January’s Caption Contest Results

January 27, 2014 | By | No Comments

Our readers have been eager to find out who won our last caption contest, and we’re happy to say that the entries rose to the occasion. The picture of the dancers is is from Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas, submitted by frequent CC poster (and outstanding photographer) USATWORCREW.
A couple of entries referenced song lyrics, with R. Kelly’s hit “I Believe I can Fly” cited several times. The Circle of Life from the Lion King also received a couple of mentions, as did Wham (“hold me up before I go go”) and Barry Manilow (“Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl”). The photo also reminded several people of that classic “how many people does it take to screw in a light bulb.”
Honorable mention goes to two readers who had the same concept.”This is definitely the solution to hogging of the sun loungers,” wrote Anita. And Shawn suggested: “PLEASE don’t throw me overboard!!!!! I promise to NEVER hog towels or deck chairs again…..I PROMISE!!!!!!” And runner-up is Jim Schaufenbil for this: “THESE mandatory lifeboat drills really are getting out of hand!”
But the winner of our Cruise Critic prize pack is Jeffrey C for this: “Upset that the shore tour lecturer had gone over her allotted time, the bingo players arranged for her involuntary departure, stage right.”
Thanks for your creativity! Stay tuned for our next contest, coming up tomorrow.
