Steal of the Week: South Pacific from $86/Night

April 25, 2013 | By | No Comments

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: Holland America Line is offering a 23-night South Pacific cruise onboard Volendam, sailing from Vancouver to Sydney on September 25, 2013. Prices start from $1,999, per person, for an inside cabin.

WHAT WE LOVE: Even when you take into account that your cruise is 23 nights, $86 per night is less than most hotels and includes more. Glimpse Hawaii then Fiji, American Samoa and other islands of the South Pacific, which makes for a more exotic itinerary. With the sailing over well before hurricane season in November, experience seasonally cool and sunny weather in port, with most days enjoying the ship (an especially good one for those with accessibility issues).
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: Spending a total of 14 days at sea — more than half the cruise — be sure you are suited to the demographics of the ship before committing the time. Research activities, dining and age group to ensure you will be well-matched to the needs of your cruise vacation. Also, be wary of seasickness!
