Poll Position: A Cruise With a Big, Red Bow

December 4, 2012 | By | 1 Comment

The holidays are quickly approaching, and naturally, we here at Cruise Critic happen to think the best gift ever would be a shiny, new cruise — with a big, red bow, of course. So, we wondered just how many of you would give someone else a cruise as present.
What we asked: Would you give a cruise as a gift?
What they said: Most voters — 31 percent — say they would and already have given a cruise to someone as a present. Another 30 percent said maybe, if it was to someone special. A further 20 percent said they’d love to but haven’t, and the remaining 18 percent said no way.
What it all means: It seems that the gifting of sailings is more popular than we thought. According to many folks who posted on our Facebook page, they’ve either given or received them for birthdays, anniversaries, wedding gifts and graduation presents. But, that doesn’t always mean it’s easy.
“Do you have any idea how difficult it could be to give away a cruise?” asks Eric M Frisch, who speaks from experience after having already done so. Guy Levacque prefers to avoid parting with such a purchase: “No way,” he says. “[The] cruise would be for me.”
What are your thoughts? Would you be that generous? If so, would you be sure to accompany the recipient? Let us know in the comments section below.

People obviously have significantly deeper pockets than I have. I couldn’t afford to gift someone a cruise.
