Coming Soon: Live From Celebrity Summit!

February 3, 2012 | By | 7 Comments

Ahh, the Caribbean in February. This weekend we’re setting sail on a weeklong Southern Caribbean cruise aboard the newly Solsticized Celebrity Summit — the ship’s second sailing since its multimillion-dollar refurbishment last month. Our sailing’s jam-packed itinerary includes five port stops (five!), so we’ll have to move fast to experience all the ship has to offer. (We’re probably not getting too much sympathy on this point.) A few things we can’t wait to experience: the Bacardi-sponsored sailaway festivities (we are cruising from San Juan, after all), a Super Bowl party in the ship’s theater, the iPad menu at Qsine and gelato from the ship’s new gelateria. Oh, and we have a few surprises up our sleeve, as well ….

OK, I’ll bite. What the heck is Solsticization?

They take an older ship and upgrade it to a Solstice Class ship…instead of building from scratch. :-)

It would be great if you could post some pictures of the upgraded cabins. I’m sailing on the Summit and am especially interested in seeing what the Concierge cabins and balconies look like now.

Would love to see pictures of the pool deck, the MDR, and to know whether there are still shower curtains (or if they put in doors).

Hello from Celebrity Summit! @Drodriguez, I’m actually staying in a Concierge-class balcony cabin. Check our Facebook page later tonight for a photo. @Kristin, just be sure to keep following us here on the blog this week — we’ve already snapped shots of those areas for future posts. Oh, and unfortunately the shower curtains are still in places, and I managed to soak my bathroom floor this morning attempting to avoid the cling.

We’ve got a cruise booked on 4/28 re-positioning in a A-2 cabin — problem is I have no idea what they look like, Sq. ft., size of balcony, etc.any chance someone can report on these cabins?

      Hi Drodriguez,
The reviews I have been reading for 12/11 and 1/12 express disappointment in the food, especially at dinner, and fitness only gets ratings of 2-3. A well=equipped fitness room is vital to my husband. What is your opinion on these areas. Was the renovation fabulous and did it improve these areas? We are trying to decide between this cruise or Caribbean Princess. Thanks:)
