Steal of the Week: Cruise the Eastern Caribbean From $62 Per Night

December 27, 2012 | By | No Comments

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: American Discount Cruises & Travel is offering an eight-night Eastern Caribbean cruise aboard Independence of the Seas, sailing roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale on January 19, 2013. Fares start at $499 per person for an inside cabin, $699 for an outside and $799 for a balcony.

WHAT WE LOVE: If you can sail at the last minute, you can snag a Royal Caribbean cruise for just $62 a night (with outsides and balconies also under $100 a night). You might be eligible for prepaid gratuities and onboard credit. You’ll visit St. Kitts, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico and Labadee, the cruise line’s private beach. Independence of the Seas is full of diversions for the three sea days with its onboard surfing, rock-climbing wall, kids’ club and splash area, and entertainment ranging from parades down the ship’s shopping center Promenade and ice skating shows in the onboard rink.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: There is no time to dither about vacation time and affordability – if you want to get this cruise at this price, you have to move fast as the ship sails in less than a month. If you have to fly to the Florida homeport, make sure last-minute airfare won’t eat up your savings. To see how much flights will add to your vacation cost, compare flight prices with our sister site TripAdvisor’s meta-search tool.
