Hot on the Forums
Love reading the Cruise Critic boards? So do we! Every other Friday, we end the week on the Lido Deck by selecting a few forum threads that have made us laugh, cry or argue the finer points of cruising.
Supporting the Philippines. We were touched this week by the multiple outpourings of support, thoughts and prayers that our members posted throughout our forums for families of Filipino crew members affected by Typhoon Haiyan. As we reported earlier, several cruise lines have stepped up with donations toward relief organizations and also allowed their crew to take time to call or visit friends and family who were the hardest hit. While sometimes our forums seem to concentrate on the small stuff, our members band together with empathy during the toughest times – and that shows the true spirit of community.
Breaking Tradition? Cunard’s Queens – the Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria – have a well-established grande dame reputation. But as DDBINK1 points out, why not throw a male among the mix? “Cunard/Carnival needs to build a new proper LINER and give it a king’s name so that Cunard’s Queens can meet their King,” he writes. If you’ve got an opinion, add it to the mix.
Put Back the Piano! Azamara fans have mounted a crusade to get the cruise line to move the Quest’s piano out of the Casino and back into one of the more traditional lounges (the calls also keep coming to bring back the harpist, too). Will the campaign result in change? Stay tuned.
Breakfast Backlash. We’ve heard of people carrying on their own special soap or shampoo. But maple syrup? That’s what a few readers are saying they’ll do if Norwegian Cruise Line doesn’t bring back its original pancake/French toast topping. It goes to show that no issue is too small for the eagle-eyed posters on our forums.
