Our stateroom was on the A deck port side and aft. As others have noted, the shower was exceptionally small (on the other hand, when the sea was rough, you didn't have to worry about falling over!). But our balcony was well-appreciated and much used. The steward service was excellent. We were completely satisfied with our experience in our state room. One small note -- perhaps because we were towards the stern and under the big top engines of the ship, there was an annoying and constant vibration in the bed. My brain in half sleep frequently translated the meaning of the vibrations as heart palpitations and I often woke up feeling jittery and anxious -- needless to say, I didn't sleep all that well. But given the beauty of the environment, it was something I was happy to overlook. We had a mini suite with balcony; B214. One big bed and a twin up (out of the ceiling) and a twin down. It was cramped when the bed was down, but all in all, was fine. Balcony was nice but we had smokers on either side and a CIGAR smoker below. Fortunately our mini-suite balcony was covered by the mini-suite balcony above us, which is not true of most mini-suite balconies on the Island Princess. Besides privacy from above, our balcony was also shaded from the intense midday sun, important on this Panama Canal cruise itinerary. Our mini-suite was on port side which provided morning sun and afternoon shade as we cruised south to Panama and then the reverse as we cruised north. Closet space was more than adequate as was drawer space. Our sitting room was very spacious easily accommodating a triple sofa and easy chair as well as a table. We had a mini-suite on the Cari-be Deck, room 212. It was located towards the front of the ship. Loved the location! There was hardly ever anyone down our hallway and it was so quiet. There was tons of storage for a 10 day cruise in the room. It had a tub which I enjoyed!! It has 2 flat screen TVs in it. There were outlets at the desk and extra ones that were accessible behind the TVs. We were in minisuit C721.  It was located on the starboard side, aft.  We loved this location!  It had a great balcony, and was 3 doors down from the public aft viewing area that not many people knew about.  When we were in Glacier Bay, and College Fjords, we were out on the aft balcony while turned to the port side for viewing, and when they turned the ship for starboard viewing, we were able to quickly return to our balcony. 
  The cabin itself we clean.  It had some staining on the carpet, and the grout in the tub/shower was in need of a good bleaching.  The bathroom vanity area was a nice size.  It was large enough for my husband to shave and for me to apply my make up at the same time.  BUT...it was not large enough for my daughter and myself to apply make up at the same time.  My daughter took over the desk area and turned it into her vanity area.  Which worked well.  The hair dryer provided was located next to the desk area.  In my opinion, it didn't get hot enough nor did it have enough power.  Though it may have just been the one in our cabin.  I felt that the hairdryers in the lodges were much better.
  I have seen many negative comments reguarding the mattresses.  yes, they are deffinately in need of being replaced.  There is a very obvious valley/dip to the center of them from constant use.  Though I did not find the need to have it replaced, nor even the need for an egg crate.  I slept well.  This is coming from a person that sleeps on a Temperpedic mattress at home so I know what a quality mattress feels like.
  The actual space in the room was tight with 4 people though it was doable.  It became clutttered very easily with 2 teenagers in it.  Since it wasn't like we spent large quantities of time in there it worked for us.  If we were confined to that space, it would have been a different story.
  Closet space was addequate.  Though we used every square inch of the space provided.  A little more would have been nice.  I know this probably isn't possible, but it would have been nice to have another private area for changing.  If you had one in the bathroom, then the only changing area available was the small open area in the closet.  A door or curtain would have been nice so the other people in the room wouldn't walk in on you.

C726 Suitable for 2 adults and 2 teenagers with extra beds (sofa bed and pullman over sofa). Nice balcony. Starboard side sailing North - seemed like captain and naturalist focused on Port side. Our mini suite was spacious and functional. The closet had ample space and there were multiple shelves and drawers around as well. The water pressure in the shower was amazing and there was a bathtub which we never used. I slept on the pull out sofa a few nights to be closer to the balcony slider to listen to the sea; it was functional but not really comfortable.  Read entire member review.

I am glad we elected to upgrade to the mini-suite, which was about the size of a standard Disney cabin with veranda. The dor is generic but easy on the eyes. Not much color and no real artwork or decorations/style. (I wont count the faded French poster for the Cote dOr, on which dOr had faded away, leaving just pink and blue.) The cabin had plenty of room for our belongings and us. There was a substantial shelved cabinet beside the doorless, bed-length closet. Suitcases stored easily under the bed. A sofa bed, small chair, and desk chair provided plenty of seating, with a rigid glass-topped coffee table and desk with drawers providing work/eat space. The desk, on one wall, was opposite a cabinet with two TVs (one facing the bed, the other towards the sofa), shelf space and a shorty fridge. The bathroom, separated from the bed area by the closet, included a tub/shower combination. The temperature and water pressure were the best we have ever experienced on a cruise. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, bath gel and lotion where provided. Bring anything else you need, including shower caps. A small built-in hair dryer was on the wall between the suites sofa and desk. Our veranda had four comfortable chairs and a table. While not as large as some it was plenty big. The verandas on the 10th and 11th decks above us were stepped back (were those passengers in smaller cabins?). If you are uncomfortable with people looking down at you, you might want to get a cabin on deck 10 or 11. On the other hand, Island Princess has no inside cabins on Deck 9, so passageways are half as crowded.  Read entire member review.

The balcony was also a little larger than a normal balcony and offered us a good place to relax and spend time looking out over the ocean.
