Steal of the Week: Cruise the Eastern Mediterranean From $57 Per Night

March 21, 2013 | By | No Comments

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: American Discount Cruises & Travel is offering a seven-night Eastern Mediterranean cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas, sailing roundtrip from Rome on May 12, 2013. Fares start at $399 per person for an inside cabin, $599 for an outside cabin and $799 for a balcony cabin.

WHAT WE LOVE: Europe cruises are cheap this year, and fares just dropped on this seven-night jaunt through the Mediterranean to $57 a night. (Although outside cabins went back up in price, so book soon before the low fares sell out.) Plus, you may be eligible for extra perks like coupon books, free specialty dining, prepaid tips and onboard credit. The ship sails to Greece, Turkey and Italy, where you can get your fill of historic sites and Mediterranean culture.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: If you’re not already planning a trip to Italy, you will need to quick book airfare to Rome and hope your passports are in order to take advantage of this deal. To find out if last-minute flights will eat up your cruise savings, you can compare prices with our sister site TripAdvisor’s meta-search tool. Also, Navigator of the Seas is due for a major refurbishment at the end of 2013, so you won’t yet find some of the more modern Royal Caribbean amenities, such as a poolside movie screen, updated dining venues and a nursery.
