Cruise Critic staffers set sail every week, traveling the globe to bring you the latest cruise ship trends, port sneak peeks and onboard observations. Here’s where we are this week.
(Got questions about any of the ships we’re boarding? Ask us in the comments!)
Ship: Norwegian Getaway
Where: Cruise to nowhere, leaving from New York City
Who: Ashley Kosciolek, Associate Editor
Why There? Norwegian Getaway, the line’s newest ship, has arrived in New York en route to its Miami homeport. We’ll be onboard for two days to preview the ship before its christening and inaugural sailing next week.
We Can’t Wait: Although Getaway is nearly a carbon copy of sister ship Norwegian Breakaway, I’m excited to check out some of the new additions, including the Illusionarium’s supernatural magic show, a live performance of “Legally Blonde: The Musical,” the Miami-themed Sunset Bar and the pirate-themed plank, which takes passengers out above the water on a beam (with the support of a safety harness, of course).
