“This was my 13th Carnival cruise, and I thought it was bad luck taking my 13th over Halloween,” wrote Dave… on the message boards. He was referring to the unexpected bad weather that walloped Carnival Pride in early November, forcing the ship to delay its arrival into Baltimore after a Bahamas and Florida cruise. (The captain had to reduce cruising speed to accommodate the weather conditions — thus the late debark.)
Dave… (the ellipsis is part of his boards moniker) was “up and around a lot during the storm.” We’re glad he stayed safe, especially with the ship “bobbing like a cork” (his words). While the damage wasn’t extensive or lasting, there were broken plates, toppled souvenir displays and the “odd light fixture [that] fell from the ceiling.”
Dave… saw the experience as an adventure — and some fellow passengers echoed his sentiments. “I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE!” said Facebooker Heidi Field.
“The experience was great — not something I would want to happen every cruise, but it made for a very memorable [sailing],” wrote Rankbronc, who provided the above pic of his Deck 1 oceanview cabin-turned aquarium. (See pic right for point of reference: Deck 1 is the second floor below the ship’s red racing stripe.). “The cabin provided a view of the ocean that we had not expected,” he added.
Dave… snapped the above shot from Deck 7. Not much to add — the sea spume is plenty eloquent.
