Live From Norwegian Dawn: What’s Up, Dock?

October 2, 2011 | By | 4 Comments

Through repeated bouts of wind and rain, we’ve finally arrived in King’s Wharf, Bermuda. Tropical Storm Ophelia is history, and to the relief Norwegian Dawn’s passengers, the air is warm and the sky blue. As we approached the island, hundreds of passengers gathered on the sundeck to watch the ship dock, which seemed quite a maneuver to my virgin eyes. Carnival Miracle is also in Bermuda today, and at one point, I wasn’t quite sure how we would nose our way into the dockyard without nudging her. But of course, these folks know exactly what they’re doing. Now that we’re safely in port, it’s time to gear up for a beach day. There’s only one decision left: Horseshoe Bay or Elbow Beach? Hopefully, I won’t get lost on my way off the ship!

Tobaaco Bay! Was there last week on the Explorer and the snorkeling was incredible!

Horseshoe Beach…then walk to your left (as you are facing the ocean) to find more secluded lovely spots!

Definitely Horseshoe for a first visit. The beach is beautiful and large (for Bermuda) with many coves to explore.

We were on the Dawn twice, both times from New York to Bermuda. We conceed that the ship is showing a bit of age, but on both cruises we had a wonderful time … and our daughter (now age 5) had a terrific time as well in the kids club and visiting Bermuda. We’d sail her again, and are jealous of our friends from Boston who are onboard now … have a fun cruise!!
