Steal of the Week: CruCon’s Black Friday Sale

November 21, 2013 | By | No Comments

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: CruCon Cruise Outlet is offering a one-day Black Friday sale on November 29, 2013, with bonus offers for pre-registering by November 21.

WHAT WE LOVE: Rather than scrambling after last-minute steals and promotions right around the holiday, schedule your cruise-booking plan of attack with advanced notice. CruCon is vague on the types of sales or even cruise lines that will be participating in its one-day sale, but it guarantees low pricing during the roughly nine-hour sale period (that starts 8 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving, and not 8 p.m. the night of). Booking a cruise on Black Friday doesn’t require missing dinner or losing sleep for long lines or waiting out in the cold; just a few quick mouse clicks from your home computer and a few plan Bs about where and when you want to go. For a bonus shopping experience plus a coupon valid to use during the sale, pre-register by November 21.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: If you’re uncomfortable signing up for Crucon’s e-deal subscription service, then discount your participation in their sale. This one is available to subscribers only. Classified until the day of the sale, it’s hard to tell exactly how good the deals will be, but 22 years running, their inventory of cruises usually proves enticing and cheap. Still, you have to be flexible and open to the possibility that you may not be able to book the first cruise you see if demand snatches them away. Also, high call volumes may be frustrating, but CruCon promises that they are closing their lines in time to guarantee that anyone who calls by 5 p.m. ET will receive a call back by 9 p.m.
