Steal of the Week: 7-Night Caribbean Cruise from $399

March 20, 2014 | By | No Comments

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: American Discount Cruises and Travel is offering a seven-night Caribbean cruise onboard Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam sailing roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale on March 30, 2014. Prices start from $399 per person for an inside cabin and may include prepaid gratuities or onboard credit.

WHAT WE LOVE: A killer price on a well-reviewed ship for a seven-night vacation is a great opportunity to escape the everyday. Nieuw Amsterdam is known for its “Dancing with the Stars” theme cruises, but even on a regular sailing, you can still be part of fun with always-available dance classes. Roundtrip from Florida is a much easier embarkation for many than flying to San Juan for this Caribbean itinerary that stops in Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay. An outside cabin with a view is still under $65 per person, per night and a balcony will run you just $86. At booking, you may qualify for bonuses such as onboard credit or prepaid gratuities.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: It’s a last-minute deal sailing just the end of this month, so that presents travel challenges for many. If you are able to snag this sailing, keep in mind that it is spring break. Holland America may not be known as a party line, but any cheap cruise to the Caribbean is fair game for vacationers looking to take advantage of their free time without emptying their wallets.
