Many Happy Returns to Gem

Whale Watching
As a repeat birthday gift, “from me to me,” Rhea58, who helped organize the Cruise Critic Meet & Greet, sailed easily from New York to the Eastern Caribbean onboard Norwegian Gem in February. Doing shore excursions solo, Rhea58 found a quaint sidewalk cafe for dinner in the French district of Phillipsburg, serious shopping in St. Thomas, and a “slew of whales” in Samana, on the cheap. Read Rhea58’s full review for why you don’t need to pay for specialty dining, the perks of being a trivia buff and why an uphill hike to Starbucks in San Juan was necessary.
For their efforts, Rhea58 and four other Reviewers of the Week — freshfarm, Srandaz2, RorySten and Riverlake — receive Cruise Critic logo items.
