Steal of the Week: 29 Nights in the Mediterranean from $3,499

May 23, 2013 | By | No Comments

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: Online Vacation Center is offering a 27-night Mediterranean cruise onboard Celebrity Silhouette, sailing from Rome to Fort Lauderdale on November 18, 2013. Prices start from $3,499, per person, for a balcony cabin. It also includes roundtrip airfare from Miami and a two-night pre-cruise hotel stay in Rome.

WHAT WE LOVE: Considering you’re not worrying about additional flight costs to Rome, the hotel bill is on the house and you’ll have $175 in onboard credit to spend, this Celebrity sailing is a great value. Plenty of port time in Italy includes an overnight in Venice. With half sea days and half port days, this cruise is a fantastic match for any sailing style.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: Twenty-nine nights (not factoring in air travel) is a long time to be away, so if you are hesitant about leaving home for a month, this cruise is not the one for you. Additionally, the weather in the Mediterranean during November and December can be cold and rainy and is therefore considered an off-season. If you hate packing layers and extra gear, this is probably not the best time to travel.
