Coming Next Week: Sipping Points

November 4, 2011 | By | 8 Comments

They’re among the questions we hear most frequently at Cruise Critic: What are the alcohol policies onboard ships? What can I bring on? What are the best spots for happy hours? Does this ship have a designated driver? Next week, we’ll be turning our attention to all things booze related, from all-you-can-drink packages to the coolest bars at sea. But wait, there’s more: In addition to posts on the blog, daily polls and a spotlight on feature stories, we’ll be having Happy Hour every day on our Facebook page and here on the Lido Deck. Check back at 5 p.m. EST Monday through Friday (November 7-11) for the Drink Recipe of the Day, provided by the cruise lines, and a chance to win some cool swag (Carnival Magic inaugural shot glass, anyone?). But while we’re on the subject: Do you have any questions relating to the booze policies on cruise ships? Let us know below and we’ll try to answer them next week.
Relive the magic of our last theme week: Check out our Ultimate Guide to Cruise Ship Tipping.

We will be leaving on a cruise Nov. 19 on the Carnival Destiny and I was told we were allowed to bring a 12 pack of soda for the kids and 1 bottle of liquor for the adults. I was just wanting to find out if this was true and if not is there anything that we can bring. Thank You so much and can’t wait for my first cruise.

Each guest (over the age of 21) may bring on one bottle of wine during embarkation and a small ammount of other beverage such as a 12 pk. of popl

You can take one bottle of wine, not liquor. Make sure you carry it on too. We packed our bottle in a suitcase and Carnival confiscated it until the end of the cruise. You can take as many soft drinks as you can carry.

Patti– Celebrity allows 2 bottles of wine per stateroom. No liquor, soda, or bottled water. And– they check very carefully.

Hi first cruise ever! Going on NCL Star Jan. 1, 2012 and would really appreciate alcohol policy info. We are a family of 5 with 3 college-age sons, so this is pretty important information! thanks!
