Steal of the Week: Cruise Alaska from $57 Per Night

August 16, 2012 | By | No Comments

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: American Discount Cruises & Travel is offering a seven-night Alaska cruise aboard Holland America’s Statendam, sailing from Vancouver to Seward on September 9, 2012. Fares start from $399 per person for an inside cabin and $449 for an outside.

WHAT WE LOVE: A rate of $57 a night for an inside cabin (or $64 a night for an outside) is a great price for an Alaska cruise. You may be eligible for onboard credit, prepaid gratuities, free upgrades or coupon books, based on fare paid. The itinerary highlights are scenic cruising in Glacier Bay, and visits to three Inside Passage ports: Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: September is the very end of the Alaska cruise season, so be prepared for cooler weather and rougher waters, especially in the Gulf of Alaska. Last-minute airfare into Canada and out of Alaska can be pricey, so if you want to make sure your total vacation cost doesn’t exceed your budget, compare flight prices on our sister site TripAdvisor’s meta-search tool.
