Love reading the Cruise Critic boards? So do we! Every so often, we highlight a few forum threads that have made us laugh, cry or argue the finer points of cruising.
Bug killer: The norovirus outbreak on Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas has created quite the discussion among members of our forums, understandably. While most of our readers understand that noro is not restricted to cruising, many are taking precautions, bringing cleaning wipes on board and taking extra care at buffets and elevators. On this thread, located in our Ask A Cruise Question forum, our members share tips on how to keep your cabin clean. Says dibh1129: “We are on the 1/31 Explorer sailing. I just ordered the medical grade stuff. I plan to decon our rooms (4 rooms – we are traveling with family) as we get on. After extensive research, regular Clorox and Lysol are useless. You need the medical grade stuff with bleach.”
Lunchtime Lipo? A poster on our Holland America board wondered if anyone had used their shore excursion time for a few nips and tucks. While some CC members felt that there would be nothing wrong with a few fillers, most frowned upon the idea of serious surgery, particularly if you were only in port for a few hours. As dorisis put it, “If one is really interested in having any kind of medical procedures done in a foreign land; it would be best to travel directly to and from that land. Much too risky while on a cruise.”
Watch your wash. When you travel with strangers, you’re bound to run into some issues. But who knew there were so many problems in the laudromat? In our Princess forum, member Cassie_Zuzu outlined washer/dryer do’s and don’ts. Chief among them: “If you put a load of washing on, please make it back in time to take your washing out of the machine once it has finished.” Hard to argue with that. Latecomers, you’ve been warned.
