Face-Off: Butler vs. Frog (Vote Now!)

November 30, 2011 | By | 3 Comments

Two cruise lines yesterday announced new themes that have us envisioning a humorous battle of classic versus kitschy.
Disney Cruise Line announced Tuesday that it will bring the The Muppets onboard its newest ship — Disney Fantasy, launching in early 2012 — as part of a mystery game that will take passengers around the ship in search of clues. Said clues will appear via pieces of interactive art, as well as physical evidence, according to a statement from the line.
Also Tuesday, Costa Cruises announced it will debut a “Gone With the Wind” theme on the aft Lido Deck of new ship Costa Fascinosa, also set to roll out in early 2012.
So, who’s on the marquee? We’ve chosen the leading, uh, “men” from each cast, pitting Rhett Butler against Kermit the Frog. If we were gamblers, we’d put our money on the frog. Sure, Butler’s got a major size advantage and could probably charm the pants off of Kermit — if he actually wore pants, that is. But Kermit’s got Miss Piggy in his corner, and we certainly wouldn’t want to peeve a swine with a Judo chop as fierce as hers.
So tell us: Which of these two themes is more appealing? Vote below.

I love cruises because of the real ship experience. I don’t want a floating theme park
or shopping mall! I don’t want space taken up with themed restaurants that charge extra either.
I want good value for the up front price.

I wholeheartedly agree with Jan! I mean, come on. We are on a cruise ship. If I wanted a theme park experience I’d go to Disneyland. I don’t want all that stupid, cutesy stuff. I want to relax and enjoy life, not have to try to walk around Kermit or Shrek or Rhett Butler. Good grief! Just give me a comfy place to lounge with someone asking for my order and bringing me my drinks and let me relax!
