It was an upgrade. Great views from the stern with a very large balcony. Smallish shower but really not a drawback. Given the roughness of the trip and our not so sea worthy travelling abilities we had no sign of motion sickness. Perhaps the cabin location, deck 10 centre of the stern has something to do with it? Cabin service was superb. Sitting in Sydney Harbour with a view over both the bridge and Opera House was special.  Read entire member review.
Great balcony, dinky bathroom. Ample closet and storage space. Not much motion from the ship/ocean and very quiet for the most part.  Read entire member review.
I got 2 types of staterooms (1 FO and 2 D2) that are quite hard to book for most sailings. Either you don't have at least 5 people to stay in an FO, i.e., the Family Oceanview; or someone grabbed the Aft D2 Oceanview stateroom with a huge balcony (3 times the size of a regular one) faster than you. First, let's look at the Family Oceanview #8002 (390 sq.ft) with a sitting area (double sofabed), a bedroom area that had 2 twin beds (convert to a Queen), and a tiny separate bedroom for a twin bed and a pull-down bunk bed. Please visit my Cruise Critic thread to view the photos of the room. The whole room can accommodate 6 people and you usually need to have at least 5 pp to book that type of room. However, just 1 month before sail date, that room became available as an ordinary Oceanview room that allowed double occupancy. My parents (in their 70's), happily gave away their E2 mid-ship balcony room (on the Starboard side which should have been great while watching Hubbard Glacier) for a more spacious room. They LOVED their huge room and really enjoyed the separate sleeping areas. You want to know the price difference between an E2 and an FO? Over $500 per person at the time of switching! However, we booked their E2 1 year ago on board the Oasis so the price difference was less than $100 per person and we were refunded. Thanks to our incredible travel agent who kept checking for lower room prices and upgrade availabilities! Next there were my room and my daughters' D2 Oceanview rooms with balconies that were side by side (with no connecting doors), Rooms #1104 & #1604. Those rooms were just regular D2 rooms with just around 200 sq. ft. However, our balcony measured to over 100 sq.ft. (more than double of a regular one), it was wonderful for watching Hubbard Glacier with our camera on tripod all set up. These balcony rooms were located at the aft of the ship...a long walk but they were very quiet as no one walked past them. We had very good sleeps as no one talked outside our room while walking by, excellent for light sleepers! We stayed on our balconies to watch Hubbard Glacier together while maintaining our own little privacy...reading, writing trip journals, balcony dining, etc.!  Read entire member review.
We have nothing but praises about our cabin. It was in the aft, and was a good size with an amazing balcony. Very quiet and was able to get a view on both sides when we were at the ice fields!  Read entire member review.
Fabulous Radiance by explorer50uk
As I have said before 7040 was a great cabin, close to elevators and stairs and large balcony was a definate plus.  Read entire member review.
Cabin 7172 on the Radiance. Very noisy as you can hear the music from the nightclub directly below all night long. Soundproofing between cabin 7172 and cabin 7174 is lacking as you can hear almsot everything your nieghbour say and they can hear you.  Read entire member review.
7574 & 7042

Both staterooms were great as was the service by our cabin stewards.

Great aft cabin with large balcony, quite location.  Read entire member review.
Cabin 8170 was small, but comfortable. Bath/shower area very small, but workable. Location in AFT was great. Very Quite and private. Long walk to the closest elevators at mid-ship. It is a great view out the back of the ship, especially when docking, etc. Even though the ship's aft design is slanted, there really is no looking into another balcony. We never had a problem with having anything tossed from above and ending up on us or in our balcony. AFT cabins are a real treat as long as the seas are relatively calm.  Read entire member review.
8596 - Spacious closet, great balcony, centrally located and very close to Centrum elevator.  Read entire member review.
9034 is a great cabin, the only draw back was that our neighbors toward the stern had a small angular balcony that was so open that when you viewed out it gave the impression that you were looking at them / invading their privacy. Our cabin itself was typical, neat, clean and efficient!  Read entire member review.
There are no problems with this cabin. Good location, and very good size.  Read entire member review.

Amazing Alaska by PureMI

I did the cabin guarantee and we got a winner. Midship, unobstructed views, lots or storage and hangers available.

9074 Only one traveler. Plenty of closet space and hangers, plenty of drawers and shelves for clothes and items. Safe in cupboard. mini fridge, stocked. comfy bed, decent linens, not great. Tiny bathroom, with teeny tiny shower! Smelly bathroom for entire trip, take Lysol onboard with you. There is nothing to be done about smell, otherwise, it just is. Flat screen tv with horrid programming and reception. Want to watch a movie in your room? $12, or wait until you're home for same movie from Redbox for 1.30... CNN for news, but very pixelated. Did not even offer any PBS, yikes! Great, wonderful views at all times, remember it is dark for only a few hours, so I slept with drapes wide open, and just stared out all night at the most beautiful scenery this world traveler has ever seen!!!!

Great cabin! Right behind the hump elevators on port side, which nicely blocks the wind while cruising! The balcony is larger than the others too!! Had 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a table on the balcony!

Picture Perfect Ports by crustycrab
Huge oversized balcony Rm. 9092 and 9078 on either sie of glass elevator. Great central location. Spacious feel of hall and centrum outside door. Quiet library nearby but music from centrum can be heard in room. No elevator noise. Adequate storage. Tiny shower.  Read entire member review.
Cabin 9206 is AWESOME!! It was amazingly quiet, and the balcony has a totally unobstructed view! It is also located towards the center of the ship, and is so easy to find because the carpet is plain in front of the door so you can find it easily. We did accidentally leave our door open one time when we left the room (pull it shut, make sure it clicks, try to open it). And another time we had opened it to hear an announcement and didn't shut it tight. Can't imagine what people heard as they were walking by. The bathroom door was open, so we couldn't see that the door was open. OOPS! The balcony is big enough that on two mornings we took the extra table out from in front of the sofa and used it for breakfast. There are two chairs and a round table on the balcony with ample room. The cabin was much bigger than we had imagined it would be. Lots of closet space, lots of storage under the bed. A flat screen TV would be nice, but the one it has pulls out and swivels. It is hard to lock into place and came flying out in the middle of one night when the shipped rocked hard.  Read entire member review.
Cabin 9206 level 9 port side Cabin was good size with 3 person couch, very comfortable king bed (2 large singles joined), great pillows, good lightning throughout, good block out curtains, heaps of mirrors (too many maybe), Balcony is adequate for 2,adequate wardrobe and hanging space and storage generally, hot water readily available, room is well insulated (only heard next toilet on flush). Room service-if requiring tea emphasise water in a coffee free pot (can be tainted badly. Location is excellent -level 9, very close to centrum area, stairs and lifts with good viewing angles from balcony (be careful other cabins closer to the centre can have limited viewing angles because of the shape of the ship exterior, even though they are higher priced !) Negatives - open the balcony window and sometimes you get whistling inside the cabin, general economic cost measures means have to ask for more stationery paper/pen, tissues. Fridge is cooler only so contents are warm (ps when booking ask for a refridgerator for medical purposes). Couch is too big and space should have been used to expand the bathroom. Bathroom shower would be a squeeze for larger people, only get body wash and soap. Location was far from stateroom attendant's base (attends to 14 rooms)so need to work on this (charm, tip, pester etc). Sum: Yes very pleased and highly recommended.  Read entire member review.
A Great Ship by sniggs
Excellent cabin  Read entire member review.
We were in an aft corner cabin on Deck 9. The room was spacious, lots of storage space, small bathroom but very adequate for our needs, the balcony was huge, we had two loungers, two regular chairs and a table and still had room to move around. Quiet location in the back of the ship, a little longer walk to the elevators but it helped us walk off those delicious meals we ate. This was a great place to enjoy the beautiful scenery as we sailed by them.  Read entire member review.
This cabin was great. There is a lot of storage space both in the cabin and in the bathroom. Could have been a couple more hangers. Cabin is in a good location - mid point between the forward lifts and the centrum lifts so easy to get to most places. Was lovely and quite.  Read entire member review.
Fantastic double size balcony with clear forward views. Lovely sea breezes enter room. No noise from Centrum and handy to library and elevators. Easy walk forward along passage to front elevators. Shower has curtain only but manageable if kept full closed. Full size sofa.  Read entire member review.
Cabin 9576 Large corner balcony. Large cabin, plenty of room to move around. Good storage cupboards plus under bed for suitcases. Comfortable bed, with reading lights. Dark curtains. No kettle or china to make a cuppa but excellent free room service. Air con good. En suite smelled odd but not of sewerage just strange. Only shampoo/shower gel provided. Plenty of towels. Hairdryer.  Read entire member review.
Cabin can be noisy when loud music is being played in Centrum.  Read entire member review.
Great "hump" cabin. Directly across from elevators. Quiet.  Read entire member review.
Great location in the center of the ship. Was able to quickly get to the cabin without going down any long hallways. Occasionally could hear noise from the cabin above us, but never overly distracting. The balcony had enough room for two and a table. We would sometimes bring the room chair onto the balcony as well for three of us to sit and enjoy the view. The bathroom was rather small and could have been larger if the couch had been repositioned. The ship has a "bulge" in the middle which slightly blocks the balcony view forward but not enough to be annoying. This bulge also blocked the wind which allowed us to enjoy sitting on the balcony even when underway.  Read entire member review.
Best Cruise Ever by Djpearce79
Great balcony, lots of storage, tiny shower  Read entire member review.

First cruise was an ocean view room, second one was the balcony room. First cruise room was great, a little movement but not too bad, was at the front of the ship on deck 9. Second part of our back to back we were on deck 8 in the middle with a balcony. After the first night of this cruise, had to complain to the front desk as the room was unbelievably noisy. We have never experienced a room like it, it creaked and groaned all night, and it wasn't even in bad seas. I never slept much, and after waiting for over 4 hours the next day, they finally moved us to another room. On the other side, same balcony room, and this was a normal quiet room. Don't know what was wrong with that other first room, but a security officer checked it, also the head of the front desk staff and another member came and listened, and all agreed, something was not right about that room. We were just so thankful they could move us. Whilst on this part of our cruise, about 10 or so cabins on our deck that we walked past experienced a blackout for some time, no power or lights to their cabins at all. There was some electrical failure that the ship experienced, and this affected some cabins. We were thankful it wasn't ours. We have heard that Radiance has these problems quite frequently, the staff all know about it, and why they don't fix the problems properly is hard to understand. This is another reason I would not cruise with the Radiance again, you never know if your cabin is going to be one with a problem.

Had a D2 cabin which was adequate for 2 persons for 7 nights. Only downside was that the TV was on the same side of the room as the headboards (could only watch TV from the sofa & I tend to fall asleep watching TV). Also most of the movie channels did not work while in port (satellite issue per guest relations).  Read entire member review.
