A handful of new and exciting ships are launching in the next couple years, and their respective cruise lines have chosen godmothers almost as flashy as the ships they’ll be christening. With several big names on the roster, we wanted to know which is your favorite.
What we asked: Of these four recently announced godmothers, my favorite is ___.
What they said: A whopping 69 percent of nearly 1,400 voters said Princess Kate (the Duchess of Cambridge) is their favorite; she’ll be christening Royal Princess. Another 15 percent went with the Rockettes, who represent Norwegian Breakaway. A further 11 percent chose Broadway and TV actress Kristin Chenoweth, who will carry out her motherly duties for Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas, and the remaining 4 percent opted for Sharon Stone, who represents AmaWaterways’ AmaVita.

What it all means: Royalty wins out. There seems to be something special about Kate. She’s pretty, she’s classy, and she’s just plain likeable. Plus, who better than a royal princess to christen Royal Princess? We don’t quite understand The Rockettes’ second-place finish, though. To us, their stint as godmother(s) is a little … promotional.
