Each week, we choose five cruise reviews written by our members, one of which is showcased as the Member Review of the Week. In the spotlight this week is Cruise Critic member cjhippo‘s recent cruise to the Panama Canal aboard Norwegian Sun.
Overall Impression: Retired Florida couple cjhippo and her husband were looking for an easy getaway, which is easy when you live within driving distance to a few major home ports. They decided to experience the Panama Canal for its 100th anniversary, onboard Norwegian Sun. Although they endured a disorganized embarkation process, relaxation on the ship was effortless.
Onboard Highlight: Dinner at Le Bistro, Norwegian’s French-inspired specialty restaurant. Since it wasn’t over crowded, cjhippo and her hubby were able to snag window seats both nights.
Port Highlight: Being able to experience the full-day Panama Canal transit; cjhippo enjoyed the ship’s narrator, who spoke to passengers over the loudspeaker. She did wonder why the ship didn’t have more commemoration for such a significant year. i
Don’t Miss: The musical quartet, Oh What a Night, which stood out among the entertainment choices (which cjhippo felt was overall good, not great).
Watch Out For: Cjhippo felt it was tough to find quiet places to read. She recommends bringing headphones to zone out the noise from fellow passengers gathering for games or drinks.
More: Read cjhippo’s full review for more details about the tour and highlights onboard the ship.
For their efforts, cjhippo and four other Reviewers of the Week — MTBELL1970, twosides, sakman, and Trave1er — receive Cruise Critic logo items.
