Steal of the Week: Cruise the Bahamas and Caribbean from $42 Per Night

August 9, 2012 | By | No Comments

Everyone is looking for the deal of the century. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Check the Lido Deck each week to get the scoop on our favorite deals — then grab the phone and pack your bags.
THE DEAL: CruiseWise.com is offering a five-night Bahamas and Caribbean cruise aboard Carnival Destiny, sailing roundtrip from Miami on November 26, 2012. Fares for an inside cabin start from $209 per person.

WHAT WE LOVE: At $42 a night per person, the starting price on this sailing is a great deal. Unlike some short cruises with only a day or two ashore, this itinerary hits three ports — Nassau, Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk — with a sea day for onboard fun.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: The lowest price is for an inside cabin with bunkbeds. If you want to snuggle with your sweetie (or have a ground-floor berth), fares start at $249 — $40 more — for a cabin with twin beds convertible to a king. Windows cost even more. Also, Carnival Destiny is scheduled for a massive refurb in February 2013, so you’ll be sailing on an older ship without all the cruise line’s latest enhancements. If you want to make sure your total vacation cost doesn’t exceed your budget, you can compare flight prices on our sister site TripAdvisor’s meta-search tool.
