Expedition Cruise Lovers Take On Antarctica

March 4, 2014 | By | No Comments

From the Galapagos Islands and Amazon River to the Seychelles and African plains, member Mary Denis and her husband have fascinating stories from their expedition cruising adventures. And after a recent cruise aboard Hurtigruten Fram, Antarctica has become one of her favorites.

The couple began their journey with an overnight stay in Buenos Aires, which they planned on their own (saving quite a few bucks). When it came to tours, the two played it safe, going directly through the cruise line to make sure they were back in time for boarding.
Onboard, everything — from the spacious suite to the expeditions and staff — contributed to their wonderful experience. Mary Denis’ only gripe was the extra hidden charges, found in things as simple as water at dinner and borrowing boots to wear ashore. Being so close to the penguins, whales and seals, however, was priceless.
Read Mary Denis’ full review for detailed Antarctica cruising tips, including how to combat sea sickness in Drake Passage. For their efforts, Mary Denis and four other Reviewers of the Week — jcobbj, freedream, Flake0911, and oellett — receive Cruise Critic logo items.
