Despite Outbreak on Old Ship, Statendam Still Outstanding

For a ship going into dry dock, cruiser califgary saw little sign of disrepair or pre-construction onboard Holland America’s 20-year-old Statendam. Sailing through the Panama Canal, califgary was impressed with the port talks and canal information, as well as the overall friendly demeanor of every crewmember on the ship. Even during a “Code Red” gastrointestinal outbreak, califgary notes that the crew immediately took action, and by the last port, operations were back to normal. Read califgary’s full review to hear more about smooth sailing, “the dungeons” and what was worth $20 a piece.
For their efforts, califgary, along with the four other Reviewers of the Week — Sailfish, allgames, lorimay and shelly11 — receives a Cruise Critic logo item.
