Watch the world go by from the balcony of these luxurious suites. Spacious living area, dressing room and bath with separate shower and whirlpool tub. (506 sq. ft.)
Nice sized room and walk in closet. Bed was comfortable. Nice balcony. When refurbed last year, the TV set in the room was downsized - a little small now. Location convenient for Commodore lounge, Churchill Lounge, Library, Gym/Spa but quite a walk to the Queen's grill restaurant. More "bouncy" than cabins toward the rear of the ship where we've been before. Smoother towards the back but you seem to hear the engine noise / vibration more there. Read entire member review.
Room 9009(Q-6 Suite)Large suite(506 sq.ft.)several doors down from Churchill's lounge/Commodore Club. Stocked bar with free soft drinks & wine. You get choice of free "hard stuff" & liqueur. Large walk in closet(5 by 7ft)Large bathroom with large Jacuzzi tub. Tub is deep, so use caution when stepping in or out.Very large towels. Not really soft, but they dry you really well.Bedding & TV were new. Old CRT TV's being replaced with new flat screen(about time!)Very large veranda.
The room is on the opposite end of ship from Queens Grill restaurant, so expect a fairly long walk. Good for working off calories LOL! Room was spotless from steward & Butler. They really did a good job. Do recommend the "Breakfast in Bed" feature at some point. It's nearly as good as going to the restaurant for breakfast. You can order from the lunch/dinner menu & be served in your suite should you wish. The menu is delivered daily to your suite.Only real difference from a Q-5 is the Q-5' are more centrally located. Room: We had a Queen's Grill Suite (Q6). Very spacious room, nice sized closet, nice sized bathroom. The balcony was a good size (not as small as we had feared) - you could stretch out on a chaise lounge at a bit of an angle. On arrival, a chilled bottle of champagne with chocolate covered strawberries awaited us. The cabin butler greeted us, showed us the contents of the mini-fridge which included another bottle of complimentary champagne, canned soda and bottled water. She indicated that we were entitled to two bottles of wine and offered us a choice of red, white or both. This was a very pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there. The king size bed had no mattress on it. Instead it was a 2" foam pad over the box spring. When you tried to sleep at night, you felt the steel from the box spring in your back and a quite noticeable gap between the two sides of the bed. In
the cabin, we heard a ship structural snapping and cracking noise in one wall. It sounded like the ship was going to come apart. We complained about the bed and the noise. They brought us 2 more duvets to put under the fitted sheet which helped but not enough. They told us the noise was normal and in all the rooms. We later learned that the cabins were constructed in modules with lots of plastic. When the ship twists / bends with the motion of the waves, the plastic in the walls creaks and snaps. The TV in the room was a modern flat panel. They played some great, newer movies around the clock at no charge. Room service was great. The butler and her assistant were friendly and attentive. We forgot to think about what side of the ship we should request a cabin. On these transatlantic voyages, one side of the ship is facing south the whole time. That is the side you want. So, go for port on Westbound and starboard on Eastbound. Read entire member review.
