Suite 12030 great, quiet location easy access to everything - near pool. Suite is large with a rather small, irregular shaped Balcony. The closet is exceptionally small for a suite this size. Read entire member review.
Stateroom data - Suite 12030 Similiar to the NCL STAR there are 24 suites forward of the ships library - 12 on each side. The first stateroom either side of the library is just like the one on the Star - floor to ceiling windows and NO Balcony followed by -5- suites with a smaller balcony than I had on the Star - which was great these were not so invasive of the interior space and instead of a coffee table to eat room service meals a standard size table with 4 chairs was in place. Another neat feature was the cordless cell type phone provided for the cabin to take anywhere on the ship. Forward of the 1 suite with no balcony and the 5 with are 6 more balconyless suites. At the forward end of Deck 12 are the 4 Deluxe Owner suites with no balcony and floor to ceiling windows. A note about the suites with balconies - unlike the one I had on the Star with a cover over the deck these on the Dawn are open with no awing thus are exposed to the weather and other elements. A privacy element is in play because from Deck 13 above people can view down into your balcony. While at tender port at Belize the rain was so monsoonish that it fell on my balcony deck and seeped past the calking to flood the carpet interior. Maintenance came with a wet/dry vacuum and did a number followed with two giant snail like blower fans to dry it all out. Other than that the stateroom has all the features that the Star did - double sinks separate shower and bath closet space in foyer to the bathroom - but I like the more liveable space provided on the Dawn. The price difference varied around $2000 more for the Balcony. For others reading this review realize that for that amount of savings one could go up one Deck (13) and get all the fresh airing and viewing. One last critic - do you recall the running jogging track on the Star running thru the tunnel on Deck 13 ? On the Dawn this track is moved further aft near the Star Bar and Cagney's. But the die hard runners still use the old track running right over the first five suites causing a thump a thump a thump of feet pounding on the ceiling at some of the most inconvenient times of sleeping. NCL tried to inhibit this by moving some deck lounging chairs in a pattern to discourage this but then even moving the furniture on the deck caused unpleasant noise - nature of the beast - no satisfactory solution.
Cabin 12522 is a family suite. The balcony is amazing, and it is not covered, which was a plus since we didn't have to fight for a lounge chair on the deck. Yes, people can lean over an look down onto the balcony, but we never really saw anyone doing that. The main issue we had was at 1 am every morning, the crew must power wash the chairs above us and then drag them and stack them. I am not sure why NCL hasn't stopped this routine due to complaints, but clearly they still do it.
The coffee machine is nice, once you figure out how to use it. The murphy bed and pull out sofa were comfy. The shower has a rain shower head which was very nice and the Elemis shampoo etc was nice. Bathroom is large, plenty of closet space. There is a divider that encloses the King bed, but not enough privacy with a family of four. Read entire member review.
My wife and I booked the family suite with balcony on the Dawn for a Western Caribbean Cruise. The room was excellent. It is a little over 400sq feet plus an ample balcony with two lounge chairs. The room is in the refurbished section of the ship. Therefore, the bathroom was completely redone with double sink, full shower with rain and hand held jets and a full tube. Very nice bathroom.
The living area is spacious for two people. We liked the open plan of the room. It can be divided, but since there were only two of us traveling, we left the room open at all times. A nice dining area and living room seating for four round out the room. Large screen T.V and Keurig style coffee system were also nice additions to the room.
