Poll: What River is Your Favorite for Cruising?
December 10, 2012 | By Cruise Critic | 1 Comment

It’s not a major surprises the Danube is topping our River Poll, with more than a third of you saying that is your river of choice for 2013.
The Rhine comes in a fairly close second, with a quarter of you choosing it.
The Seine was a respectable 16 percent, good enough for third place, ahead of the Douro, Moselle and Russia’s rivers. This aligns with some expert opinion: At a recent river cruise expo in Amsterdam (which we attended), one speaker said the Seine/Rhone is the third most popular place in Europe to take a cruise.
While perhaps not surprising, given current world events, the Nile has not received even one vote as we write this (December 10).
The mighty Mississippi is tied for sixth in our poll, though several members, including hondorner and kidpsyc sang the praises of the Mississippi as well as American Queen.
River cruising is the fastest-growing style of cruising in the United States (as well as in the U.K. and Australia), but it is somewhat unknown to many “mainstream” cruisers.
Yet 60 percent of travelers who cruise on a river are repeaters. That means 40 percent are first-timers when it comes to river. And most new-to-river passengers come from ocean cruising.
Our poll has been open for a week and will remain open through the end of December, so vote — and leave comments on the message boards about your favorites. We’d love to hear from you.
Don’t delay – vote in our poll and let us know which river you’re cruising on next year.
