Steal of the Week: Cruise Alaska from $40/Night

June 6, 2013 | By | 1 Comment

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: Avoya Travel is offering a seven-night Alaska cruise onboard Norwegian Sun, sailing from Whittier to Vancouver on June 24, 2013. Prices start from $279, per person, for an inside cabin. Bonus amenities may include onboard credit, spa credit, specialty dining, reduced deposit, wine and treats.

WHAT WE LOVE: Anytime a night of cruising costs less than or equal to a casual dinner for two, it’s a good sign. From $40 per person, per night, you could be seeing all the major ports and glaciers of Alaska during its peak season. Avoya teams with cruise lines to offer great bonus amenities, and this sailing is no different. At booking, you might qualify for up to three specialty dinners, $75 in onboard credit, $50 in spa credit, a bottle of wine and a reduced deposit. All you’re missing is some chocolate-covered strawberries — wait, they offer those, too.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: Embodying the definition of a last-minute steal, this cruise is super cheap and all-around attractive, but it’s  leaving soon! If your schedule is free enough to book a cruise that’s less than three weeks away, you’re in luck. On the down side, it departs from Alaska, (which is far from many) so also plan on scrambling for flights. Compare flight prices with our sister site TripAdvisor’s meta-search tool.
