 with 2 singles, 1 upper and a pull out for 2nd kid which meant your access to the bathroom at night is hampered. Recommend 2 uppers and 2 lowers. 150 square feet is too cramped. Go to Holland America and experience 180 sq feet.  Read entire member review.
