Each week, we choose five cruise reviews written by our members, one of which is showcased as the Member Review of the Week. In the spotlight this week is Cruise Critic member polkadots‘s recent cruise to the Eastern Caribbean aboard Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas.
Overall Impression: Applying everything they knew about last year’s cruise on Oasis of the Seas, polkadots and her husband prepared to sail aboard its sister ship. The couple booked all their shows in advance and were able to put together an itinerary of dinner times and shows, based on how they wanted to spend their time.
Onboard Highlight: The highlight of their cruise took place on the first formal night, thanks to an unexpected invite to the Captain’s Dinner at lunch. Polkadots and her husband felt privileged that they and two other couples, who eventually became new friends, were chosen to share the experience.
Port Highlight: Magens Bay Beach in St. Thomas, after the couple walked off the main area to find a quieter spot with calm, warm waters.
Don’t Miss: The fountain shows in the Aqua Theater, which you can easily find in your Cruise Compass daily planner.
Watch Out For: Slippery, muddy trails heading downward from the highest point of Loterie Farm, in St. Maarten.
More: Read polkadots’s full review for a breakdown of all the food highlights and lowlights onboard.
For their efforts, polkadots and four other Reviewers of the Week — hikerbiker31, Maxine1, MBAYogi, and PeachAero — receive Cruise Critic logo items.
