If I never see another burger, it’ll be way too soon. In my last Carnival Liberty post, I said I’d offer an update on my self-imposed mission to eat at least four of the five burgers on the menu at the new (fee-free) Guy’s Burger Joint in one sitting. Was I successful?
The short answer is, unfortunately, no. Still, to the amazement of several Guy’s staff who tried to talk me out of the stunt, I was able to completely down three of them: the Plain Jane, a basic burger with cheese on a bun; the Ringer, a cheeseburger with an onion ring and a special sauce; and the Chillius Maximus, which has everything the others do, along with so many other toppings that I completely lost count.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed the Chillius Maximus, the other two made me increasingly resentful of each subsequent bite.
If none of the above appeal to you, you can also build your own burger with the help of the venue’s toppings bar.
My recommendation? You should definitely try at least one of these indulgent concoctions. Heck, try all five — just not at once, or you may find yourself in some serious pain later. You may also want to have a drink at the ready to combat the overwhelming S.M.C. (super melty cheese). Be sure to snag one of the eatery’s signature red cloth napkins, too, and be prepared to use it; these burgers are the greasiest I’ve ever seen.
You can snag as many burgers as you want between noon and 6 p.m. daily — and the best part is that they’re free!
As for the calorie count, that information is mysteriously unavailable. However, we’re not sure we want to know — and neither do those who consume the approximately 1,200 burgers made there daily.
While I’d love to tell you my next stop is the fitness center for some heavy cardio, I’ve got to scamper off and prepare for formal night. That means my next “will she succeed?” endeavor will be squeezing my “burger baby” stomach into one of my old prom gowns….
