Big-Ship Cruisers Experience Love at First Sight on the River

January 28, 2014 | By | No Comments

After itching to try a river cruise for quite some time,  member phoenix and his wife decided to take the plunge. Extensive research on Cruise Critic and TripAdvisor led them to AmaWaterwaysAmaPrima, although with the ship being fairly new, insight and member reviews were limited..
Following a pre-stay in Prague, phoenix and his wife fell in love with the 164-passenger ship when they spotted it from afar. But it was once inside that they began to grow attached. The decor was upscale and contemporary yet comfortable and inviting, appointed with electric fireplaces and a splash pool with swim-up bar on the sun deck.
The couple considered themselves seasoned cruisers, after trips on bigger lines like Princess, Holland America, Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. So they felt it was easier to compare big-versus-small ship differences when it came to dining menus, entertainment options and service (which felt intimate with under 50 crewmembers).
In the end, they realized their initial concerns about the cruise’s expense or that they might feel out of place proved wrong. Excited about the value for their money and new friends made, the couple already has their next river cruise booked.
Read phoenix’s full review for details on the fantastic crew and their Danube river itinerary. For their efforts, phoenix and four other Reviewers of the Week — jessination, kls10, fmstg182, and Ukie57 — receive Cruise Critic logo items.
