Steal of the Week: Cruise Epic from $54/Night + Kids Sail Free

October 31, 2013 | By | No Comments

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: Norwegian Cruise Line is offering a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise onboard Norwegian Epic sailing roundtrip from Miami on December 7, 2013. Prices start from $379 per person, for an inside cabin and include onboard credit. Kids sail free as third- through eighth-berth passengers.

WHAT WE LOVE: Norwegian Epic is a highly-rated ship, and the line’s newest, after Breakaway. This selection of Caribbean sailings is priced dirt cheap  (starting from $47 per night, if you wanted to leave… tomorrow). The December 7 sailing leaves more time to prep and is still a steal at $54 per night. Port stops in the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas complement seven nights at sea, with sail dates that include one over Thanksgiving and one just before Christmas, if your holiday schedule is flexible. A perfect chance for that family vacation, the deal allows up to six children (17 years of age and younger ) to sail free with two adults.  If you needed just one more reason to book this cruise, you’ll receive at least $25 in onboard credit, allowing you to splurge on a few decadent cocktails poolside, or grab some lunch at the noodle bar.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: The cruise is cheap and family-friendly with enticing ship and port options — and that is precisely why your sailing may be packed (including a healthy amount of children and young adults). Also, these prices currently apply to inside cabins, with some balconies still available; we recommend booking soon before these mostly last-minute sailings are snatched up. Keep in mind that prices increase by more than $300 between the December 14 and December 21 sailings. While they drop slightly after New Year’s, inside cabins will be going for November and December’s balcony prices. If this deal is desirable, pounce on it fast. Note: Hurricane season is technically in effect for any sailing in the Caribbean through November 30.
