Great rear-facing location; easy access to outside walk-around deck. No problems with noise, smells, or vibration (but some iffy smells in the hallway farther forward around cabin 398). Thermostat didn't seem to function; sometimes uncomfortably warm (in Alaska!).

Even though across the hall from the crew's cleaning closet it was very quiet. A large closet space, not far from the elevators. Just a small amount of movement in the one stormy night.  Read entire member review.

Statendam - 546 - Across from laundry room, which is convenient. But our cruise had gastrointestinal/norovirus problem that caused Holland America to close the laundry rooms for several days. The first day it was back open, there was a line of people sitting in the hallway all day & night and it was noisy. They stayed late into the night talking. The following day, the ship posted a sign that the laundry would only be open from 7am - 10pm and locked the door outside that time. Inconvenient for some people trying to get laundry done, but really cut down on noise, so Thank You whoever made this decision! Otherwise, room was what we expected. Good closet space. Hard to get in & out of shower/bath - high step. Nice to have window, but missed balcony we had last time. Also missed having a refrigerator. Would have liked much stronger AC blower through Canal / Guatemala - it was HOT for me. Also, since ship going into dry dock immediately following our cruise, there were a number of small things with the room that hadn't been fixed/replaced in a while and looked yucky -- cracked ring in sink, electrical issues, odor under bed that seeped into our luggage, brass edging on table glued down poorly and sharp - companion cut himself. Nothing that caused us to say "Never Again", but added up.  Read entire member review.

Stately Statendam by LindyLuu
Perfect location. Right next to the embarkation and debarkation without being noisy at all.  Read entire member review.

We were in 641. This was an outside room but very spacious. We loved the location. It was very quiet and close to the elevator that took us up to the Lido area of the ship.  Read entire member review.

Super Statendam by nigeloz
Our cabin was great, and even had a bathtub in the bathroom, And the bathroom was a bit bigger than previous cruises. We had an ocean view cabin. We didn't see the point in having a balcony as the weather was going to be cold, but we actually had quite pleasant weather and didn't need the hat, gloves and scarfs we brought. we had a good un obstructed view.  Read entire member review.

Squeaky Cabin by gtwncruiser
Cabin 789 is the "squeak cabin" - do not go if you are assigned this one. Size and closets and bath are adequate but won't be able to sleep due to squeak.  Read entire member review.

We thought the stateroom was well maintained and that it met our requirements. The space was a little tight with a crib in it, but it fit. The cabin steward was excellent and always kept the cabin clean. Refrigerators can be requested for $2 per day, which we thought was reasonable.

Nice sized outside cabin. Plenty of storage space and there was a full tub in the bathroom! Only complaint was the location of the TV. It would work wekk if the bed is made up as a queen, but as two singles? Not so much.  Read entire member review.

First cruise by mas360
We had an Oceanview room for two. It was a nice and clean room. Housekeeping staff was excellent. I highly commend the housekeeping staff for their dedication and impressive work ethics. A tip was automatically billed to our expense account at $11.40 per passenger per day. This was to be divided among all crew members. At the end of the cruise, I personally tipped the two persons who kept our room clean everyday. They had been with Holland America for ten years and I found out their first three years they had to work 12 months straight without break. After the first three years they worked 11 months and had one month to go home to see their family. That made me feel very guilty. Despite of this work contract, they cheerfully did their job with a positive attitude.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 418 Aft Category D. UPSIDE - Loved the view of the wake. The cabin is a bit larger than the standard cabin so a little extra room is a plus. The entry way is much wider. DOWNSIDE - morning, afternoon and evening people are sitting outside the window smoking and blocking the view.  Read entire member review.
