Big Bang For The Bucks by SouthLyonCruiser
We had balcony cabin #0001 on deck 10. It was the furthest forward cabin we could find that had the features that we wanted - highest deck with cabins above and below. The cabin was very quiet and being all of the way forward we didn't have to have our time out on the balcony ruined by a smoker upwind. The only down side was that the shower was the smallest in my experience.  Read entire member review.

0001 - first cabin outside of the staff cabins/bridge area on deck 10. Very quiet room with quick access to stairs and elevators.  Read entire member review.

Size of the cabins on the Sun are great. Lots of storage space. Room 0002 is on the 10th floor, 2 doors down from the Staff Cabins. Location is excellent - stairs and elevators just down the hall. No noise issues.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 0002 deck 10 port side forward; great location; small room with tiny balcony, but quiet and in a less traveled area.  Read entire member review.

Very quiet part of the ship. Being close to the front meant more movement during force 9, 8 and 7 gales. King sized, comfortable bed. Large sofa, plenty of storage and great balcony. Balcony door whistled when strong winds blew from port side. Bathroom compact but functioned well.  Read entire member review.

Where to start!! by Donaldc134
Was OK other than needing a complete refit. The room as the rest of the ship is getting old and it appears that not much updating has been done,as the little holes in the black out curtains showed!  Read entire member review.

We were in cabin 0015, which was below the fitness room but it wasn't a big deal. Great location for access to the ship, had 8 elevators and stairway very close. Plenty of storage space, TV could have been bigger, but didn't spend much time watching it. Bed was really nice, wider than expected and comfy. Balcony was a good size and we spent a lot of time out there.  Read entire member review.

Great view. Great Balcony. The cabin cleaning crew just did the basic cleaning. Nothing over and beyond. First time we never tipped over the designated tip.  Read entire member review.

Great location. Not affected by the very rough waters. Great balcony--port side and always in the sun. Needs upgraded TV. Bathroom needs to get rid of hose hair dryer and have regular hair dryer to take out to the large mirror in the room. Also, on the plus side, the circular shower curtain is more comfortable that a shower door.  Read entire member review.

Terrific shower notwithstanding the curtain. Too far from the elevators for anyone of limited mobility. But great service from our stewards.  Read entire member review.

Loving Freestyle by RNretired
Cabin 0031 was just the right size for two adults. Balcony great but one lounger would be appreciated. Bathroom is OK but sometimes an "outhouse" smell was evident. Lots of drawer and closet space and lots of hangers. Bed was very comfortable and able to adjust the temperature was a plus. Need to update the TV. Coffee pot and fridge was much appreciated. A magnified makeup mirror would be great at the vanity.  Read entire member review.

Wonderful balcony, very comfortable beds, lots of storage, very small but user-friendly bathroom, a little tight between the bathroom and the bed.  Read entire member review.

The ship shows its age, however, the cabin was one of the best I had in the cruises I have been on. Very large and clean. The sofa would need to be changed, but didn't bother us. We were on the 10th floor towards the AFT. A bit far from the elevators ( which I think they should have more ). We were very satisfy with our cabin. The Balcony was one of the biggest we had, and lots of closet space.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 0049, 0050 and 0051- Balcony Deck 10 Aft, BC. Balcony and view are awesome and the fact they whole cabin is larger is a nice plus. We saw inside and couldn't do it. To watch the sun rise and fall and sail aways on your balacony can;t be missed or underestimated.  Read entire member review.

We had originally booked an inside cabin, but the price kept dropping and dropping and we ended up getting a balcony room for an extra $100. The room had tons of storage, and the balcony window let in lots of sunshine (at 4 am when the sun rose!) Downsides are the shower curtain that attacked you when you took a shower. You had to leave the bathroom door open to ventilate the room (no fan), so every time someone moved past the door or a breeze from the balcony blew, the curtain clung to you. Annoying, but not life ending. The TV in the room was TINY and straight from 1990, but the programming was good. Location wise, it was great. You definitely want to be aft on this ship, as that's where EVERYTHING is. We were woken up a few times at 3-4am by them moving furniture around above us, but that was it. The convenience of being so close to food and entertainment outweighed the noise. I think the ideal location would have been exactly where we were, but on the 9th floor instead.  Read entire member review.

Bathroom leaks, bathroom doors show enough damage from water that this has been a problem for some time. Otherwise excellent cabin, quiet and convenient to aft staircase.  Read entire member review.

Only one closet, small room, old TV (not flat), great balcony (except it seemed a bit dirty with rust), noise from the deck above (chairs and tables moving around), every morning at 6:30, the side thrusters would shake and rattle our room, very noisy.  Read entire member review.

Small bathroom, comfortable two twin beds with a large sofa-bed, good size balcony, small fridge, safe, coffee maker, and an ice bucket.  Read entire member review.
0208
Loved having a balcony. Makes the trip special. Quiet. Our door stuck - hard to open and close. One night we woke to it being unlatched because we didn't slam it hard enough when we shut it. The convertible sofa bed was not secure - so if we sat on it and leaned back the seat started sliding out from under us. Closet and drawer space is quite adequate. Bathroom and shower is common to most ships we have been on - to be expected and adequate.  Read entire member review.

Lots of storage place, nice view from balcony. Location is perfect for getting to pool, guest services, Four Seasons, and buffet very quickly. Very close to elevator and stairs.  Read entire member review.

Cabin 0211. Balcony on Starboard side. Location suited us very well, its a few steps from the stairs which take you up to Fitness Suite and pool deck, and across from there is the buffet. also close to the Atrium lifts and on a quiet corridor. Plenty spacious for the 3 of us with tons of storage. Tip: bring a 4 way adaptor, power thingy and some clothes peg to pin your clothes onto chairs on balcony to help things dry off. Another great tip I learnt from a cruise forum is to bring Wrinkle Decrease for your evening shirts - fab product!  Read entire member review.

We had the perfect cabin. We had ample space, even with a Pack-N-Play set up in our room. The closet was big. We had storage for all of our clothes and gear and didn't have things sitting everywhere! We were mid-ship and close the the elevators. It was awesome!  Read entire member review.

This cabin was quite nice. I think the cabin below on 9th deck would have been quieter but this was still a nice cabin.  Read entire member review.
0224
We could occasionally hear chairs being moved about on the pool deck above us but it was never loud enough to bother us. Our room was close the the glass elevators in the Atrium and they were hardly ever full and getting one was always easy. For eating, however, it was a good walk aft to get one of the elevators down to the main dining rooms (the middle main dining room you could reach easily from the glass elevators, but we usually ate at the aft main dining room).  Read entire member review.

Great Cruise by RNretired
Cabin 0245, Enrico was pleasant and accommodating. Lots of closet space and hangers. Wonderful view from the balcony and a quiet location. The coffee pot made a big difference and should be in every state room on every line. Bed linens were comfortable and we slept well. There should be a second nightstand which we missed and a slight larger table in front of the sofa. The balcony chairs were good but one that would lie back like a lounge chair would also be a real plus. TV was good with a great variety of movies and TV shows. A weather channel would have been nice. Adequate room, clean and well appointed. Very satisfied with this cabin.  Read entire member review.

Norwegian Sun by ShadowOak
Great room--very convenient to everything. Plenty of storage. Right by elevators and stairs; up one flight to buffet and pool; down the elevator right to dining room and theatre. Good side of the ship to be on for view from balcony (balcony was very private and quiet and normal size for a ships balcony).  Read entire member review.

9024 between two stairways and under other cabins. Safe at eye level at end of closet, easy to reach. plenty of closet space and shelves. Haven't seen a 15 inch CRT TV in years. Balcony just enough to sit on, slow close door so it doesn't slam.  Read entire member review.

We loved our room. The balcony was wonderful. The service to clean the cabin and the washroom was excellent. I think they came three times a day. We loved the towel animals. We were located close to the elevator and stairs which made traveling the ship very convenient.

Cabin 9033 was fine, balcony was large with two chairs and a small table. Heaps of storage space, more than we needed. Large bed plus a lounge - great cabin.  Read entire member review.

Our cabin was very comfortable. We had a lot of storage space--we couldn't even fill it all up! There were plenty of hangers and drawer space for our clothes. The only thing that was a tad small was the shower stall, but since we've vacationed in Europe, we can cope with a small shower! The bed was very comfortable and we had no trouble falling asleep. We enjoyed having the balcony, which was furnished with 2 chairs and a small table. The location was great--not too far from an elevator, but not close enough to hear people getting on or off. Just two cabins away from us was a family with small children, but we never heard them while we were in our cabin. We actually never heard any of our neighbors, which is more than you can say for some hotels!

Our cabin was great, good location, good size and we were able to work with 4 women in the room. A little tight when the beds were all out but plenty of room otherwise. Poor TV options I will say.  Read entire member review.

We loved our cabin, it was extremely quiet and a great location. There was more than enough storage for the both of us. The shower was tiny, but at least we had good water pressure. We loved our balcony, we spent plenty of time out there enjoying the beautiful scenery. The bed was comfortable with very nice pillows.

Magical Norwegian Sun to Alaska by AlaskaAdventurers

We were concerned when we arrived, that 9064 would be noisy because the cabin was right off the hallway to the aft elevators and stairway but it wasn't at all. The cabin was in an excellent location for us. It was on the port side, very well laid out and perfect for viewing the glaciers and inland passage sights from our balcony. Nice afternoon sun shining into the room, too.

We stayed in Mid-Balcony 9049. The room was quite comfortable and we loved our balcony. Plenty of storage and closet space. The woodwork was lovely on the shelves and drawers. There was a safe that was easy to use. We never heard anything from the other rooms or smelled any smoke from any balcony. The bathroom shower was quite small but the water pressure was excellent. The small sofa was a bit hard but overall not bad. The Sun is showing it's age with some things a little worn out. Curtains had a few holes in them, mirror was aging in the bathroom on the edges etc. The bed and pillows were excellent. We were extremely comfortable in them. So overall, we were pleased but the room could use a shiny update.

Beautiful Baltics on the Sun We are a couple who always chooses the itinerary first, and the ship second. We have sailed NCL on several occasions in the past, and have always been pleased with the value offered. NCL did not let us down with their Baltic Sun sailing. Embarkation Embarkation was very organized. We arrived at the port directly from an overnight flight from NY. We took a taxi to the port and waited for them to open at 10:30 a.m. We were on board by 11:30 a.m. We went directly to the MDR that was open for lunch, the Seven Seas, and had a nice quiet lunch. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather on most days of this cruise. We sent up to the sun deck, and took a little nap until 2:00 p.m. and our rooms were available. Public Rooms and Cabins We did not notice any wear and tear in any of the public rooms or our cabin. What I did notice is that the overall decor needs updating to bring some modern energy to the ship. We were in an inside cabin IA, on deck 9. The cabin was larger than any inside cabin and even some balcony cabins we have been in. Plenty of storage space. Deck 9 is the perfect deck if you want a quiet floor, nothing but cabins above and below you. The ship is laid out a little "weird" but it just something you need to get used to. Fitness & Recreation The ship had a nice sized workout room with modern equipment. The Sun also has the Promenade Deck which goes completely around the ship. If you circle the ship 3 1/3 times you have walked a mile. I loved doing that each day. Enrichment I enjoyed both the German Folk Dance show and the Russian Folk show that was offered on the ship. There was also a Russian language class and a Viking history class offered. Dining We ate at both MDRs. We found them almost identical. The food was tasty and plentiful. Every night you are presented with a new menu. The left side has new options and the right side has everyday options. With choices such as salmon, rib eye steak, roast chicken offered every night, you can't go wrong. The presentation of the food can be improved. Also, if you are looking for gourmet fine dining, then the NCL Sun is not for you. We never had trouble getting a table, and most tables had fabulous views through large picture windows. We did notice that 8:30 was a busy time in the MDRs. We ate at two specialty restaurants, and didn't think they were worth the extra fee. We enjoyed the MDRs just as well. For lunch there are several options. I am not a fan of buffet dining because I am a teacher and it always reminds me of a school cafeteria. The Great Outdoors is a wonderful option for those who want a buffet for lunch or breakfast and want to enjoy the out doors. We enjoyed Moderno for lunch. They have a quick sandwich, pizza or pasta option here, and that is what we enjoy for lunch. Most days, weather permitting, the ship had a NCL BBQ for lunch or sail away also. Breakfast can be eaten in the Seven Seas, which we enjoyed for a nice relaxing start to the day including French toast, my favorite, or hubby's favorite, Eggs Benedict. But with this itinerary, a visit to the buffet is in order. The breakfast buffet is like every cruise breakfast buffet I have seen. I did notice something called breakfast pizza in Moderno, but didn't try it. On the mornings we had to wake up extra early, we had room service deliver a continental breakfast including a full pot of coffee to the room. It was always delivered exactly on time. If you enjoy an afternoon snack, there is always coffee and cake, or ice cream available at the Great Outdoors. Entertainment We thought the entertainment was very good. When you cruise, you expect a certain type of show, and all of the three shows we saw were very enjoyable. We also enjoyed the live music acts placed throughout the ship. The musicians on the Sun are all exceptional and very talented. Service All of the service providers were helpful and friendly. Our room steward worked very hard to keep our room clean. We always had fresh towels, and turn down service. The waiters and waitresses always served with a smile. The running joke on the ship is the hostess in the Garden Cafe who sprays your hands with sanitizer. Washy Washy girl. Everybody loved her. Shore Excursions We used both NCL shore excursions with private tour companies. For St Pete, you need to research a private tour operator. Don't be afraid of what you read about Visas. The operators that are mentioned here on Cruise Critic will obtain a special Visa for you. You can see so much more, for less money by using a private tour. The NCL excursions that we did use, were well run and worth the money for those particular excursions if you did not want to DIY. Value for Money This is the number one reason we chose the NCL Sun for our Baltic cruise. If you research other cruise lines and compare, you will notice the large price difference. With the money saved, we spent it on the excursions and special meals in the ports. Don't forget the beautiful souvenirs in Russia. Overall The NCL Sun is a very nice ship and is perfect for the Baltic itinerary.  Read entire member review.

Appreciated mid-ship location during rocky seas. Balcony was great! Seemed convenient to everything and incredibly soundproof. Did have an occasional dripping noise (but we don't think it was actually a drip) coming from one area of the ceiling that we learned to ignore but was a little annoying at first (only noticed when going to sleep).  Read entire member review.

Our cabin was more than adequate. Sufficient storage. Bathrooms older style on this ship and could use an update. Balcony was good and it was a quiet location convenient to both fore and aft of ship. Balcony room 9255. We needed another bathrobe, and the remote did not work when we arrived. I left a note for the steward and it was taken care of right away. There is plenty of storage, both closets and in the bathroom. I am not a fan of the glass doors, I prefer the sliding doors. The last night the wind whistled all night through the doors because of the high winds.  Read entire member review.

Our balcony was toward the rear (aft) of the ship & had a "stopped drain" somewhere behind us (starboard side)....had up to 1" of water on balcony 75% of the ENTIRE cruise! Room steward was heroic.....trying to "squegee" off water 3-4-5 times a day, to no avail. Couldn't/didn't use most of the time...really was unacceptable.  Read entire member review.

Our cabin and staff were the best part of the cruise, new robes are a good fit. We always like deck 10 in a BA balcony find it is very quiet. Cabin 8235. Mid ship balcony is perfect for getting to either end of the ship quickly. I have slight motion problem and this location let me take much less medicine. We had storage to spare. Each of us had a 25" suitcase and the drawers at the far end were not used at all. The suitcases fit under the bed. The bathroom is compact but worked fine.
