Live From Celebrity Summit: Super Bowl, Super Night

February 6, 2012 | By | 4 Comments

G-Men! G-Men! G-Men! Okay, I tried not to make too many enemies Sunday night, but after returning to my cabin from Celebrity Summit’s massive Super Bowl party and being a Jersey girl, I was totally hyped up. Not only did I get to watch the Giants pull off a stunning win, but I got to watch it on an enormous projector screen in a gorgeous theater, with hundreds of other football fans. In a word, it was awesome.

The crew prepared and set up an impressive all-night buffet of football foods and sweets, including cheeseburger and pulled pork sliders, mini beef hot dogs, chicken wings, chili, nachos with all the toppings, salads, jumbo cookies, chocolate-covered cheesecake bites and Rice Krispie treats.
Passengers looking for a more laid-back viewing experience could watch the game in the revamped Michael’s Club, which now serves dozens of International and craft beers. Plus, big-screens were set up in the ship’s Fortunes casino, so the gambling crowd didn’t have to miss any of the excitement. Of course, all of the ship’s other venues — including the new Crush Martini Bar — were open, and live music could be found all over the ship.
The only disappointment? No commercials! We only got to watch trailers for upcoming sporting events airing on ESPN. It certainly would have been nice during those more intense moments (man, what a game!) to indulge in a little humor to lighten the mood, but it looks as if we’ll have to settle for watching them online when we return home.

We’re going to be on the Celebrity Equinox for next year’s Super Bowl so I hope they do it right, also!

Celebrity always does a bang-up job for the Super Bowl, so you should be in for a treat as well on the Equinox. We watched the Giants come from behind to beat the Patriots in the ’08 Super Bowl on board the Millennium. It’s definitely a fun night!

It sounds like such a great time! I’ll have to consider doing a Super-bowl cruise in the future. I always look forward to the food more than anything, and what better place to get some good football grub than on a cruise!
